Dirt Cheap Rat Rod! 1968 Charger Buildup and Thrash - Roadkill Ep. 23

- Freiburger and Finnegan think this is the best episode so far! It's the longest, too. This show has it all: a Mad-Max-vibe 1968 Dodge Charger built with motorhome parts, sideways Dukes-style action, lots of low-buck wrenching, hilarious snafus, and cameo appearances by the Macho Grande from episode 8, the '66 Buick Special convertible from a pre-Roadkill episode, the ramp truck from episode 20, and the Fury from episode 22. Enjoy the last Roadkill of 2013!

Over seven years later and it's still the greatest episode of Roadkill.
@Andrew Ramsey and its still free.
This is the first episode I watched. It kept popping into my recommended feed until I finally watched it.
You bet this is like watching a movie with a great ending.👍
@@nubreed13 yeah this popped up for me about 7-8 years ago when I was a kid like 8 years old it was the first roadkill episode I ever watched and still my favorite to this day.

There should totally be a RoadKill car pack in Forza Horizon 4
Yes please, I would also love to see a Delorean In fh4
YASSS! There should be a roadkill pack in every car game

I rebuilt the charger in Forza, just search up roadkill you may find it.
There’s something so right about an old charger drifting across a dirt road
359 TwinSticks Is it the Dukes of Hazzard vibes? The trademark engine roar? Or is it that these guys could easily emulate Bo and Luke Duke if they tried hard enough? *shrugs* idk
Colton Rushton engine roar
359 TwinSticks I agree entirely! The only thing that could make this better is a Dixie horn and Roscoe blaring his sirens!
Feckin poetry is what it is Lad feckin poetry
And watch it vanish, to a point.
Can’t believe this episode is nearly 10 years old…. one of my favorite Roadkill!
Imagine trading a set of heads for a 68-70 Charger.
You couldn't BUY that hulk for less than $20-30K nowadays. 😳
Better times
Definitely betters times
They deleted so many roadkill episodes off of youtube which makes me so disappointed but atleast they didnt delete this one because its my favorite
Right, I was looking for the crop duster episode the other day and was disappointed to see it was removed.
@AstronomyToday link?
Yep you can still watch them on MotorTrend channel on tv or on their website.
@@blakewaddell451 Yeah, but you have to get past the paywall.
It's sad to see how Motor Trend turned from a respected channel that provided free entertainment to a company THAT ONLY CARES ABOUT THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS.
Apophis well they pulled off of TH-cam because TH-cam banned gun related videos at one point so MotorTrend said no more Roadkill on TH-cam for that.
Roadkill is by far the best program on the Motor Trend Channel!

On TH-cam period.

creepyzebra It's my replacement for (real) top gear until I can get it on amazon.
I keep coming back to this episode. It's the combination of the second-gen charger, saving a cool car from the scrapheap, cobbling together a bunch of parts, being resourceful enough to know a haunted motorhome has the top-tier mopar engine you want, and the realism of passion projects taking way longer than you think they would. This is what makes "cars" as a hobby really rock.
Great job, Roadkill. I'm only 9 years late in realizing this was your best episode ever.
normal people: put groceries in the trunk
Roadkill: put a big block v8 in the trunk

+Yet Another Car Show Same, for me though i think its cause of the ACTUAL wrenching they do here.
SAME HERE MAN! I want this car for 1. roadkill and 2. because its a '69 dodge charger which ive been wanting for FOREVER. Seriously tho, I would kill for this car.
The car is 1968 tho!
So i was give or take one year off. Besides I looked up pictures of 1969 dodge chargers and I got cars that looked very similar to this model

This show is very under rated !!!
its waaaay better than all the car tv shows that i have seen
+Anas mag Agreed. If these two teamed up with Jay Leno, the American version of top gear could have been on par with the British IMO.
+superiormusic top gear got nothing on roadkill
+mathew davis in my opinion even being car shows you can't compare top gear and roadkill because they are THAT different.
Roadkill: Muscle cars, cheap builds travel cross country, information about specifications and viable hacking to make something work and talk to people that are part of place they are visiting
Top gear: Sports and hypercars, travel in scenic routes in countries around the world, focus on pleasure to drive and humour between the hosts.
I love these 2 shows but by different reasons
Even top gear uk?
TOP GEAR UK IS THE ALL TIME BEST
To me, this is still the undisputed best episode of Roadkill ever.

This episode cost me a lot. Well a lot of patience not a lot of money. I picked up a 77 Camaro right after watching this for $1500 and got it running in two days. Hell yeah!!!
how much did it cost all up ? and hell you man im think of doing the same
A running 77 Camaro would cost you 8000 euromonies here, with a maybe running engine. (The Netherlands, every American classic is hella expensive)

ah nah it ok ... im only 16 and i live in the UK so theres basically no chance anyway.. haha
Sasho Dotchev. It can be done in UK, rover V8 engines are like 300 quid, then you buy a 70s british car for about 600 quid and make the rover v8 fit
nah fuck that ... i want a proper american muscle ... sorry but in my opinion british and eouropean cars are shit lol...
Sasho Dotchev. You aren't looking at the right cars then lol ford escort mk2, ford capri, morris minor all brit cars
2019. I think this one of the better episodes because it recreates all the struggles of a project car. From finding parts, storing them, annoying neighbors, making a mess, shuffling cars, how long meaningful projects actually take, and the issues you have with a new build. The recent roadkill, are pushed out to fast, with throwaway cars. This didn't feel like a throwaway car.
Hit the nail on the head. Haven't seen classic's like the Rotsun and Draguar in a long time. I dont care much for 80% of the cars on the show.
When I was younger me and my dad would watch every new episode together I wish they never went too the motor trend app cause I miss roadkill so much
Isn't it crazy how 60s cars only had 5-6 fuses, compared to even cars in the 90s with 20+ fuses. Truly simple machines. Beautiful.
This Episode is so legend because the General Mayhem was officially born.
Better than Top Gear!
Hey, y'all remember when they said roadkill would always be free to watch? Ahh, those were the days...
I remember when Frieburger said even if it's going up on motortrend, it'll always be available the next month on TH-cam. I also remember someone in the comments of a more recent IG post saying the same thing and Freiburger said "I never said that"
The days indeed
I had a similar idea rolling around in my mind for years. Happily, I found this show and now it, and the General Mayhem return to 440 power and upgrades episodes are serving as a helpful how-to of sorts for me as I do a build on my '68 Coronet. Lots of helpful hints there. Recently acquired a 440 and transmission, some other goodies. Let the fun begin! Thanks guys.

No could you repeat that

Sounds like that episode of "BoatKill."
Pick up the boat, with the Muscle Truck,
drive to the lake, pull the engine out of
truck, put in boat, run boat, pull engine
out, put back in truck, and drive home.

Yep, so true! I love this car! I agree!
This episode was on point. The car, no money, the motor home, fury death, the attitudes, the friends house, the idea that anybody could do this and hack together their own charger! This was the roadkill peak
Best project build I’ve ever saw. Thank you.
Two legends were born this day... the General Mayhem and Roadkill.
I don't care if anyone thinks this is a horrible thing to do to a charger, this thing looks like a beast.
"Usually we get cars FROM the junkyard, or have cars that SHOULD be there..."
"Its opposite day!"
The episode that truly got me into cars when I was a kid. Thanks Roadkill❤

"mopar people are strange" understatement of the century
I resemble that remark.
Try meeting Ford owners. Coming from an owner, they are some weirdos!
This show is great, if I suddenly get some anti American feelings from reading some stupid comment somewhere on the internet I can always go watch a an episode of roadkill to get my faith in US people Instantly restored. No one could play around with these cool old muscle cars with such enthusiasm as Freiburger and Finnegan. and no other car culture could supply them with the mad old machinery that goes to make their awesome rods. it makes shows like top gear eat dust. The best kudos goes out to the hosts and their team for making this awesome show.
