- Gibbeted: The Final Fate of Notorious Criminals
News of the Times Episode 268 | 1776 - 1832
Today’s episode of gibbeted ones looks at three cases where those found guilty of their crime are condemned to what was considered the worst death: gibbeting and hung for all to see as their bodies where slowly eaten by birds.
Our first case from 1776 recounts the story of a butcher who wishes to see for himself if human flesh really does taste like pork…
Our second case from 1815 recounts the tale of Anthony, a young lad who has gotten a local girl pregnant. Anthony looks for any way he can to avoid the financial responsibilities he will be saddled with for years to come.
Our third case is the famous Cook case from 1832 where, pressed to pay an outstanding debt, Cook snaps. What unfolds is an attempt to completely annihilate the debt collector requesting payment. It was the last case of gibbeting in England before its abolishment.
Three cases where gibbeting was handed down - the ultimate punishment - in today’s episode of Wicked Wednesdays.

The last Sunday of each month is a 2 hour compilation of stories based around a theme.

All three stories were gruesome, but Thorley was the worst and saddest to me. His fate was fitting. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy your channel.

I'm glad the pregnant girl in the second testified against her ex lover and also rejected his "gift"!! At least, she had more morals than HIM!! I wonder what became of her and her baby?! I hope they thrived!!

Yes-some horrific stories! 😱Sadly, we do not know what happend to ann and her baby, but good on her for reporting him. Being gibbted: imagine going to the store and seeing your relative there, hanging in chains, surrounded by birds and bits of body parts dropping to the ground under neath that have been dropped by birds. 🦅 It would have attracted the rats as well! Gruesome! The Cook-Paas case received a huge backlash in the poress whch helped tpo stop the practice in England. Thank you so much for your support!🙏

All three of these "horrific," cases of murders were beyond the realms of humanity. Thrilled that they all received the ultimate death sentences.
