Thank you so much for this. After spending a wonderful hour with you this morning, I would never have known you had a poor night's sleep. You were so empathetic and connected that I experienced healing in your presence. So now, take care of YOU. I send gratitude and prayer for your restoration throughout the rest of this day and night. Thank you for all you do so unselfishly for others; feel the gratitude and love coming back to you from those whose lives you touch. Look in the mirror and feel pride and satisfaction for the gift you give others. Now, go process and restore.

When I turned 60 I got three S's out of my life: Sugar, Starches, and Statins. Then 3 years later I retired which mostly reduced the fourth S: Stress. But I haven't been sleeping as well the past few days and I had a breakfast the other day - also not part of my routine - and for the same reason Dr. Cywes did. I think I need a new rule: get away from the computer after 6:00 pm and read instead.

The main thing that buggers up sleep... coffee. Only drink 2 cups before breakfast. After that...water. 2 cups of tea in afternoon. You will sleep. Older people don't make enough melatonin.

I can tell you guys, that if I knew then (20* years ago) what I know today about not sleeping enough for a few years, I would have cut some of my work and slept more!! Lack of sleep over a long period of time reduces your ability to judge important situations and decisions to the point that you are actually mentally incapable of thinking straight!!! Believe me, when I am thinking about all the problems it created for me then, I knew I was seriously mentally reduced! It's scary!! So please, all you people out there, listen carefully to what is said in this video, it can save you from doing seriously bad things!!

I'm going to try shutting my electronics down after dinner and going out for a walk, then just having that quiet, prayerful reflective time afterward. Thank you for always explaining in such "down to earth" lay terms how our bodies function. I have recently gotten back "on board" watching your videos and moving back toward keto/carnivore. Thanks for all of your teaching.

I am the caregiver to my disabled husband, he wakes me quite often to help him. Can't remember the last really good sleep. Often when he's dozing off and I have a moment to myself....it's when I raid the fridge and eat whatever. Stuffing down feelings/frustration/tiredness. Will be coming up with better alternatives.

YES, this helps! A year after you put this up, it’s helping me today. I decided a month ago to wean myself off my “go to sleep” combination of RX and OTC medications. It’s been going pretty well but the fear of relapse is always there as I get closer and closer to being free of these drugs. Today I will deal with what needs to be dealt with today and spend some time relaxing. My house is not on fire. I am a chronic list maker. I make the list and as I scratch off each item, I replace it with another task. It’s debilitating. Thank you Dr Cywes for another, very important piece to my carb addiction recovery.

Thinking about this time after dinner before bed....instead of “relaxing” in front of tv, I think for hubby & me, sitting around a fire might be the best for us! We’ve always enjoyed a campfire...going to set it up & enjoy it(our home is on a very small block of land, but I’m sure we can find a place somewhere to put an outside fire pit). • @melissasinclair9303

This is so perfectly timed for me. I've been doing low-carb eating for the last 10 years with varying degrees of success, but with each year, with each relapse, I learn something new about myself. Right now I'm in a good place, but I know that falling off the wagon is one trigger away. And right now I'm having to fight my demons with eating carbs because of lack of sleep and discomfort. I can feel it. I can name it. Now I just have to not succumb to it.
For me, this time I got a good case of poison ivy that is making me miserable. I don't want to take steroids for it (as I have the last two years) because I'm Type 2 diabetic, but I have my blood sugars in the non-diabetic range (a1c is 5.6 after being at 11.) I KNOW that my body craves sugar if I take steroids, so I want to avoid that. So, I'm trying to get good sleep. As absolutely, the carb snacking attacks me if I'm sleep deprived, but I feel the desire every moment of the day to eat carbs. It's my #1 cure for everything - until it isn't.
So, I'm going to try to get some good sleep despite the itching. If I need to nap because the antihistamine is making me drowsy, I will take a nap.
But I am allowing a bridge/crutch to help me through. I had a keto ice cream bar. I had twolow carb, high fat snacks today. Right now my goal is to just not give in to the carb craving in any way I can. Without the crutch, I would totally cave which could lead to months of binge eating junk. I'm not going to worry about the scale, but in staying away from carbs while I deal with this mental battle of being sleep-deprived and uncomfortable.

Been fighting this sleep fight for years, resulting in chronic pain and ultimately a panic attack. Big carbohydrate addiction because of pain and poor sleep. The penny finally dropped on the carb addiction. Same reasons for pain syndrome are the same reasons for carb addiction..poor emotional management system. So maybe that can help someone.

@@hair2050 When you sleep in a soft bed, your muscles have to tighten for support. On the floor, your skeleton is forced to support you, so your muscles get a chance to finally relax. It realigns your hips. You have room to move around and stretch. It's like a deep tissue massage that you give yourself all night long. It took me years to be able to comfortably sleep through the night, but now I can't sleep in a bed. Give it a try!

@@padregeo7503 interesting. I gave up on pillows several years ago and sleep on a firm bed, but going to zero cushion, that would be difficult. In my late 60s I have noticed I need less sleep, and there are times when I have a rather short restless night, but I don't fight it I just relax and let my mind go until it decides it's done and then I fall asleep and wake up refreshed even though I only got 4 hours.

After some effort I managed to change to a new job that is less stressful, doesn’t keep me working long hours and especially important, let’s me disconnect completely from work issues every day at 6pm and allows for zero work on weekends. It’s amazing how much my health improved once stress went down, I was able to unwind and do personal stuff in the afternoon and I also didn’t need to work right until the moment I would go to bed.

I have also found that when you have certain food intolerances like high histamine, that food can prevent you from sleeping. I’ve put this to the test over and over again. I wish I would learn!! lol

Thanks. I need time for me. The anxiety and anger I have during the day determines how I’ll sleep. I thought going to sleep would get rid of my problems. But then I can’t sleep. Now I understand.

This is 100% what I needed to hear today. I've felt like I haven't gotten rest in months and am constantly exhausted. After this 3 day weekend with just awful sleep I finally gave in on the melatonin 3mg tab last night and was still waking up hours early. Appreciate you arming me with the knowledge of how this works, now I can actually try and address it.

I get so much inspiration and knowledge from you, especially the critical need for emotional support/release practices. And you have a lucky dog😁.

Since I started back to carnivore in January and we’ve been talking regularly I’ve been doing a lot better with not taking all the shit to bed with me and I’ve been having much better nights sleep. Thank you.

A walk, and then a nice, non hurried hot bath with blue tooth Michael sealey meditation ( or just a good book, or just presence), good smells like candle works WONDERS before bed. 😂❤
