The film is heartbreakingly beautiful. I spent 5 years of my childhood living in Mocambique and often when I see films where Africa is portrayed, I feel people are portrayed as cardboard characters and the richness of culture and warmth of people is missing. It shows the meeting of religions and traditions that is Africa and which is perfectly normal, the scavenging and inventiveness of people who have to make the most of what they have. It is great to see netflix give space to content that transcends borders, and tells a much wider story of our world, and it's a great directorial debut for Chiwetel. I watched the movie this last weekend and was wondering where William was now. Thank you for answering that question! Heartwarming tale! I am so glad I watched it!
The reason why chiwetel is underrated is because he's genuine. He doesn't try to brand himself or act superficial. He doesn't talk much about useless stuff, and is a man who genuinely loves what he does, and would rather talk about what he actually DOES than bullshit around about fake stuff.
As soon as I recognized him I was like "OMG it's Mordo" Anyways going to his film which I have not yet seen, the use of subtitles I have seen in another show aired here in Jamaica called Generations which is an African soap opera. So to hear that the movie uses a similar structure bilingually I was taken back to that show. And to actually be in Malawi and speak a Malawian language? I agree authenticity is over 900000
This was such a touching story and inspiring. I can't imagine living where everyone is struggling yet they give trust to the youth who helps restore their community. Very powerful!!!

Watched movie last weekend on Netflix . Actors and director has created such an authentic environment that after few minutes you feel like they are actual characters and not actors. William’s struggle to get access to library almost made me cry.
I just watched the movie, I'm very impressed, chiwetel actually learned the language, Applause 👏
The language component to this film, the accuracy of experience and the brilliant acting make this movie unforgettable. This should be required watching for students around the world.
I've just finished watching the movie. Such artistry! I'm particularly impressed by Chiwetel's command of ChiChewa.
I watched the movie this last weekend and was wondering where William was now. Thank you for answering that question! Heartwarming tale! I am so glad I watched it!
I literally read your comment as he answered his whereabouts omg 7:21
loved this moview....finally a movie with a brown face that isn't just about sport acuity or a big personality but a pure heart and mind
I feel like every time mr ejiofor opens his mouth something life changing and epic is going to come out
The reason why chiwetel is underrated is because he's genuine. He doesn't try to brand himself or act superficial. He doesn't talk much about useless stuff, and is a man who genuinely loves what he does, and would rather talk about what he actually DOES than bullshit around about fake stuff.
As a Malawian, I am truly happy and excited. Can't wait to watch it
Came across the movie out of nowhere IT IS SO GOOD probably my favorite out the last few years
Chiwetel deserves an Oscar for this movie - he spoke native Malawian language throughout the movie. Dude’s mind blowing. Bravo 👏
You can say that again not an easy thing
My god that man is amazing ever since I saw him in serenity I hope him and idris do a film or show together talk about chemistry there.🥃🥂
This is art for him… He is fully dedicated to the art of acting. & he speaks through the roles he chooses to be a part of . ❤his art. Very smart man.
wow i am blown away, the movie was phenomenal, i was so shocked to see him speak in the native language and i was hooked through out the movie.
I agree authenticity is over 900000
Omg. I remember Generations.
"He chose to live in the Solution" love it!
This movie was so good! Everyone who was a part of should be so proud!
The switching languages thing is so real! I do that all the time with my family
Amazing angle for a story teller.
After this interview I went straight to watch it😢😢What a brilliant movie ....I was sobbing like a bby
Intellectual interview as always
Watching this soon. It's in my queue on Netflix.
What is the name pls

@@msistah247 thanks a lot 🙋
Best movie ever 2019, brought tears to my eyes
This was such a touching story and inspiring. I can't imagine living where everyone is struggling yet they give trust to the youth who helps restore their community. Very powerful!!!
Great interview, I love both of these great men. Even at 45 years young on March 24th still gives me hope for a better life and way of living. Stop believing only happens when you die.
Lot of love from Nairobi,Kenya..

He's chewa was spot on and authentic. The whole movie is near and dear to my heart cause if the effort chiwetel put in. Truly a gem of an actor
I just watched this movie also, and was so deeply touched and inspired by it. I’ve known this for a long time, but Americans are so incredibly spoiled. We kick, we scream, we demand and whine for more, when in reality we have so much and should be giving so much more back to the rest of the world. Humbling and beautiful true story. Thank you so much.
That's why many African immigrants especially Nigerians
Excel , in the Western Countries, the opportunities are boundless if you work for it. People in America are truly spoiled and need to wake up.
Chiwetel... a great man to remember
Mr Chiwetel Ejiofor is BRILLIANT! The movie was breathtakingly beautiful.
This man's voice does things to my heart
A Unique and Authentic Director's perspective from the eyes of the beholder.
Awesome Actor, Ejiofor also worked along side Angela Jolie in the movie ''SALT'' !
That movie is awesome.we need more of these stories.being from India I could relate a lot. Just watch the freaking movie
I was with william in high school in south africa. I always felt like a failure whenever i spoke to him and i still do
The more I see of Chiwetel Ejiofor the more I get to like him. A man of principles, very admirable and underrated.
🇲🇼🇲🇼 proud Malawian... Filimu yabwino kwabasi🙌🙌. Couldn't be more proud of the authenticity in it about my language mixed with English .. Putting us out there.
Sitting here watching the man who fell to earth and I had zero ideas he had this beautiful accent. Chiwetel Ejiofor is an amazing underrated actor. Bravo Sir🙏🏽
I loved the movie and I am so proud of Ejiofor for his honest portrayal. I’m from Zambia but I’m Chewa and I really enjoyed listening to the Malawian Chichewa and appreciated that Ejiofor showcased the language and didn’t make all the characters speak English the whole time. I hope this movie gets the respect and shine it deserves.
Ended my last week with this movie right after coming back from work. What a fresh, beautiful, authentic movie. So happy to hear more about the movie from Chiwetel with Trevor! 10/10 recommend.
Saw the movie 2 hours ago, and when I open youtube I saw this.
It was one of the most Inspiring Film this 2019, the message and delivery of every actor is very real and authentic!
Amazing job.
That's commitment, learning a language to pass the message in a movie. Love this guy before and my respect for him now has tripled.
The dog deserves an Oscar, I am quite sad it died though. An amazing film!
Spoiler
Who‘s coming right after having watched the film? A really inspiring and encouraging movie. I‘m keen to see more movies like that in our changing communities!
I came here from the movie and it is amazing to see these two African men/men with African roots spread an African success story which a thoroughly underrepresented on an international stage.
I friggin LOVED the memoir and think it’s so cool that William graduated from Dartmouth in 2014. THIS STORY NEEDED TO BE TOLD!!!!
I love him, the first time I saw him was in a movie called 'Amistad' and I just love him, shot out to Africa 👏
A breathtaking movie. Finally a production that shows an African country not crowded by starving and looter people. They heroes, common people like everywhere. I hope more productions about Africa, about their history !!!!!!!
