  • The Trinity in Christian metaphysics is also a key component since the nature of God is reflected in the universe.

Planning to put the Trinity in my next video title just to trip the google notifications the anti-Trinitarians have set. Looking forward to that algorithm boost.

With respect, I’m not sure I agree we can conclude all of what was said from 1 John 4:8 can be exegeted to the interpretation given. Would you be able to provide where God describes Himself as a qualitative essence such as love?

Judge: "the people here claim that a trinity exists. You are the DECISIVE witness! Are you in a trinity, in a close union with TWO other divine persons?"
Jesus: "No your honor, I am not. I am in a close union WITH THE FATHER ONLY"
Judge: "No trinity exists. The case is dismissed".

C'mon...Jesus implicitly and even explicitly DOZENS of times tells us He is ONLY with the Father!! NEVER with two divine persons. Jesus does not even know what a trinity is supposed to be, He is NEVER WITH FATHER AND HOLY SPIRIT. Don't you feel something inside, like watching somewhere else, like rejecting truth and defending falsehood?

Except the Great Commission of Matthew 28 or the Paraclete in John 14 or the divine name YHWH being used for all three or the Spirit of God being IDed in the OT or the apostles recognizing the teaching or the early church.

You perfectly understand, but you are fleeing as it is usually done: other arguments, personally attacking credibility of the interlocutor, creating confusion, pretending the objection was not clear...the trinity has no future because stinking false and nonsensical. Christianity has no hope when clinging to it.

Where is the trinity theory put forward in scripture? Which book, chapter or verse teaches one God in three persons? What verse mentions the words "coeternal" "coessential" or "coequal?" Where is hypostatic union, eternal generation or one substance? God is not a trinity.God never tells us he is a trinity. The Hebrew words for God: Adonai, Yahweh, Elohim never mean a trinity. God is: "the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." A Father is an individual, not a trinity. The words: I, me, he, him, single personal pronouns are used of God about 20k times in the Bible. Jesus told us the greatest commandment is: "Hear Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord." (Mark 12:29) God is never referred to as a trinity.

John 1 is a great place to start when it comes to Trinitarian conversation. The Word is clearly identified as Jesus and clearly as being with God and being God. The cry of Thomas of "my Lord and my God". The attempted stoning of the Jews for Jesus claiming to be God. John 12 referencing Isaiah seeing Jesus in Isaiah 6...etc.
And this "where in The Bible does it say these exact words?" is not really a strong argument. We are not solely limited by the words of Scripture - it's sola scriptura not solo scriptura.

@@CaveToTheCrossApologetics John 1 says the Logos was with God and was God. Logos= God's word, wisdom. It does not say Jesus was with God and was God. It's God's word, wisdom which became flesh in Jesus.
Thomas is the only person in the entire Bible who calls Jesus "my God." No-one else does.
Peter called Jesus "Messiah, Son of the living God." Angel Gabriel calls Jesus "Son of the Most High." At his baptism and his transfiguration God himself calls Jesus "my Son." King David calls Jesus "lord."
Thomas as a Jew would never have believed Jesus is God Almighty. Jesus told people if you have seen me you have seen the Father. Jesus represents God like no-one else. God was in Christ Jesus reconciling the world to himself. Thomas finally came to that understanding. John 1:18 proves that Jesus isn't God because Thomas saw Jesus and no man has ever seen God.
If you take Thomas literally then you have missed John's whole purpose in writing his gospel: "so you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (Jn 20:23)
God is immortal, Jesus died. God cannot be tempted, Jesus was. God knows everything, Jesus does not know when he will return and had to grow in wisdom. God anoints, Jesus is the anointed. God doesn't have a God, Jesus does. God doesn't pray, Jesus did.

So all of a sudden pronouns which you pointed out in your OP don't matter?
The Word is pronounced as HE and follows from the rest of the passage that He dwelt with God, was God, and all things were made by Him. Colossians 1:16-17 also confirms this. And HE dwelt among us. Says nothing about becoming flesh IN Jesus. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us AS the only Son.
But Thomas IS a person that calls Jesus God? Yes? Why does Jesus stop that blasphemy if He is not? He's already correcting Thomas, here's where Jesus needs to correct the proclamation not John the author many chapters later.

@@CaveToTheCrossApologetics The Logos was with God and was God. The Logos is personified as 'he' in John 1. That doesn't make the Logos a person. In Prov 8, wisdom is personified as female. That doesn't mean wisdom is a woman who was with God in the beginning.
The apostle John is giving us his account of Jesus and his purpose in writing is so you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (Jn 20:23) If you come away from John's gospel believing Jesus is God the son, you have missed John's purpose in writing.
Please tell us if Jesus is God, how could he die, not know everything, have a mother, have a God, pray to God and tell us that God is greater than he is?
