    The "nuclear train" consists of a train loaded with armored vehicles that are specific to protecting nuclear weapons outside of storage (or silos). The video shows the vehicles north of Moscow, and geolocation along with the actual direction of travel shows the train headed NORTH, not south. For those geographically challenged, that means headed away from Ukraine. It could be they are headed for storage areas to load up with nuclear weapons, but it is being represented incorrectly by the media not bothering to even figure out the direction of travel. FYI, love the Telegraph podcast and look forward to it every day here in the USA. Far superior coverage compared to US media.

    The OODA loop was created by fighter pilot Colonel John Boyd USAF as part of his development of air combat tactics using his energy management diagrams and systems. He did it between the Korean and Vietnam conflicts - not pre-WWII. It has now spread beyond air combat into business and industry. Credit where it's due.

    The stupidity of Musk's suggestion is how can a fair referendum be held if most of the supporting Ukrainian population has moved out of the annexed areas or been forcibly relocated to Russia. What also wasn't mentioned was that, potentially, the risk of a nuclear intervention from Putin may increase in winter if the Russian situation becomes so desperate that Putin sees this as his only option. I imagine tactical nukes could be fired/dropped from within the Russian border?

    Elon Musk's vanity and ego causes him to fancy himself a genius not only with respect to technological and business matters, but also the field of geo-politics. Unfortunately, his ideas in this area put him in the category of intellectually mediocre weak sisters, so common in the West, who are ruled by fear and do not understand the long term danger associated with appeasing Putin. Sadly, such people show themselves to be detached from reality in such a way and such a degree as to render them completely out of their depth in dealing with the many important public issues the understanding of which require a shrewd and realistic appraisal of human nature in order to be successfully addressed.

      I think this (Elon Musk's rather arrogantly naive intrusion into the realm of politics, akin to that of Jordan Peterson or Noam Chomsky) is revealing of today's crisis in expertise. Where individuals who may be brilliant in one area need to express their opinion on everything that comes their way, and have a hitherto unforeseen social media loudspeaker to do it with.

    Great podcast and to add comment for what's its worth about the train movements, Russian sources mentioned the launchers where used to flatten maripol so possibly the train was for restocking armaments since it was also said on same feed those trucks heading for crimea. Another comment on the black sea fleet being at risk was said early last week by UK defence advisor which in the same sentence said or knocking out satellites, this was said on live TV. The sky interviewer bulked at the comment as it was such a strong statement

    Thanks guys for another great podcast.
    I just want to say, I have watched videos recently of newly conscripted Russian troops that were captured in their first few days of the war. One in particular, a very young guy, who had a leg injury said he was grabbed right out of university and was sent to front lines within mere days. He also said there was ZERO training. In doing this, it is quite clear what the intention is for the use of these 300k conscripts. It IS cannon fodder. To waste Ukraine's munitions, time and hoping maybe taking out some Ukrainians if luck would have it?

    Less than a decade ago, Putin, weighing in on the alleged Russian meddling in Catalonia, said very specifically that Kosovo was a "Pandora's Box" and therefore justification for Russia to flex its imperialist muscles as well. What he fails to realize is that he has opened one up himself. I predict that Belgorod will *not* be the only Russian city affected in the end.

    Musk's remarks appear to be motivated by a belief that there would be fewer deaths if hostilities were stopped. It appears his remarks are well meaning but not adequately developed. He fails to account for the principle that an aggressor must not be rewarded if that can be accomplished. In this case it appears it can be accomplished because of the morally sound support of the western democracies. Best wishes for Ukraine's success in establishing a robust border with Russia.

    To date only 85,000 Russians have been killed and injured. Winter will not cause a stop in the war. During the 3 1/2 months of the Winter War between Russia and Finland, Russia suffered over 380,000 killed and injured. Although grossly outnumbered, Finland was better organised, better trained, better led and better armed than Russia.
    Winter is coming. Finnish the job.

    • @michaelawford7325
      @michaelawford7325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like the Finnish 😂😂! Putin has a vision, a mission, to drag Russia back to the good old KBG days, particularly the wonderful time when Stalin commandeered the Ukrainian harvest in the 1930s as punishment for wanting independence, resulting in 3-5 million deaths from famine. (Look up Holodomor). Unfortunately for Putin modern communications are such that nothing can be hidden, the whole free world can see what’s going on and is reacting accordingly, much to it’s credit. I wonder if WW2 could have been avoided if there had been the same reaction to German expansion? 🤔

      He gets the attention because lots of people adopt his ideas as if they were valid. Look at the bitcoin price following his comments. There are a lot of people out there who seem to have delegated their thinking to Elon Musk. Sadly, these people vote and are part of public opinion. If Musk has exceptional influence then he has exceptional responsibility NOT to undermine democratic counties fighting for their survival. Every pressure available should be brought to bare on Musk, such that he winces every time he remembers his ludicrously naive posts.

    All US spending on the War in Afghanistan exceeded $2 trillion.
    Since February 24, countries and international organizations have allocated more than $75 billion to help Ukraine.
    The total cost of the Apollo program was about $25.4 billion, or about $152 billion in today's dollars.
    NASA's Artemis lunar program is expected to spend $86 billion by 2025. The long-term goal of the program is to establish a permanent base on the Moon and facilitate manned missions to Mars.
    Elon Musk has calculated that it would take $1 trillion to successfully colonize Mars. Just the money that the US spent on the War in Afghanistan would be enough for this.
    Instead of funding the colonization of other planets or anything else useful, the leadership of countries finances wars. As a result, the development of civilization slows down, unnecessary sacrifices and destruction appear. The leaders of different countries work inefficiently and not in the interests of the people.
    Seemingly as someone who wants to colonize Mars, Musk decided that it would be wiser to direct the costs of wars towards the colonization of planets.

    I'm British but lived in Russia for 18 years until this year ... I know Russia and Russians. Normal Russian people don't care about the separatist 'Republics'. Any full mobilisation to protect them will be resisted. BUT, every single Russian person I have ever spoken to about this 100% believe that Crimea is Russian territory. Any attempt to retake Crimea would spark a full mobilisation of the Russian army and the vast majority of Russians would support this, not only support, but demand this.
    This is just a fact. Ukraine need to recognise this. As unpleasant as it sounds, Crimea is gone.

    • @Diggnuts
      @Diggnuts 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The "feeling" of the russian people stopped factoring into this a long long time ago. Not caring about separatist regions where your government has sparked and sponsored a violent insurrection, but simultaneously caring about Crimea being russian is almost a symbol of russias lethargic and demented views on reality.
      In the UN charter, there is no mention of a peoples feeling towards borders. Borders are set and any attempt to change those with force is illegal. This charter was also signed by russia.
      All the territories, including Crimea will be returned As unpleasant that may sound to russians. They'll get over it.
