That hub, a monitor, a keyboard and even just a phone as a touch pad can perfectly suffice as a desktop experience for a bunch of people. I'm glad DeX is picking up speed and attention, it's been such a slept-on feature in Samsung devices.
Ran across this video a couple months ago by accident... ordered one and messed around with it a little and thought it was too good to be true... HDMI kept dropping out for about 5 seconds every minute like clockwork... super annoying... saw another video about USB-C cable quality and BOOM!! mystery solved... the USB-C to USB-C cables that come with this unit aren't so great... so i ordered a premium cable and I"M STOKED... i use Samsung DEX A LOT!!! It's my living room media center on Galaxy S22 Ultra with 7 terabytes of hard drive storage connected and ethernet ... this is exactly the device i've been looking for and so glad i ran across this video that day ... thanks for the info!!!
Samsung needs to make a dex doc with built in NVMe drive in the same form factor as this device. Add a Solid Audio Dac/Amp combo and this could REALLY shake up the game, so long as Samsung continues to push forward in their Dex app development.
Thank you so much for this video. I bought one of these the other day on Amazon (it hasn't gotten here yet), and it was one of those items where the seller automatically sends you an Amazon message asking if you have any questions. Someone on Reddit pointed me to this saying it worked with DeX, and one of the Amazon question/answers said it did, so I had no doubt. So I shot a message back thanking them, and asking if it worked with DeX (thought I'd double check). They reply "Well you need a DeX capable monitor"... pretty sure they don't know what DeX is. 😂 So anyway, I told them well, whatever, I'll let them know if it works. And this confirms it! This is important to me... I'm on social security now living month to month, and if my PC craps out, I'm up shits creek without a paddle. But this thing will at least let me have a sort-of desktop experience with the only really premium piece of hardware I have... my Samsung S23 Ultra. So thank you very much for your video, I don't know why I didn't look up this thing on TH-cam before I clicked "buy." I wish I could have used your affiliate link!
What I really need is an official list of docks that work with Samsung Dex. I had to buy 3 or 4 before I found one that could establish an HDMI connection to my phone.
It's meant for an on-the-go desktop experience. Most monitors or tv still have a VGA ports on it. You don't bring your monitor or tv with you and its goal is project to a larger screen that is readily available on the market. So either VGA and or HDMI is just right DP is not common, unfortunately.
As a Tab owner, with the S8+ it definitely fits the bill for someone who uses the device full time. I could have a "desktop like" station with a monitor and such with the dock and simply plug in my tab to switch to a seamless desktop experience.
All I want is something with 4k 60hz that has charging passthrough and a USB for my steel series wireless headphones. Just to play COD mobile on my note 20 ultra. My first one worked perfectly for 10 hours then started flickering and getting black screen then completely died. My second one a different brand would only do 4k 60hz in Dex when I manually changed the setting. The recommended setting was 30hz and for the life of me wouldn't do 60hz in mirror mode which is what I need 4k 60hz in mirror mode. My third one which will arrive today I'm crossing my fingers. I don't think I'm asking for a whole lot from one of these things I just want it to work.
I recommend using baseus dex docking station, your phone can still stand while being used for dex which means you can also use a cooler with it that helps to sustain performance for your dex station. Also it looks more organized too
mine came with a macbook host chord does that affect me to be able to use the host as samsung? I used the chord that came with my samsung phone but it doesn't work
If you have a hub with two HDMI ports is it possible that the s8 ultra is on dex mode then il be extending it to a monitor? Or it just mirror the dex mode ? Thanks
What happens if you have dual screens connected (HDMI cables) like for a laptop that supports dual screen, unplug your laptop and connect Samsung Dex. Does it still work just on one monitor? Or do you have to unplug one of the HDMI cables. Thanks great video!

Wow nice! Thank you for watching😎
I plan to use this for DEX on my S22 Ultra. What would be the best USBC cable to purchase to avoid drop outs?
Which high quality HDMI CABLES did you order ?
❤ Dex

hagibi has dock + storage
Absolutely. It's not like there is no demand, no financial and engineering resources to materialize it. Good call.

looks good. funny place for memory card slots, shld be in front.
bummer no 100w pd
That's a whole lot for people who don't want a computer. Thanks for the review
Yeah adds a whole lot more!
Thanks for watching 👊🏿
VGA? WTH. Surprised it doesn't have a floppy drive built in. Display port would actually have been useful.

My iPad M1 12.9" dream.
pretty slick!
Definitely useful! Thanks for watching 👊🏿
Nice!
🙏🏿 Preciate it!
This USBC hub is a beast!! But it is abit of overkill for DeX. And at that price ... Hmmmm
Definitely overkill for Dex! Just the way I chose to showcase it since I don't have a computer.

Yep you called it...Thank you for watching 👍🏿
@@vdoestech thank you
@@vdoestech I've bought 2 dock that wernt compatible so I sent them back think it would be awesome for emulation gaming and other tasks

Would have been great to test an external webcam. But will pick a similar competitor and see what comes of it.
Thanks for the demo.
I just use the cameras on the tab s7.
Thanks for the input though , appreciate you watching 🙏🏿
@@vdoestech a separate camera would be ideal for online gamers so they could cam up while gaming
@@leonardsrcgarage1919 im not sure that it possible to connect webcam that way.
@@kolyan420 you can
@@leonardsrcgarage1919 oh really? And how to install it at Android? Or it is special model of webcam?
And what the resolution on monitor? 4k?
Can you try Xbox Gamepass with the ethernet connected? No one has done that and I wonder would it be playable
I really need this hub man
Can you use Dex with two monitors?
How does the framerate go for less than 4k? Also, how well does it work with hdmi 1.4, 2.0?
Wish I could like this twice for the algorithm lol
Appreciate that man 👊🏿
mine came with a macbook host chord does that affect me to be able to use the host as samsung? I used the chord that came with my samsung phone but it doesn't work
You should be good. Yeah your type c cable that came with your device can't host.
how to get the keyboard/mouse to work on dex and tablet?
If you have a hub with two HDMI ports is it possible that the s8 ultra is on dex mode then il be extending it to a monitor? Or it just mirror the dex mode ? Thanks
If im understanding what your asking, It's just gonna mirror
Can you run a duel screen using the hub?
Yes it can handle dual displays

Can a web cam be use if so this would be a game changer
Reviews say web cams are supported
But I don't have a web cam to confirm.
@@vdoestech oh ok I have one ill have to try it out
Does it also charge your host device?
Yes it does...The provided brick is a fast charger also!
Does this work on iOS?
Will this work with Samsung DeX instead of a MaC or PC
Hmmmmmmm🤣
@@vdoestech is that a no? I'm not sure
Yes it works with Samsung Dex
The whole video is me using it on dex
@@vdoestech Ha ha ha.... I completely missed the mark on that one. Thank you.
Yep no issues 👍🏿
