Woops! This wasn’t supposed to come out yet! lol. Looks like my schedule just got rearranged. :). There will be a follow up video soon.
glad that came out ty !
You are lucky Mörk Borg is not a WotC product or goons would have knocked down your door 😅
creator of the game here thank you so much for covering this game
My pleasure!
This channel is eternally inspiring!
Love Mork Borg's asthetics. I ran the intro adventure and my group had fun. Now a miniature game I can play, with what I have with the same asthetics? Yes please!!! Thanks for covering this.
Sure thing! It's really fun, and so easy.
I bought the main rulebook PDF and good a bit overwhelmed with the style of the book and trying to get into the game. This video has re-invigorated my desire to play. Thanks.
I like how you simplify and modify your games and gaming, I think it’s a good attitude. Because it makes it easier to get started and it’s more creative. I will not be getting into FP myself. I own Mörk Borg, but it’s too dark for my taste. And I already own too many skirmish games. But I look forward to seeing you play it. Have a great weekend!
This is great. I would love to see a “Kill Sample Process” video. 🤞🏼
Maybe down the road.
Very happy to see this covered! I totally agree with your comments about getting into skirmish games. I also tell people, if you really want minis, you can start with the minis you have in your favorite dungeon crawler...or even lego minifigs! I've used stuff from Altar Quest and Cthulhu: Death May Die to play many indie skirmish games. And someone could always throw in a pathfinder bestiary box if they want a standee that matches whatever foe has been encountered.
Love what you showed us combining Standees and Battle tiles. This is a great way to go because you can 1) Inexpensively do your own boards and characters 2) Because you can do it and they are relatively inexpensive you can be sooooo flexible about armies and artwork and terrain, without making a huge investment everytime you want to flip from a Desert local to a Frozen Ice Fortress.
oh dang, this looks cool! missed the boat on this. thanks for highlighting, and hope to see some session reports!
Nice! Absolutely love Forbidden Psalm, it's a blast. There are two newer books: Last War and Kill Sample Process which add weird war and cyberpunk into the mix. The cards you have originally came with the Last War Kickstarter. Really looking forward to seeing the Dungeon Dive remix of FP.
Yeah! I probably won't be getting into those, because I don't have anything to represent any WW or Cyberpunk things. But they look cool! I do have some SF stuff, so KSP is a possibility.
Another great video, my friend.
Great video! I had passed it by, as I misunderstood a 'skirmish' game to be two groups of characters fighting, like Warhammer 40K or something. It looks much more 'boardgamey', and the fact that it is compatible with Mork Borg and vice versa is awesome. Would love to see more content and battle reports etc as you mentioned. Thanks for heads up on this :)
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I've known about Mörk Borg for quite some time, but I can't say it's something that interested me all that much. This on the other hand looks like something I could get into and as you've demonstrated, doesn't really require anything special to play. I'm into quite a few other skirmish-style games, so there's no shortage of materials to pull from when cobbling together a game play area. Definitely want to see more!
That’s the nice thing about these little skirmish games. You have stuff for one, you have stuff for all. What games are you playing?
@@TheDungeonDive 5 Parsecs from Home / 5 Leagues from the Borderland, Rangers of Shadow Deep, Space Station Zero, Nuts! Last Days, Zona Alpha, Scrappers and Dracula's America. They're all definitely a little meatier, so having an option that is lighter is always good. About the only one I have that seems like it could be as lite as Forbidden Psalm is Nightwatch. I like the idea of the heavier skirmish games, but sometimes it's nice to be able to just quickly put together the minis and scenery and jump right in. If you haven't seen the flat 2D Dungeon Craft stuff from 1985 games, I'd recommend them as well.
Nightwatch seems pretty cool. I've had it for a bit, but haven't played it yet.
@@TheDungeonDive to me it's on the opposite end of the spectrum from 5 Leagues. Rangers of Shadow Deep is the middle ground between them in terms of complexity, imho.
Excellent video. Nice Durran Durran reference with your warband name. :) I've been using Forbidden Psalm, Solitary Defilement and Mörk Borg together in a solo and group campaign. It all works great together with little or no conversion needed. Simple and effective. Love it.
Duran Duran's first album is on my top 100 of all time.
@@TheDungeonDive Their debut is a solid album. Personally, I think Rio is their masterpiece.
@@TheDungeonDivea Duranimal of culture and taste - well played, sir
@@edwardromero3580 Rio is fantastic!
@@TheDungeonDivelook out for
“New Mork on Mooday” expansion
You really get me into trying FB, I've just ordered core rule book:) Great video and great channel, very inspiring, thank you!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it. It’s such a fun game. Super easy to get into.
Very nice coverage of FP. Yep, you do not need minis or terrain. I have used cave evil warcults maps/chits in Rangers of Shadow Deep and it works really well.
I just started getting into skirmish games last month, myself. I quickly realized how easy it is to fall into buying lots of minis and terrain, and decided to use paper minis, tokens and/or a VTT instead. It works just as well! While it would be cool to get into minis and terrain, I simply don't have the energy, time, space, nor money for it. :) And just like you, I already have my battlemats, meeples, and a bunch of other pieces I've gathered for my TTRPGs and board games that can fulfill all my skirmish battle needs. Now, the ruleset I've been working with is Song of Blades and Heroes, by Andrea Sfiligoi, the creator of Four Against Darkness. Very simple rules, miniature agnostic, and there's enough online content about it out there.
Totally! No need to buy a bunch of stuff when we already have stuff to use. I love this approach. I will be checking out Song of Blades and Heroes at some point. Does it include character progression / campaign style play as well?
This is awesome. Wanted to get FP for some time now because i love Mork Borg, but dont want to spend a lot on terrains and stuff. The idea of using 2D board books is awesome
Saves space and time!
Se'vena and the ragged tiger....sweet a Duran Duran reference. We use owlbear rodeo a lot to play TTRPGs together online, I think it would work fine with skirmish games, for those who don't mind digital. But yeah flat 2d standies are a great solution for those on a budget.
FINALLY someone mentioned Duran Duran! I was starting to be thoroughly disappointed with everyone. LOL!
@@TheDungeonDive I have such an odd taste in music Duran Duran, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Metallica(old), Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, Bat for Lashes, and 21pilots are my favorites. I remember Seven and the ragged tiger very well. I think either it or Ratts' out of the cellar was the first album I ever bought with my own money... well chore money lol.
Seven and the Ragged Tiger and Weird Al in 3D were the first two tapes I bought with my own money. :) I LOVE Duran Duran. Their first album is, IMO, a top 20 album of all time! I have wild taste in music as well. I'll seamlessly switch from blast-beat death metal to reggae, to jazz, to ska, to new wave, to country, to new age and back. :) IMO there are only 2 kinds of music. Good and bad.
Daniel, I share your desire for simplicity and elegance in order to enhance the “fun” of a game.
I thought I was the only one using Loke for skirmish games. Their cling stickers are amazing for scatter terrain/cover on their maps.
Apart from the Loke books, the best investment I made this year on the hobby is a laser printer.
Less time building/painting... more time playing.
There are a bunch of people on the DD FB group that use the Loke books for skirmish games! :)
I've been on the fence about getting this, as I like Mork Borg but am unsure if it can work as a skirmish game, but seeing the depth of material available I am going to have to go for it!
Great video. I am reading Five Leagues from the Borderlands and now I think I will switch to Forbidden Psalm. Way simpler!
Thanks!
This is much easier to get into! Although the campaign stuff in 5L is so cool.
@@TheDungeonDive Indeed it is. Maybe I should mix them. 🤔
This is one I want to add to my collection. Don't know if I have time to play (as always) but I like to look into it.
It’s so easy to get into so the time investment isn’t great.
I would love to see the names of all the expansions you mention in the description for this kind of video.
I’ll try to remember. Sometimes
I just barely have the time to learn, play and make the video. People want a lot of things! :). Only have so much time.
Dang it!!! Now I’m going to buy Forbidden Psalm! I need a simplified version of Mordheim. What is the name of the Battlemats you’re using? Loke? Looking forward to watching you play a scenario or two.
Loke Battle Mats are excellent! I have the Dungeon Books and recommend them for small skirmish games.
They're so useful.
Been wanting to get into Mork Borg series but it is impossible to find hard cover versions. I'm not into .pdf's. It amazes me how I never see reprints. Maybe I'm missing something but if your product is in high demand why not print more. I have a good friend who is a publisher and he told me it would take one call and give them number of prints. Frederick Pangbourne he has some really good dark themed books.
Shoestring budgets. Sure it would only take one call, but it also take a lot of money up front. Most of the MB books only come in paper back. I see the hardback for the core rules all over the place. As a matter of fact, I've never seen that in anything by hardback! I've been enjoying making my own chapbooks / zines out of the PDFs.
@@TheDungeonDive Since I'm not finding the hard copies, I think take your advice and create some zines out of the pdf. Easy to do at the print shop. Thanks for your video's, it's a great way for people to get interested into different games especially for the solo players.
Seems like a good candidate for solo play but wasn’t explicitly discussed. Is it good for solo?
That’s the only way I play games. Thats what the whole video was about, my solo play. :) sorry if that wasn’t made more clear.
Nice! Didnt expected to see the creatures from Fearsome Wilderness in one of those book! That"s so cool ! I think I'm gonna use the lore book in Fearsome Wilderness to combine it with Forbidden Wilderness! Would you say that with only the base book of Forbidden Psalm you got enough to play a lot or do you suggest getting at least 1 expansion ?
The base book has a ton to offer.
I'm about to get more into skirmish games, but using just tokens, miniatures are just too expensive for me.
Just ran across your channel - thanks for the great review. Just curious, did you ever do a video on Mutant Chronicles??
I did not. Ended up not liking the game.
This game + 3D printers = UNLIMITED POWEEEER
What is the book of dungeon maps you have there?
Loke Battlemats.
Maybe someone will be so kind and tell me which battle mats these are and where I can buy them? Thanks a lot🙂
Mentioned in the video. Loke Battlemats. Available from a number of online retailers.

@@TheDungeonDive Thanks😊
You should post the link to buy the game in the description next time! 😊
I don't post a lot of links to retail because I'm not part of a marketing team nor do I have affiliates with one source or another. The way I find my stuff is by typing the name of the thing in Google, eBay, or Amazon. There are so many places to buy these. I've purchased stuff for this game from: Exalted Funeral, Ebay, and Drivethru RPG. If it's hard to find, I'll post a link! But literally just typing Forbidden Psalm in google shows a handful of places to purchase!
Hi where do the 3rd party pdfs come from pls?
Exalted Funeral and Drivethru RPG
Where did you get your dice - specifically the pink and yellow d20? I first saw them in your Dungeon Degenerates videos and think they're very, very neat!
They're not Chessex, right? They don't seem to have those specific colors.
They came with a super old zombie card game that I don’t remember. It was many years ago.
@@TheDungeonDive Ah, too bad! I've been trawling the web to no avail.
I know! I love those dice so much. I wish I could remember the game, because I'd love to pick it up again. I think it would be cool to show. It was some kind of like high school / mall, zombie card game in a small tuckbox. One set came with 6 yellow dice, the other with 6 pink dice.
Where do I get this?
Googling "forbidden psalm" provides a number of different places you can get it. Choose the one that works best for you.
Do you know a game that uses a similar system but with a different theme? I am not a fan of the super dark visuals hahaha
You could look into games like Warlord Ascendant, Five Leagues from the Borderlands, Rangers of Shadow Deep, and Five Parsecs from Home.
@@TheDungeonDive Thank you very much!
I haven’t tried mork borg yet, but I see pocket odessey I press like. It is a very simple sandbox rpg game for lazy people.
Still need to cover that!
If you straighten that pile of books one more time, I'll lose my mind...
Man, if you lose your mind from a TH-cam video, please get off the internet for a while. Mental health is very important! No need to subject yourself to torture. Stay well! Unplug for a bit and get some rest!
I love this kinda games ... just a book and you can call old minis and stuff ... my favorite game is gaslands that i used my old hot wheels ... so ty another time !!! keep doing this please , im buying that one to try out ...
Gaslands is so fun! Such a fast and exciting system. Totally replaced Carwars IMO.
Very interested in Forbidden Psalm! Are enemies controlled by some form of AI or are they going to be player controlled (playing to the enemy's best ability I suppose?)
Enemies - roll 2D6 move towards closest PC, attack. That one sentence I mentioned in the video is it. :)
@@TheDungeonDive That is great :) I have a limited brain memory these days for rules
so that suits me just fine
