Cue Recipes in GrandMA3
มุมมอง 4.4K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
#grandma3 #malighting #lightingdesign In this video, we take a quick dive into recipes, specifically in cues. Recipes is one of the greatest resources MA3 has provided and I am sure you will agree after working with them. Stay tuned for more videos about recipes and how to manipulate them! Sequences in GrandMA3
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
#grandma3 #malighting #lightingdesign In this video, we look at how to create sequences and assign them to executors. Sequences allow operators to playback different looks and presets, in the form of cues. Those cues are triggered by executors, which bring the tactile control of your programming to a console. This is just our first look into sequences, so stay tuned for more to come!

    How to assign a group to a fader bro?

    • @mwlighting
      @mwlighting 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can press “Assign”, select your group, and then select any executor. This will, however, only act as a group master, so it will not output light, but instead limit your overall intensity for the selected group. If you want to control intensity (dimmer), select the group, select your dimmer preset or set a dimmer value in the feature group labeled “Dim”, press store, and then select an executor to store to.

    Hello my friend. What does it mean DS DC and so on? Thanks

    • @mwlighting
      @mwlighting 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those represent stage directions. For example, DS is down stage, and SR is stage right. These acronyms help me know which fixture selection is stored to that group, especially if the group only contains a portion of a certain fixture type, based on their location.

    • @mwlighting

      Think of it like this. Layout views can give you a visual representation of your stage, fixtures and subfixtures, all depending on how you choose to set them up. Selection grids are meant to represent how a phaser will move across your selection.

      You can use single step to see the values for a specific step without them bouncing to the next step, but you don’t have to. As long as you have the step you want to change selected (i.e. 1/2, 2/2, 3/17, etc.), you can change the values or presets referenced and even see it update in the active phaser.

    • @mwlighting
      @mwlighting 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You will need a piece of MA3 hardware to unlock parameters (output). I highly recommend the onPC 2port node. It unlocks 4,096 parameters (which is the cap for an onPC setup). It’s the cheapest option and you can buy Artnet/sACN nodes for additional output ports for much less than if you bought an 8port node.

    • @mwlighting
      @mwlighting 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah you’ll definitely be looking at a console if you want any parameter count greater than 8 universes worth. You’ll be looking at around $24,000USD for the least expensive console MA offers. If you’re US based, you’ll want to go through ACTlighting. I’m not 100% sure who the primary EU vendor is, but I know Thomann sells them as well.

That command might look like “Go+ page 1.(starting exec) thru (ending exec)” So if exec button 1.101 is my “All On” and execs 1.301 thru 1.305 are my individual execs, I would write this in the command line in exec 1.101: “Go+ Page 1.301 thru 305”

      @mwlighting 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! You can make your effects, but leave the matricks off and don’t select a phase. Store the effect preset. Next, store a blank preset and turn it into a recipe preset. In the recipe line, leave the selection column blank, select the preset you made in the values column, and then select any matricks preset you want in the matricks column. If you don’t have matricks presets, you can set the Phase From and Phase To in the columns further in the recipe for the X, Y and Z axis, as well as add blocks, groups and wings on those axis too. Now when you select a group and then the recipe preset, the effect and matricks information will universally work with any selection of fixtures. This is actually my next video, I’ll explain it well there!

      Thank you for your comment! I do think that the GMA2 effects engine is very user friendly, however, the versatility and ability to make very specific and intricate effects with phasers far outweighs the learning curve. Just a small tip. In real life if you had fixtures doing this circle you would find that they would be pointing up stage not down stage as in your 3D window. When rigging fixtures in real life 99.9% of the time they are rigged tails upstage. The resulting affect is that the circle needs to be made with steps of Tilt 100 & 40 (not negative). Yes I know you can flip tilt in the patch but if you are building a base show file you want it best you can. Believe me I learnt the hard way with this.

      Thank you for sharing. It is highly dependent on the orientation of fixtures, as well as what their internal settings for positive/negative pan/tilt are. I’ve seen both, even when the tails are all faced the same way. It’s annoying, but relevant.

      Great question! It’s yes and no. If all of your tilt presets are the same and are stored as universal, any new fixtures brought into a recipe will adapt. Simply breaking down what you need to know about multi instance fixtures. Thanks for the great and short explanation!

      @@mwlighting yeah, you name it! Was quite intimidating to touch these fixtures at first and even more exhausting not knowing how to select them the right way

    Great Video! a note for those whose heads may be exploding: make sure the Values button at the top of the Phaser Editor is set to Abs+Rel or Absolute. Mine was only on Relative, and I couldn't see or properly edit the shape with the handles. it wasn't till I opened a different view where I had the phaser in a window, vs the overlay and saw the handles and points correctly, that I wondered why my overlay was broken. ... it was just set differently. Gotta see those absolute values for this to work this way.

    The music was no issue. Perfect for filling "dead space" and keeping a nice flow. Good work, keep it up.
