Big thanks to Annie R. for the fantastic new story! Excited to collaborate with such talented authors for exclusive channel content. Hope you all love this one
LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Stephen... we KNOW it's harder on you, but... seeing YOU speak instead of just the graphics... it's just SO amazingly wonderful. It makes your videos stand out like a lighthouse in a storm. Thank you for doing these videos - don't mean to be greedy, but seeing YOU makes such a difference. Now for the vidoe... the smell of blood... it's indescribable and utterly unforgettable. I'm a combat wounded veteran... I've smelled my OWN blood and that of buddies wounded or... who Went Home... you never forget it. Great story and please know we appreciate you.
🇦🇺👌
Love your channel.... BUT ..
This story just felt too sentimental / Hallmark channel vibes.
I've enjoyed every other story you've narrated, however I think this one is a miss.
Out of curiosity, why do you always change the titles of all if your entries? Sometimes multiple times.
Great stories, but I notice recently the illustration an editing went back to original format for some reason? More audio book than moving picture book feel. Like how my iPhone got rid of dynamic wallpaper display if you get my drift
It’s creepy to think that a floral perfume with a hint of vanilla could be detected. The smell of blood is so intense and unforgettable, that most of us (RNs) can smell a GI bleed as soon as we arrive on the floor. I’m very sensitive to the smell, and can tell you if it’s a bleed, injury, new or old. WOW, I love listening to these stories.
I assume you mean registered nurse.
@@cirkleobserver3217 I do indeed mean Registered Nurse. It’s an extremely common abbreviation, RN, like say MD or medical doctor. I work in both ICU and in ER. The copper penny smell of old blood is unmistakable, especially in GI bleeds. New wounds with fresh blood are not as intense, but the copper smell is still there.
Combat-wounded veteran here... I've smelled my own and the blood of others and you are ABSOLUTELY spot-on... you NEVER forget the odour. Thank you for being an Angel.
The lavender and vanilla is attached to a traumatic memory so it will stand out more for him. Our sense of smell is the sense that will trigger more memories.
As a nurse I will agree GI bleeds are nasty smelling. The copper smell of blood comes from the oxidation of iron molecules. Fresher blood smells less coppery because less of the iron molecules have oxidized.
It’s like the smell of parvo in dogs. I can tell by the smell of the stool if a pup has parvo or not. Of course it’s confirmed, but I’ve learned that distinctive smell and will never forget it….
"It wasn't just mess that bothered me, it was the blood. Most of it was on places it had no business being on..." I would say blood has no business being on any surface.
As a woman. I can think of a few places I'd be less surprised to see blood
I've seen blood on ceiling and walls before. Having to scrub a popcorn ceiling with blood splatters ain't fun, or easy.

Damn that false memories section hit way harder than I was expecting
I just said that out loud. His real mom would never want that for him.
My brother's friend was in the military, then was in school to become a nurse when the 'rona hit. He lost his sense of taste and smell, and about 90 pounds, and is now a crime and death scene cleaner in Seattle. Mostly overdoses so far. So many people just ignore when their "friend" is overdosing, and then either leave or try to hide the body...
The drug rage now is cancer. good luck to you
A few months after my mom passed away I was in my bedroom and all of a sudden I felt a breeze that smelled of my moms perfume. Window was closed and I had no explanation for it, hasn’t happened since but I kinda of wish it would.
I saw my beloved mother-in-law walk across the living room as I stood in the kitchen, just weeks after she passed. I hope you get to have that experience again too.
Condolences. I lost my mom a couple days ago.😢

I lost one of my beloved dogs 12 days ago, and just today had to say goodbye to our girl, and this narration brought a lot of tears to my eyes.
Sometimes I still hear my buddy who died over a week ago, and I heard my girl I just lost only an hour ago. It’s really hard.
Thank you for the story.
I hope you’re doing ok. I lost one of my dogs last year. He had a brain lesion. It was hard.
@@ardenalexa94 Thank you for your words; I'm doing better, I still have moments where something will remind me of them and it'll hit me all over, but we are healing. We got two new little guys to dote on and keep us busy, they won't ever replace who we lost but it's nice to have a companion.
I'm so sorry to hear that. My boy died from heart failure, and my girl gave up after his death (she was 12 and older) and just couldn't go anymore. I'll miss them always.
@@heavenlycrow3961 I understand. I’m the same way about my past pets. And you’re welcome.
I had a cat pass of hyperthyroidism. She had a heart attack because of it. I found her dead later on the day she died. Miss her and my other pets that have passed everyday.
Glad you’re healing. It’s not easy for me, myself, but I’m working on it too. I still have three of my fur babies, so I just try to enjoy their company as much as I can and spend time with them and make sure they know they’re loved everyday.
I clean the last bits that remain after car crashes. It's amazing how the energy released in a combined force of two cars colliding head-on at speed, like hitting a brick wall at 137 mph, actually atomizes blood. It leaves a fine, barely perceptible haze on surfaces, hell even on trees. And the road, the grooves cut in the pavement hold the frozen screams of the highways victims. It's victims. The Tarmac's Toll. One can often hear them late at night while motoring down a lonely stretch of nightened highway, the vibration through the wheels like a ghostly last gasp .. like screams emanating from flames .. like the worst day of someone's life. [coming soon 'the Tarmac;s Toll to a creepypasta near you] :D
His voice is calming
He writes well
That ending twist was stomach churning. It leaves the horror of what happened to his mother unspoken but understood. Very clever use of a callback by the writer. Kudos to them!
I always end up getting the notification of a new video, right before bedtime. I'm getting older now and need my sleep. I tell myself it will still be there in the morning. Do I go to bed, yes right after I watch it. Thank for telling us this story, and thanks to
Annie R. for righting it. I'm old enough to remember getting my entertainment sitting on the floor, listening to old men tell stories. That was all the entertainment we had some times as a kid. And they were master of telling stories. And you sir would have no problem fitting in with them. They would be asking you to tell the stories. You're living proof that the art of storytelling isn't dead. You would have made a lot os money back in the days of the radio dranas, everyone would want too hire you.
👏👏👏👏
I completely agree! Stephen has a gift. His voice takes you places- I feel transported out of the drudgery of daily life, forget my worries, and just get to enjoy. I hope he knows how much his gift means to so many.
I listen to it while I’m falling asleep, the best of both worlds!
I listen to fall asleep to these stories 😴
He really is the best story teller. My mom read to us as kids and always did the voices. It brings back wonderful memories
I've always compared his storytelling to the old radio shows also. And don't worry about how old you are listening to these at bedtime bc about 2years ago I made a post about not believing at age 44 I'd need to listen to bedtime stories in order to fall asleep. Well I got so many comments from others saying the same thing and giving their ages. So I started referring to us as the "creepy bedtime story club" and the last time I checked the thread which was a few weeks ago there were 130 of us now. So I'm officially welcoming all of y'all to the club.
I believe the story that I made that comment on was the one about being a news reporter and they are being forced to lie about what's going on in Green Briar Valley if you haven't listened to that one it's a good one to check out.
Edit: the title is "I work the night shift at a news station, this town has a creepy secret."
So, this is how his mom died! In this house when she was probably for cleaning?! When they found her car near an empty lot.
Might be nice to not have spoilers come up in the comments while I'm watching/listening to the story.
@@christopheraaron1255Don't read film reviews while you're still in the theater
Do you wonder if this is where mom’s car was found in a ditch? I’m wondering.
@@DameNickum I'm wondering about whether or not she went there for cleaning, like her son. Other than that, the clues in the story were obvious that it was the same place.
@christopheraaron1255 You shouldn't read the comments before listening to the story. The comments actually follow the story not vice versa 😊😂
Chalk outlines when it comes to this stuff only exists in movies.. I honestly do not know why that myth even exists. Its something that was never done in real life. It makes me think of that myth where people believed that dead bodies somehow grew longer fingernails and longer hair.. Its just not true. As the body rots the skin loses collagen. Making the skin itself shrink a bit and reveal more of the nails and hair. But that one is a more believable myth compared to the chalk outline thing.. Just one that should have been dismissed a very long time ago but I still hear people talk about it as if its true just like the chalk outline myth.
Hello good sir!
@@theexalius7947Umm.. Hello?
Lighthouse Horror doing one of these a week is heartbreaking. All the same he's still high quality, I just wish he uploaded twice a week. His stories and narration are that good.
It’s amazing to get a fully realized story in 36 minutes or less. This is one of the best from this creator, but they’re all good. Great story choices and superb narration. Among the best of its kind, which is a pretty short list.
I follow a death scene clean up professional on here-- most don't specialize in just homicides or even crime scenes, though often the officials on scene are the ones that give their contact info. Honestly, more common in those times when a loved one passed and wasn't found for a bit, it was a messy end, or especially those that took their own life-- he says he does it because it's probably the worst day of those loved ones' lives already and they shouldn't have to be left with cleaning that up. And with just one sentence it did become art to me, strangely an art wrought of the deepest kindness one could give to a stranger.
What's their channel? I was watching one before but I can't find their channel again. Hasn't popped up recently. Hoping that might be the same one I watched.
@@jenblueangel05 Biggie Clean-- he also has some content cleaning hoarder houses for free to help those people-- and there's another i can't find on my massive sprawling follow list but if i think of it I'll come add.

The Best Narriator and Story Teller .
From personally experiancing sucicidal thoughts and fighting to live some days. Stories like this mean something deeper. They are the embodiemnt of my dark thoughts that lie to me. I have a happy loving wife and kids. I stay here for them. One day I will eventually be here for myself. I try so hard to love myself but 3 years ago my life was altered. So its a chore to love myself but I have not found that passion yet. But I stay here for my family. They are my anchor to life.
I hear you. If it's any consolation, I've reached a point where I'm no longer fearful of the depression (&/or anxiety) when it comes & I now understand & trust that t will pass, I will survive & I will be okay. I pray you get to this place, too 🙏💜

Honestly refreshing to hear a story where they don't describe blood as smelling like copper because it really doesn't. I've smelled a good bit of blood, and I've smelled a good bit of copper, and they do not smell anything alike at all.

I am looking forward to the next story!!!
This was chilling and terrific story, well told.
This reminds me of something I read. In Japan, due to the dissolution of the nuclear family, many old people are dying alone in their homes. This is a serious superstition in Japan, and owners are finding it hard to rent or sell places where people have died. Many people in Japan believe that spirits can linger after death, and that their anger can be provoked if someone treats them with disrespect. One man began a clean up service that cleans up such homes. He insists on treating the scene and the person's belongings with respect---asking permission to enter at the front door, before he and his team enter. The cleaners speak with respect when they talk about the deceased and handle his belongings. When the clean up is finished, he says goodbye at the door and says Buddist prayers for the deceased. His business has taken off fabulously, as owners state no problem with new tenants, that the apartments are left not only physically clean but spiritually clean as well. Superstition or not, it works.
I wonder what called him to go to that house and why was he targeted. Guess we will never know.
The cleaner found a blood sigil.
Indeed. The house needs more than housecleaning. It needs ritual cleaning. Sweetgrass and sage smudging, and sea salt everywhere.
Really love your unique story telling hooked me a few weeks ago . Now i look for when you post, I lost my son a few years back and he had that special something also
