sick! did you have to upgrade the hubs? the 3 prong axle cups... worried i am gonna twist the hell out of those. chose to go the cheap route and got some hobby king esc and motor. censored though. i guess we'll see how it performs. if anything i got the vxl system in the traxxas i can pillage.
Nice to have a old childhood toy when we grow up coz it can remind a lot of good memory :) n this video just remind me a car that my grandmother gave me when I was in 5th grade n she also died in car crash :( so I'm thinking about do the same thing ur doing Hey Thx for this video :)
Bro you got some talent! The video production is awesome and I haven't gotten to the rx7 yet. My best friend had one of those kinda ragged out but the drivetrain was rock solid! We loved that car and it was the first time I had ever seen a "drive it like you stole it" sticker put to good use! His was silver. Rock on brother! SUBSCRIBED!
total drift missle look, if you paint the levin body go burgundy on top with black bottom lip. as for the rx7 not so sure, perhaps a nice semi bright yellow would look good. love the build keep it up.
First off.. great video production! Second.. great find! My name is Josh and I am the creator of The Extreme Scale Performance Show. I also own a 1984 series 3 RX7. I mentioned on an episode earlier this year that I was going to build a scale replica of my car for the show and I'm stoked to see I'm not the only one doing it! Do you know who manufactured that toy originally? As an RX7 owner I would say to paint it factory light blue with gold mesh wheels and brown interior. No stickers. 1 emblem.
OMG! your RX7 body is on 1/18 scale (something like that) because it is a bite lomger than the KenBlock car, wich is 1/16 scale ;) and you are really lucky it fits good on a 1/10(1/12) ! and really lucky because a car like this RX7 cost 100$ on ebay! now i want to do it! and the welded roll cage was also something i would like do... so good man! thank you! cant wait for the next video!
The only problems I've had with when i decided to put a ballistic 13.5 on 3s... man crazy fast!!!! It striped out the spur gear and destroyed the retaining nut that holds the spur on. other then that every thing else on is stock.on mine. Im really liking the vxl system djmedic has some vid of it running. I know some guys are taking out the front diff for a little 2 wheel drive action!
hpi cup car.. i believe hpi has discontinued the line. doh! might find one at tower, or on ebay. you may be better off, getting 1/10, as they have more options for one way diffs, and other drift specific hop up parts!
G'day first of great pick I'm a rotor head and love it Go the real drift look miss matching colour plans and the damage would look really sick keep up the nice work
sorry man. this body was bought in warsaw at the gypsy market in 1987. who knows what brand, and if the toy even still exists let alone is sold anywhere. no writing on it at all.
LOL Quote: " Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 Part 2 " This project is seriously going to look amazing when its complete, nice find mate. i want one
i love the concept of the overall vid, definitely want to see a part 2, its funny i recently threw away all my old school stuff, wish i hadnt now lol...btw i sub'd up
ok. so... i did the math. and this chassis, and this rx7 body is 1/11 scale. not sure why you think the body is 1/18th. it's DEFINATLY not the one you found on ebay. if you look at my first video, you can spot hundreds of differences! for one, the one you sent me in the pm, doesnt have a mechanical drive system that takes 4D cell batteries.
hpi e10 runs about 150-200 new on ebay and it's great for a first timer. just upgrade the battery connector to a traxxas connector, get a couple traxxas batteries and let it roar. don't go lipo without an ESC upgrade to make sure you have a lipo cutoff cycle that will stop the car from draining the battery 100%. if you're into something a little more serious than that there's a RTR NFS edition Vaugn Gittin Jr 67' mustang that's sick looking. hpi dot com, check them out.
I woulda made most of the chassis from custom parts and crossed sourced. I also would used rwd and put proper rubber tires on(though in a harder compound then race tires) to get more realistic drifts outa it.
sorry man. this body was bought in warsaw at the gypsy market in 1987. who knows what brand, and if the toy even still exists let alone is sold anywhere. no writing on it at all, except "02594" and "made in china".
Man I want to do something like this what is the maker for the original car? I had that year RX7 and would love to build a scale replica of it to drift!
Hey thanks for subscribing man! I went ahead and returned the favor ;) I remember your channel from the fb rx7 videos. I think I talked to you in the comments about you funding the body in a crazy market or something... Anyway just wanted to say thanks and see if you still have that thing?
I watched this video about 2 years ago . watched every single video until the lz build was done and now I realized I bought my first car a couple months back and its an fb rx7 and I think I know where I got the interest in them from
Random question for anyone who may know but if you have an rc car you bought in a store like a realy crap ceap thing but you love it and want to put a new motor in it could you just hook it up like the old one or woild you need to replace everything ???
it's just a bit of U aluminum pipe. with the original go pro mount hardware. it was too heavy though and burned out the stock traxxas steering servo.
sick! did you have to upgrade the hubs? the 3 prong axle cups... worried i am gonna twist the hell out of those. chose to go the cheap route and got some hobby king esc and motor. censored though. i guess we'll see how it performs. if anything i got the vxl system in the traxxas i can pillage.
I actually owned a 1979 rx 7. It was a mazda red. What your doing is awesome! Cant wait to see the rest! Keep building.
i've discovered it's much more fun to watch these from last to first.
Badass project man. Cool to see you expanding your rc horizon. I personally like the old beater style. Have fun. Keep it cool!
ok! ha! 3 cell is a no no. i saw it. that datsun? in medics latest drift video? sick ride man... love the look of it.
do a search. there are 2wd drifters, and it looks WAY more scale. because the front wheels are always in opposite lock.
looks to me like you have everything well in hand looking good my friend nice work also think black is the right color happy motoring my friend !!
just finishing editing it now. probably upload it by the end of the weekend.

***** The significance of this build is that old school RX-7 body.
I love how you took something you loved in your early years and restored it to former beauty. I did it with my rc too! Only not as epic tho.
yep. got the rx7 as a present when my family was emigrating to canada.
Good work. I love the story behind the build.
total drift missle look, if you paint the levin body go burgundy on top with black bottom lip. as for the rx7 not so sure, perhaps a nice semi bright yellow would look good. love the build keep it up.
Very nice project for sure. Flat black would be pretty cool.
that should be a great built. i think a work in progress body would be cool. kinda like a sleeper style. bondo patches, and primer patches haha.
thanks man! appreciate the sentiment! much respect!
thanks man! yeah a ratty beat up body would be slick.

not sure man. kinda flying into this with no experience. my hpi cup car kit, isn't ideal. but it fits my rx7 body.
i came from adam lz and noticed i watched this back in the day :D
thanks bro! huge complement from the hugest!
Hi I love your project just asking where did u find your cup racer.
hey bro, how did you make your go pro rc mount?? looks great!
i like that! ha! definatly a strong contender!
How did you mount the GoPro on the Ken Block underneath? nice Video
hpi cup car.. i believe hpi has discontinued the line. doh! might find one at tower, or on ebay. you may be better off, getting 1/10, as they have more options for one way diffs, and other drift specific hop up parts!
