Ethics is something these stories completely ignore. Just the first scenario alone hurts my brain. A guy develops an app that can accurately predict the stock market. Would that tech alone destroy the economics of every country in the world? There must be balances but if you could predict exactly the gains of every stock, it would ruin the global society at large. A single person could control the entire world financially.
I think you don’t understand that that is already happening these companies, all collude together raised and drop stock prices to get money out of the system And again, if somebody did create such an app, it would not ever be made public. You would never hear about it so it is possible that something like that already exist and people are making billions. Do you really think that people who may have technology to predict the stock market are just gonna tell the world that they can cheat? Think about It buddy

I always find plots are too unrealistic when people with world saving/changing tech choose to use it for short term and selfish reasons while fully knowing the world will end for them and everyone
movie idea, Love , Betrayal , Time machines. " I LOVE IT HERES 10 BILLION DOLLARS " and there are people starving on the street who could havce maybe cured cancer or invented sustainable clean energy. but no we need another one of these.
In cosmos (with Neil) there was a episode where he talked about a certain scientist who made a discovery about gas or oil and he legitimately got threatened by the owners of the biggest oil/gas companies. The guy who made epi pens rose the cost to $800. We already have the means to cure cancer, renewable energy etc.. but the people who make millions if not billions off these industries wouldn’t allow that. These people have so much power and money they could bribe anyone including the president. Our world leaders aren’t really the ones in control of things some individuals as a collective genuinely have the power to economically collapse a country even the world those are the ones that wouldn’t allow such innovations to prosper since that means they’re not going to have that power and money anymore
