Omg u guys are doing what I want other vegan TH-camrs to do. Testing the best bacon egg and cheese so I don't have to. Someone finally understands my needs. Just wish u would of tried the chickapea flour eggs.
I absolutely love the Chao cheeses. For thanksgiving I always cook either a tofurky turkey, or the Field Roast. Field roast "turkey" is my favorite. Then, of course, mashed potatoes, corn and stuffing.
Still not sold on veganegg. I had high hopes. I love some tofu scramble tho. Y'all have made me want to try the rice paper bacon. None of the store bought subs have sufficed. Love your channel!
Hi - I have a suggestion about the 'egg' part of the sandwich that I really like. Take a firm or extra-firm tofu, drain and press for a bit with paper towels. Then slice the tofu into 1/2 inch or so thick slabs. Next - use a round biscuit cutter to cut out a circle of tofu - this is your 'fried egg' before cooking. Season both sides with salt, pepper and turmeric and / or other seasonings of choice. Lastly - pan fry it in a bit of Earth Balance on both sides adding cheese too after flipping. Once you put this on your toast or biscuit and add your 'bacon' - it taste so similar to a fried egg sandwich - really good!!
I love that you guys sat out on the stoop at the end to eat your sandwiches. it was just cute. And thank you for this video, breakfast sandwiches are my favorite! and in the attempt to go vegan this has been the hardest thing to make vegan while still tasting good.
Last thanksgiving I made a vegan lentil shepherd's pie. My whole (non-vegan) family LOVED it. Here's the link: www.oneingredientchef.com/sweet-potato-shepherds-pie/ :)
Thanksgiving was always about the mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing. Everything else is extra. So, I would make those things. (Mushroom and sautéed onion gravy is the best and don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise)
Hey Francisco! If you are looking for a relatively affordable time saver for thanksgiving, Whole Foods does offer catering for the holidays and they have vegan meals available. Feel free to stop into your local Whole Foods market and talk to a rep at the holiday table. They can help you make the right choices! You are also able to get small amounts of stuff if you just want food for yourself. These options are available until January too! Also, the Cinnamon Snail in the pennsy does holiday catering as well! Check out their vegan donuts and other awesome sandwiches they have! You are also able to get single servings of their catered food for the holidays to make it easier and faster when it comes to thanksgiving! Good luck!!! So happy that you've made the switch!
i eat vegan thanksgiving food every month. i love green bean cass, cornbread stuffing with sausage, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie... seriously im thankful all the time... :)
Cisco is lovely. Good on him for going veggie and amazing himself at doing so. It's great to see him so surprised and happy with the vegan foods he tried.
Omg I want to hang out with you guys to hear Fransisco laugh!! 😂 Thank you for reviewing the eggs and cheese! Every time I go to the store, I seem to pick the wrong brand! In this case with the cheese, I chose Violife but I've been hearing amazing things about that Chao cheese.... So I will be getting that next and the other one you guys suggested - the follow your heart. And for an EASY and yummy Thanksgiving meal for Francisco... Tell him to get the Gardein roast! You just take it out of the package and pop it in the oven and bake it!! That's it!! His family should love it too...if not, then they don't have taste buds haha. I will be trying the Field Roasts next and I'm trying to get the Tofurky ham but they aren't shipping it in my area this year and I'm SO mad! I guess there's shortage from the company or something... Ugh. I feel bad for Francisco... His family does not seem supportive at all...and they should also be incorporating some of this into their own diets for not only ethical reasons but health reasons! Good luck to you Francisco and I hope you keep staying open minded about trying new vegan/vegetarian things! 👍
ATTENTION!!!!: If you want a rlly good vegan breakfast sandwich in NYC, go to Orchard St Grocer in China Town and order the Bowery with spicy mayo - I was visiting for two weeks and it was definitely one of my favourite things that I ate while I was there
I really shy away from appearing "sanctimonious" to others, because I honestly don't think I'm better than meat eaters; so now I just eat whatever people offer me during holidays, etc. ( if they don't consider vegetarians) as long as it's edible, and not BUGS! Love "Kalel's" (you tuber) thanksgiving recipes. She bought "Gardeins" holiday roast too, which I think is delicious. First time I tried the original "Chai" cheese, couldn't believe how good it was. It has become a staple in my home ever since. Thank you for another enjoyable vid:)
Totally agree about American Cheese was pretty low bar to begin with. Chao is one of my favorite vegan cheese. Rice bacon crispyness is delicious. But also tempe bacon is super yummy.
Lol! my husband and I had vegan egg sandwich this morning. we had the follow your heart vegan egg and tofutti cheese and just mayo and mustard on toast.
Last year for my first vegan thanksgiving, I had a Tofurkey roast, Mac n cheeze and some maple/cinnamon butternut squash - it was all so delicious and my family (Who Are not vegan or even vegetarian!) absolutely loved it all :)
I also love this video and dat thumbnail 👌 let me know how Cisco likes that gravy recipe! And lastly that time lapse looked really long! #dedication good job guys!
i really appreciate these videos! im trying to move towards a vegan lifestyle (im currently a pescatarian) and on a budget. i cant afford to do a taste test on every product out there so watching yours guides me and makes me feel more confident at the grocery store. thank you!
I remember when u first brought the Follow your heart vegan eggs my mom thought they were actually like eggs like vegan eggs but in egg shells so I put them in the car and she's like "NO YOULL BREAK THEM" and I pulled out the bag "mom it's just powder"
OMG I love this! I'am so eager to try the follow your heart egg and the follow your heart cheese (Chao is life) and I have to make the rice paper bacon ASAP! Vegan green bean casserole chill vegan has a really good recipe for that (found on her video the ultimate guide to a vegan thanksgiving) lentil loaf high Carb Hannah's recipe for that is really good, Hot for food Lauren Toyota's mac n cheese is awesome! As well as the other mac n cheese recipes by Koren Rochelle, mouthwatering vegan TV and Alethea Todaro all of them are different using different ingredients for the cheese sauce And the Vegan Zombie's pumpkin pie recipe is delicious
Hey Duncan and Liz! I really love your content. You guys know how to eat well and so do I. By the way, I work in the City of Duncan, BC, Canada. Did you know this place exists? And although Duncan only has 5,000 residents, there are three vegan restaurants in our superchill downtown. Pretty awesome. You guys should take a tour sometime.
Hadn't heard of it, sounds like a super cool place though--three vegan spots to 5k restaurants is an exceptional ratio. Fun fact, my mom was born in Duncan, Oklahoma. Thanks for your message Kyle!
I’m the same with the chao cheese lol I can eat it just by itself. The follow your heart is good too :) I can’t wait to try the vegan egg! I usually make tofu scramble. I need to up my tofu scramble game and buy black salt! And for bacon I am in love with the sweet earth benevolent bacon. Love your videos! Oh and I’m a ketchup and mayo girl through and through lol...I love mixing it together and using it as a dipping sauce.
Everyone loves the Chao! Everyone I know who's tasted it thinks it tastes like dairy cheese! Great video on a whole! I gotta try making that rice paper bacon. I saw the recipe on Minimalist Baker's site yesterday and thought that was super interesting! Oh, and the biggest game changer I found for vegan eggs whether you're using tofu or the Vegan Egg is adding Black Salt after cooking. Do yourself a favor and go get some - it's eggs to the T!
I know I'm way too late, but I just found your videos. For a vegan Thanksgiving dish: vegan mac n cheese with rice paper bacon bits sounds super delicious!
Super simple, check out the Herbivorous Butcher website, order items from the ala-cart to be shipped to your home. heat it up, and you have a meal to bring. Or see if there is a store in your neighborhood re-selling their products.
My go to is the vegan roast. Honestly it's awesome and leftovers are great in a vegan or vegetarian potpie. Tofurkey is my favorite with homemade gravy. The turkey cutlets from gardein are a close second.
1- Stuffing: www.pepperidgefarm.com/product/herb-seasoned-stuffing/ veggie broth, celery, onions, carrots. Make a few cans of mushroom gravy to go with the stuffing. 2- string beans boil with salt, add juice of orange and lemon, salt and pepper. Done. 3 - Mushrooms sliced and sautéed with oil and balsamic vinegar, add rosemary salt and pepper. 4 - Mash Potatoes, use soy milk, salt pepper and vegan cream cheese. Done. =) Hope that helped!!!
Haha Liz and i have super similar sassy attitudes, and we're both lucky that we have patient boyfriends who dont take it personally . Duncan is such a easy going dude!
Omg. Those all look so good! I still haven't tried the vegan egg from follow your heart. Eggs were definitely the hardest thing to give up and then after a few months of being a vegan I found it brought home annnnnnd forgot about it till it expired 😂 whoops. Now I just stick to tofu scramble but instead of turmeric I use The Vegg vegan egg yolk. So much better! ❤️ That stuff also make amazing pancakes.
I must say, I think Daiya cheddar style cheese slices is the best vegan cheese. So delicious. It’s great for making grilled cheese sandwiches! YUMMY!!!
For thanksgiving/christmas - seitan is GREAT! Take a look at the last video at Connie's RAWsome Kitchen - it is a maple/mustard glazed seitan ham! So delicious it is ridiculous! Cisco: Just a warning, if you make that and bring with you, I bet your family members will fight you for a piece, so make enough! 😊
And, Cisco, if you don't want to cook, you can buy a store bought seitan roast, but home made is best and it is not that much work. When you learn how to make it, it is also great for so many things, deli meat, sausages, roast, steaks/steakettes, burgers etc - lots of variations. And, it is fun to make for sure! 😊👏🙌😍
Try bacon wrapped mushrooms. I used to love that. And I'm from Hawaii we need that ketchup on that food lol. And yes. That Chao cheese is the best one lol
For a dish that would win over omnis, I would make stuffing with the rice paper bacon and using a "no chicken" stock. Any recipe will do, just replace those two things!
I am going to try that egg seasoning combo for sure as those eggs don't excite me. For Thanksgiving is I were to make a dish it would be a really good vegan stuffing served with cranberry sauce and vegan gravy. If really ambitious, I would make a vegan green bean casserole, or hotdish as we call it in MInnesota. YUMMY! Oh and mashed potatoes.
born and raised in ny and it is perfectly acceptable and even common for people to put ketchup on a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich...its usually on a roll too, not a bagel...salt, pepper, ketchup...people say that all the time... "bacon, egg and cheese on a roll. salt, pepper, ketchup"///it even rolls off the tongue nice and quickly "salt, pepper, ketchup"
Cisco - get the breaded turkeyless stuffed roast from Trader Joe's! It comes with gravy and you only have to heat it up (unlike the regular tofurkey that you have to baste)
What about making a pasta salad that suits your diet? It could be just for you (and you could eat the sides you can), or it could go on the table as "far game" so others could enjoy it too!
I LOVE how receptive and willing he is to try vegan food! It's amazing :) I wish more people would be willing to it a try, especially with the endless possibilities.
Hilo Palin The problem isn’t the food, it’s calling it Vegan. People eat vegan food all the time, but they just don’t know it...
By vegan I mean substitutions. I'm not really calling an apple vegan.
My boyfriend is like this!! I am vegan and he is not, but he LOVES to try vegan foods!!

Add nutritional yeast to the tofu scramble too! and those sandwiches are so good with maple syrup but that could just be my Canadian talking.
I add butter on the bread, and ketchup and maple syrup

I love when you guys have guests, and I especially love Francisco’s enthusiasm! He is so much fun to watch!
I find using vegetable broth while making tofu scramble helps the seasonings get iiiiinnnnnnn the tofu like... IN that guy.
jimmy yes that’s the best thing to do, I do the broth and add the spices, comes out amazing 😍
I absolutely love the way he laughs is so contagious.. I'm living for this channel right now
I absolutely love the Chao cheeses. For thanksgiving I always cook either a tofurky turkey, or the Field Roast. Field roast "turkey" is my favorite. Then, of course, mashed potatoes, corn and stuffing.

Yeah I prefer tofu scramble over vegan egg...not to mention it's cheaper too.
Rice paper 'Bacon' is fiddly to make, Try the Eggplant 'Bacon' it's 'Meatier'
Francisco's laugh is so infectious! Liz laughs even harder when he starts up! I was cracking up!

Add Black Lava Salt for an egg taste!!
This is what I do!
Cisco is such a sweetheart! More Cisco!
That rice paper bacon is really nice on a sandwich with vegenaise, cracked pepper, lettuce, tomato, and avocado.

For tofu scramble you have to use a very loose tpfu
Asparagus wrapped prosciutto? LOL
Asparagus wrapped IN prosciutto. A massive difference ;)
Great video-- as always!!
FYI, I’m a New Yorker born and raised, and I would put ketchup ALL OVER that sandwich 😂 Love your videos!!!

I'm from the Bronx and I love mayo on mine!!! lol
and ketchup lol
Salt pepper and ketchup is completely acceptable 😂 love this video!

You can still go on dates (to your so) when you're married ;)
Or..."So she FINALLY went vegan"
Joe Senigaglia it's still a channel to give advice for others who are in their situation and are dating
They said in another video that they're going to leave the title as "So You're Dating A Vegan" even though they acknowledge that they're married.
Potato salad with chives and vegan egg, bacon, mayo. Marinated corn cobs haha mm

I take the trader joe's turkeyless stuffed roast with me to my in-laws. It's super easy and yummy :)
Add some Smart Balance Buttery Spread and you're golden!
Chao cheese! I love chai tea though!
Where did you purchase your bagels?! (In NY area)
What a bunch of cuties! This looks so good and I'm going to have to give this a try.
he should try the brand Field roast they have a holiday roast.
for a roast, I made a seitan from PPK Isa before. Or buy a tofurky, or field roast which I'd like since watching a vid from World of Vegan :)
You should go to Trader Joe's! They have a 'Turkey-Less Roast' that's stuffed with stuffing! It's the bomb!!!
