Classic sauce for Mantu is the yellow split cheakpeas/lentils (whatever it is called in English, but in Dari it is called Daal-nakhod) with garlic yoghurt/chaka sauce, with optional tomato sauce. On the other hand, the classic sauce that goes with Ashak is kidney beans/lobiya sauce and garlic yoghurt/chaka sauce. You can't go wrong with these combinations.
Afghan dishes are really well balanced between very spicy Indo-Pakistani and mild spicy Central Asian /Persian cuisine. No wonder it is the gateway to Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Central Asia!
No every family makes their own version, we put kofta pashan and lentil peas on it. Just because your mom makes with kidney beans that doesn’t mean it’s authentic
Loved all that lamb. Loved coming to Vancouver every 2 years from 1990 to 2016. Almost as many different countries cuisine as here in London England. My partner and I tried many different cuisines when over in Vancouver. Did you order for 2 or for 4 ? Enjoyed your vlog.
Afghan food is more diverse than Iranian food. We have everything they have + way more food options. Dumplings (mantu) we have Oshack, which is a dumpling filled with chives and the meat sauce and yogurt would go on top with spices. We have many different rice dishes. We also have just about every Indian food dish, and one of my favorites you take on picnics, called Du-piaz-A. If you know you know 😂
only criticism is that this youtber has the annoying habit of OVER using the word " Super " its pretty common with North amaricans , when you hear it for the 100 th time in a short video its TOO MUCH ... there are OTHER words ya know
As an Afghan American I thank you for sharing this video because most TH-camr’s are boring and they never try anything different like Afghani food.
They're missing out!

Agreed! Some of the world's most iconic dishes have their roots in central Asia
I ❤ Afghan food in which I had few or many times here in Canada.
Awesome..Thank You❤️
Love your vids man. I like the awkward humor and how you describe the food. I'm hoping your channel grows in 2023.
Thanks! Me too lol
my mouth's watering, I wish I could eat these foods specially the lamb kebab
Wow😍😋
In "Ashak" we have kidney beans over it not lentils. plus we have yogurt paste over it. The last restaurant have made a new version of their own.

The plan was to order normal portions but things quickly got out of hand 😒
Wow 🤤 so yummy.

music so loud 👎👎
Looking ok afghani food not the best afghani kofta never raw that is Iranian kobida 😊😊😊😊
یا خدا حالا نوبت غذا افغانستان شد که مال ایران شود از دزدی فرهنگ و شاعر های ما خسته نشدید؟
The food looks ok, but still far from real Afghan food. The bolani was bad and Lobiya looked awful. The Aash, nothing even close.
