How to Repair your Cricket & Corky Haunted Dolls!

- Man to think these were the toys to have back in the day...Really Creepy & Scary!!!
But just like any toy or moving thing, parts break down or need to be repaired.
Today we are going to take apart our (New) Little buddy Corky by Playmates from way back in 1986.
Same steps apply in repairing the 1985 Cricket doll by Playmates as well.
Super easy fix...follow the steps and if you happen to have one of these "Classic/Vintage" Toy Dolls from back in the day, now's your chance to shine!
Doll back in the day were some creepy...you really never give it another thought growing up as a kid!
But being a big kid now...Yep! Let's make them into Scary and Haunted Dolls haha!

Greetings from New Zealand. My wife who's now 40 kept her Cricket doll all these years and now thanks to your video I have managed to get her working again as good as new much to the delight of our 4 year old daughter who is in love with her.

Actually, I must admit that for its time, Corky was a truly technological miracle, it looks great, although quite scary for an adult after seeing the Chucky doll. Nevertheless, it is really impressive. What I like most is that at the beginning this toy itself tells the child how to use it, about the cassettes, buttons and batteries, a great idea (because who reads instructions).
Lol 🤣 what are instructions 🤣 😂 😅 yes these dolls back in the day were superior 🤪

I had a Corky and My Buddy doll when I was a baby and I was obsessed with Child's Play. My mom would find me in her room with the VHS playing with Corky by my side and she hated it 😂😂

Rubber bands rot & break pretty quickly. Replacement drive belts last much longer (may also produce more responsive animation since they have less stretch). ✌
I still have my cricket. I need her fixed. 😍
Well maybe this will help assist in her repair...they are exactly the same. Our Cricket just had bad rubber bands 😁

If he functions off of a cassette tape then somebody should just take recordings of the child's play doll voice and put the cassette tape inside that doll and make it say the stuff from the movie
Today I bought a corky but I don't know if it works, I will get batteries, but if my mouth fails thanks to your video I will be able to repair it! Cheers

hello!! I finally checked it, bought batteries and turned it on. but!! when I put in a cassette it plays it very fast; (so I will have to open it and check the cassette

Great video! I want to hook one up to a power supply so it works without batteries. Any ideas on voltages and where to solder it in? Mine takes 4 C batteries and a 9 volt battery so I'm not sure if I can just do 15 volts or if it has to be two seperate power supplies.

I'd try a doll restorative or watch repair area...they might have small springs. Or older toys that have moving parts that might be broken. 😁

What needs to be repaired if the cassette works but you can't hear him talk every now and then
Not sure,.. we can fix broken rubber bands ha! As for the cassette that more mechanical. Take him to a repair shop.

Hello by any chance you can help me fix my chucky holloween prop from spirit. The levers that move the head broke is there anything that can be used as a replacement part?
Hard to say... If your not familiar with mechanical parts, look it up on TH-cam see if a video possibly or a local doll repair shop!
I been searching thats how i found u. I took it apart thinking i could maybe use a servo but i cant or do not see gow i can completely open his head

I have bought a few bags of assorted sized rubberbands and none are small or thin enough for the eyes small rubberband. Please help. Lowes and Home Depot O rings were too thick as well. Thank you kindly!
Dunno...we just found some old rubber bands we keep from opening the kids toys. They always come in handy 😏 😉

I feel that my Corky's moth is a little bit slow

I got it used from Ebay in very good conditions
how can I tell if its ok or not ?
I compared it with other corky on youtue with same instructions tape and the one on youtube has a faster mouth
I would just replace all the rubber bands and start from there...

I followed your video step by step. And I changed the rubber of the mouth. I didn't change the one for the eyes because they still move fine.
anyway, after changing the rubber, the mouth is now moving perfectly
