Dainsleif travelled with Lumine and found out that she is the reason for the calamity and chose to not protect Khaenri'ah for that reason. "Command me show me that you are worthy of saving her, and all the threads of fate shall be yours to reweave" I actually think this hints that Dainsleif and Nibelung is the same person because it was the dragons that ruled over Theyvat and it's stated in game that Nibelung was corrupted by forbidden knowledge it so happens that Dainsleif has that corruption on him
