- In this video, we begin scratching the surface of multi-instance fixtures and how to call them in GrandMA3. Quick overview of what instances are: instances allow additional control of complex fixtures when attributes are either repeated or have different zones to be manipulated separately. We will go into further detail in a later video, but this is a simple break down for now.

Simply breaking down what you need to know about multi instance fixtures. Thanks for the great and short explanation!
The adventures of multi-instance demystification!
@@mwlighting yeah, you name it! Was quite intimidating to touch these fixtures at first and even more exhausting not knowing how to select them the right way
yeah, finally a new GrandMA3 Tutorial Channel! Welcome, looking forward for new content.
The length and style is very nice :-)
This is dope, keep going man it's great content and we have so few in english on the internet !
Nice 🔥 knew there had to be a better way to select groups of multiple instances. 🙏 Thanks
You're awesome. thanks for this!
Thanks! Plenty more to come!
How do I do this with selection grid to run fx?
Another cool shortcut to select all instances across multiple fixtures;
101 thu 106.
The dot at the end of the command will select all instances in that range of fixtures!
Yes! Instance selection made simple!
Looking back, I really wish I had added that to the video, but I’ll be going much deeper into the programmer and syntax in future videos!
what to do if your fixture does not show any FID for the SubFixtures but the light itself has subfixtures
First thing I would check is that you chose the correct channel mode when the fixture was patched.
This video makes things really clear, however I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Noticed your fixture sheet has all of the subfixtures dimmer @0. Which makes sense for you to then select and @Full any subfixture you want. However I have a show file with multiple types of fixtures with subfixtures, and all of my subfixtures on my fixture sheet are showing @100. Which then doesn't allow me to control them how I need. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks!
Great question! What is the fixture? Have you opened the fixture profile for make sure the subfixture dimmer channels aren’t defaulted to 100%?
@@mwlighting Thanks for the reply, I tried it with 3 seperate fixtures that we own in our lighting house and all of them were the same deal on the fixture sheet. I found out how to default all the subfixtures to 0 but i can't control them without defaulting the parent fixture to 100. Which works, but i just noticed everything on your fixture sheet is at 0 and you can just grab and control what you want.
ADJ Vizi Wash Z19 in 29 channel mode, which gives you ring control
Elation Seven Batten 72 in 78 channel mode, just a huge LED bar with i think 10 or 12 zones
and also the JDC1 in 68 Spix mode
@@danielbrimley8662 I am having the same issue with Elation Cuepix Pannels, Chavuet Pix-M and Chauvet Batten Quad 12's.
So Annoying.
And remember to always save your show file!
What are the fixture u are using here?
Chroma-Q Colorforce II 72
@@mwlighting You gotta mention that in the video, but thanks. And why didnt you show us how you did the effect at the beginning? These tutorials are too short and background music is not needed
I did say what they are at (0:33). I didn’t show how to make the effect in this video because that is not what this video is about. Feel free to check out my videos on phasers, though! Also, I intentionally make these videos short so that the viewer can receive all necessary information as quickly and efficiently as possible.
@@mwlightingAlright, I didnt notice. I’m a beginner so I need more in depth tutorials
No problem, I appreciate the questions! I’ve got plenty more content, including longer in-depth videos, coming up, so hopefully I can help answer many more of your questions.
