Favorite Fish Large mouth bass or rainbow trout grilled with a lemon sauce and light salt and pepper, lol no seriously I like Columbian Tetra and the Black neon tetra.
Gotta love the rather common, and really basic, cardinal tetra, excellent colour, they stick together quite well, but if they are comfy enough, you'll find one or 2 separate doing their own thing
Ive been watching green aqua for roughly 3 years now and Ive finally set up my first scape. Ive kept fish before but always had a community tank that focused primarily on the fish. Ive learnt so much since watching the videos and now my scape is done Ive gone with just the one species. Tiger Barbs and Jade Barbs. Amazing fish that really complement the slate rock and hair grass in the tank. Cant wait to see how it develops in the future. Now onto my next tank. thanks green aqua!
Amazing to get an update on the tanks and detailed understanding of the fish! - I love cherry barbs...simple but with huge personalities and great deep reds (males)
I love the fish selection you have, I might add Endler for nano tanks, I recently got some "El Tigre" and for bigger tanks maybe Odessa barbs, they are a joy to watch and super colorful.
I absolutely love your fish tank tours! Such a nice video; I will probably come back and watch again. “Pulling fish” - in English the term is “dither fish.” Cheers, guys! Thank you for your high-quality content.
Love the tanks. Loved seeing the fish. You should have gone into why that particular fish was chosen for that aquarium. Would love if you got into compatability of fishes too. I have a tank and everyone is healthy but the 1 kind of fish dominates the uppermost area of the tank and really eats. So i am working on getting them their own tank. Luckily they don't nip fins so i am trying to do things slow and correct
Please make a video about how to choose and take care of plants to create depth in diorama and forest style tanks. For exemple which plants or moss looks alike but at differents scales? how to be coherent with colors of foreground, midground and background plants? Etc... I love your vids! Thanks
Very nice topic today! Looking forward to seeing more videos about fishs in the future. Me myself really love fishs like panda garra, panda loach, blue neon goby and a type of rare otocinclus which is peppermint otocinclus. I do like tiger badis and killifish also, just wondering why you don't have killifish in the show tanks?
Hi Greenaqua. Talking about fish I have a question - how to treat / care of my fish after I decide to rebuild my aquarium? You, as a seller of fish stock, have place where to store them, befor putting them back after an aquarium has been cycled. But I as a regular hobbiest dont have another free aquarium. Second question is, after rebuild, I have my filter cycled from previous setup, how long would you recomend to wait until I put livestock in it?
That lambchop rasbora looks real nice. I currently have different colour platy's, white cloud mountain minnows and odessa barbs (i really really like their dynamic). I also really like the german blue rams that Filipe Oliveira has in his own tank. I do always wonder with heavy scapes like for example the rescaped scape of fukada san with all the rocks. Don't you limit the space for the fish a bit too much? I sometimes feel that aquascaping is a bit too much focused on having a lot of hardscape and a lot of plants without taking in consideration the habitat of the fish, the balans you mention in the video is not always present. Anyways, a great video again!
With nice large tanks and light stocking, it doesn't seem too bad. But for those of us who have smaller tanks, it would be hard to justify reducing water volume as much as they do sometimes with the deep, sloped substrates.
I really like the danios as well! I have some zebra danios schooling w my pearl danios and they look so great together. I loved the way the pearl danios school and swim very fast together like you said from one direction to another. They're great top feeders, and then my panda/albino/green corys can clean up the bottom.
In the 360 Shallow tank you have the gorgeous Long Finned Zebra Danios. Which brings up a question. Years ago I had a gorgeous river tank. It had 4 or 5 levels. Each level was a pool with the large body of water at the bottom. The water circulated from the bottom up to the top and then came back down through the pools via a series of waterfalls. Man, I loved that tank so much! It was breath taking! It was recommended to me to use Zebra Danios because they liked to jump and would love swimming/jumping up the waterfalls into the different pools. They did and it was fascinating. It made me fall in love with Zebra Danios (yes, I did purchase the Long Finned). Unfortunately sometimes I would find a fish on the floor. Because they liked to jump, it was hard to keep them in this particular tank as the display and plants were higher than the top, so there was no lid. It wasn't frequent enough to deter me from using them, as their beauty while swimming up the waterfalls outweighed the occasional loss. Eventually I started incorporating Danios into my other, more conventional, tanks. All with lids. But what I found was that the Danios were now swimming up the filter stream and into the filter! These were not transplants from my river tank, but fresh Danios who, logically, should have not known about streams and waterfalls. Since then, I've been super careful about the tank set up of the tanks I place Danios. So, finally, my question. How in the world are you able to keep Zebra Danios in a completely uncovered tank, where the water is almost up to the top, without constant casualties?
awesome video! I love that you have a couple of barb species is your gallery, they are probably my favorite family of fish, colorful, active and very easy to care for. I have a school of Pethia aurea combined with Sundadanio axelrodia "blue" in my aquascaping tank.
Many times you have recommend to keep the tempeture in 23C but many of the fish showed requieres a range of tempeture that is higher than 23C. How do you manage temperature between the ideal temperature for a planted aquarium and the ideal for fish?
Great great video! Thanks! In my 60lit tank I have sparkling guramies (3 idividuals). Very beautiful and shy fish. I think , I can introduce some cpd beauties!
Please do like a species series. Like explaining from how a specific species look, how the colour, how to care, or habitat that they inhabits, i think it will suit you guys channel since the cinematic is so.. beautiful and always a feast to my eyes😆
Awesome video! Definitely a saver for future scapes for me! Great selection! I have a few cardinals, black Phantoms, rummy noses, red phantoms. Thanks for the video Balazs! Will always be my go to when it comes to fish selections!
That was mesmerizing video I have ever seen !!! You inspire us to jump into this hobby deeply... Thanks Balazs & Team. Keep up the Good Work !!! :-) I Would like to have Neon Tetra planted Tank...
Where were the bad jokes??? lol. I always enjoy your presentations, Balazs. Your latin pronunciations are great, too, even if you make it sound Italian. The fish and scapes are all top class. Have a good day.
Amazing video, as always. But I would have preferred you to talk in more details also about how to choose the right size tank for different species, the parameters they need, how to match the characters of multiple species, how you feed them... Things that are often overlooked by customers. They just focus on setting up the tank and the hardscape.
Arguably, stocking should be part of your calculations from the beginning, otherwise you may end up compromising fish needs for the sake of an aquascape that can't easily be changed.
I have ember tetras in my iwagumi tank as shown on my channel, really amazing fish! Recently swapped my lambchop rasboras to rummy nose tetra in my dutch tank and really love how they shoal together!
while waiting for my new tank cycled and the monte carlo carpeting this video shows up, what a coincidence... anyway thanks for the tip and inspiration, but i'd like more varieties in my tank, so 1 or 2 type of fish isn't enough for me.. those boraras maculatas looks good! might consider to put them in the new tank
amazing informative video again with balazs legend . so amazing feeling to see every scape at green aqua. so beautiful fishes with proper setups. i have harliquin rasbora , perfect small schooling fishes. chili rasbora and rummy nose are my top favorite ones.. i love to see rainbow fishes and pea puffer in next scape. tommy sir 100 plants scape is my dream scape. best job legend. lucky to follow my ideals
Man Balasz, just today I was talking to my wife about what other type of fish I should introduce to my 60P tank. Currently have Molly fish. Great video, came in handy👍🏻
Thank you for the video, great details and stories about the fish. Can you please recommend a species that has different looks for each individual? For a 55L Scaper's Tank. I was thinking at guppies (but they might jump from an open top), killi (definite jumpers) or even glofish tetra. Can you please help me with an advice?
Dear Balazs, another amazing video. I've been waiting for a video like this for a long time. Green Aqua is starting to mean more to me than just a channel to watch. I've been in this hobby for years, but thanks to you, I can get very clear information. It means a lot to me that you give immediate answers to the issues that I'm asking. As another recommendation, I think it may be very useful to make a video about the sequence of filter media. For example at the Eheim Experience 250, which I used in my 60P aquarium at home, I applied the following row from bottom to top, eheim mach at the bottom, rough filter sponge on top, seachem matrix to the space above it, seachem matrix on top, fine fiber on top, seachem purigen at the top. But I think there's a lot of confusion about ranking on this issue. I think it would be very enlightening if a video came from you about it.
I have harlequin rasboras! They look so natural among roots and plants, and I love their energy 🧡🖤 Some corydoras pygmaeus are coming soon, because they look so tiny and cute
Hello! I know that to you, probably a video like this about your betta seems futile. However, I must admit that I have a weakness for betta and thanks to you, I went from 0 to 5 aquariums for Betta in less than 2 months. 😅 So, it would give me great pleasure to see your aquarium and your selection, even if I live in Quebec (Canada). Your TH-cam channel and your store are a feast for the eyes. We can sometimes see your bettas from afar, but I would also like to see how you "tidy up" them. Thank you and sincere greetings! And thank you also for this new passion that you inspired in me. ✨ Merci & bonjour du Québec, and sorry for my french accent! 🤣💁🏼♀️
You need to do a planted tank with some kind of Rainbowfish--Melanotania lacustris, Melanotania herbertaxelrodi, Melanotanea trifasciata (Goyder River), Melanotania praecox, or Melanotania Boesemani. These are medium to large size fish (except for M. praecox) best suited to larger planted aquascapes, and make a stunning display of color when kept in larger groups. It can be hard to find quality examples of some species though, as they have been bred multiple generations from wild-caught species. They sometimes take a few weeks to reach full color potential, but are active, very beautiful, and easy to keep fish.

A planted Discus tank! You guys have literally done everything else in the freshwater aquascaping arena!
Seeing all the fish and hearing about their traits was great! And we got a nice full tour of all the tanks in the gallery too!

I really enjoyed this episode
Glad my suggestion for the video worked out ;) . Haha. Another great video guys !
I was present in your ADA India workshop. Never though this much growth and details will appear. Kudos to you and your team

I still forgot the idea, for example about aquariums without technology. clean self habitat
Amazing tanks and fish. 👍👌Priceless info for the Fish keepers.
Great idea! Totally unexpected!
I really loved the video! I wonder if small but not tiny fishes would be possible in aquascaped planted tanks.
Red Phantoms are really beautiful and calm fish suitable for smaller tanks. I have them in my 60P tank and I really enjoy watching them.
Barbus titteya could be a good choice, hardy and solid reds for the males, really underrated fish. :)
Many tnx for the video.
Nice to have a good look through the gallery Balazs, thank you 🌿
I love this video so much. And I hope you guys will make the next videos about bottom aquatic fishes, pleco fishes. Thank you very much!
I think a good led light also makes a big difference in bringing out the fishes' & plants' colours maybe?
