Types of Baseball Gloves for Every Position

There are different types of baseball gloves for each position on the field. In this video they break down the types of gloves typically used for each position. They go over everything from the obvious Cathers mitt to the not so obvious Utility and Pitchers Gloves. Overall, the type of glove a player uses can have a big impact on their performance, so it's important to choose a glove that is designed for their specific position.

If 11.5 is upper echelon what’s 11.25?

11.5 is the size of a glove. A lot of old timers and coaches use big gloves so we don't have to use our feet as much:)

@Tom a lot of guys I coach with have glove that are 11.75-12.5. If I were going to be coaching a few years, I'd buy a 44 glove or Wilson A2000 personally, but go to your local sporting goods/ baseball shop and see what feels right for you.
I love finding super high end end gloves too, but those are for collecting as much as playing with.

If an athlete is playing multiple positions at the high school and higher level, do you recommend multiple, position specific gloves or a utility glove?

It really depends on the position and player. You could have a utility IF player play 2B/SS/3B with the same glove but I'm personally not a huge fan of utility models and wouldn't want to wear a 12.25" at 3B or in the OF so for me it's individual gloves for each position.
