From the same Hebrew word for one, we also have Genesis 2:24 that talks about a man and his wife becoming one in marriage. So the word for one does not speak of one as singular, but one as a Unity.
Actually the same word "ahad" is used in the Qur'an. Even the word tawhid is talking about a unity not a singular thing. It comes from the word wahada that means to make separate things into one new unity.
Companies in a merger are a tawhid. The UAE is a tawhid. They were separate and have become one.
But the Trinity is greater than that. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit have ETERNALLY been one, but now they have revealed the distinction between the persons but remain the SAME God.
It is interesting that the people of Mecca recognised that the islamists were making all the separate idols of the ka'aba into one unified idol under the name of Muhammad's father Abdullah.
