I am fascinated with South Dakota...we considered moving there a while back. I think it's breathtakingly beautiful! This campground is AMAZING! What a great community style camping experience!
Beautiful! Sylvan Lake is so beautiful and you can walk around it. The flakes are mica. It makes a beautiful sparkly trail/road. I did that hike 5 or 6 years ago. It kicked my mostly non-hiking butt, but gearing up to do it again. The Black Hills are special and the place I love to go to rejuvenate. I am so fortunate to live within 3.5 hrs of this beautiful place. Enjoy!
WOW!! What an awesome place! The campgrounds and the scenery are 5 🌟!! I’d love to go there some day. And y’all are just so adorable together 🥰 Can’t wait to see where you take us next 😎
I know I'm going to be echoing a lot of previous comments probably 🤔 but I have to say thank you guys for your videography of your journeys. I know my medical conditions would keep me at sea level and I wouldn't be able to do anything mountaineering 😞 & your Michigan videos made me home sick 😉 keep up the great work Cody on your videography and Kelly you're cooking is extraordinaire as usual I'm usually wiping off my phone screen because I'm drooling 😁
Beautiful mountain views, thank you for all you do!! Your "Strenuous Hikes" provide the viewers/subscribers scenery that I/We would never ever be able to enjoy!! You guys are awesome!!
What a beautiful adventure! I love that campground and the hosts! Very cool! And seeing/hearing that duo perform made me smile real big, because I'm a performing singer/songwriter/guitar player myself and LOVE gigs like that!! Also, Kelly, you have a beautiful smile and it was really cool to see it so often in this video. Enjoy, you two! xoxo from Michigan
This video was amazing! Loved the virtual hike and the campground! THAT DECK! It was the bomb! I LOVED seeing Kelly smile and laugh! It warmed my heart!
What a beautiful hike. Thank you for sharing it with us. The scenery and flowers are awesome. The music fit perfectly. Wow! The campground is amazing. The amenities are for sure "uptown, high-rent"! I would have a problem leaving a campground like that. Food and live music take it over the top.
Pretty in Pink! I always enjoy your drone footage and your detailed descriptions of the topography. We need to get you guys to 100K subs! Thanks for the quality content.
Cody's passion for geography reminds me of a guy I dated who was a Geographer. It's super interesting to find out how many of the formations we see were actually formed. He was also passionate about finding geodes' and about drove me out of my mind looking for them during hikes. You'd never do this to Kelly, but he was slinging rocks, didn't bring a pick and I almost got hit in the face with rock shards a couple of times. As you can imagine, I wasn't pleased. Stay safe and God bless you.
Loved watching you explore the Black Hills. My husband and I visit there a few years ago and enjoyed it also. Such a beautiful world we live in! Have fun!! 🏔💕🙏☕️
Cody - you are a wizard with those camera shots! The clip where you follow Kellie's feet up the terrain then out to the rocks and trees..... beautiful! I know those shots aren't easy, but they are wonderful! Thanks for taking us along! I always love your nature shots!
Last yr when we were there just before the lake we saw a mt lion. I cried cause thats just me. We go to deadwood every yr. Next month we will be there. Black hills are magic.
Just came back from our 3rd camp of the season. Usually 4 day 3 night. Heavy tent camping_Glamping. Sheridan, RouBaix. and last weekend Deerfield Lake. Love it here.
My goodness..look at you 2..climbing as high as you are. Amazing hike you two. I love the Rocky Mountains. We live here in Colorado. My husband is from Black Hills. Me from Tennessee.
Love that area. Did you know, the movie National Treasure was filmed at that lake. At the end of the movie when they found a secret passageway in the granite that sticks up out of the lake and followed it to the treasure. That hike has been on my bucket list for a while now. Glad we got to go with you. Thanks
You had an awesome day thanks for taking me along 😊 ☺️ 🙂 Beautiful scenery and hiking you guys did amazing 👏 😀 ❤️ 🙌 😊 👍 👏 😀 ❤️ 🙌 And the campground was si nice 😀 😊
Spectacular filming of the scenery. The videography is superb! Uptown high-rent there, Cody. :-). Loved watching the hike. Looks like you found a nice camp park as well.
You talked about doing the needles highway sometime. When you do there is a hiking trail called Cathedral Spires. It is awsome! I also agree with those who commented on Spearfish Canyon. Especially in the fall when the leaves have changed.
Another great hike and yes, Kelly, the camp ground is definitely 'up town, high rent'! ✔++ for that shower house! Looked like a really nice party. Good music! Cody, takin the back seat on this one and lovin that jerky! Made me laugh! Was that a pica on the hike? It went by so fast! I will have to rewatch and check it out! Might have been a chipmunk!? Was the lg building with green roof the lodge? Did I say that camp ground was really nice?!? U guys did look tired at the end of that day. Made for a good night's sleep, I bet! Thanks for the tag-along! Safe travels till next time🌞
That’s so cool, we were where you are just a month ago. I loved that place, and it was in the low 50’s in the morning and got into the upper 80’s. We camped at Grace Coolidge
So cool you guys are camping right where we are. Unfortunately, we have a bigger rig, so are "glamping" with full hook-ups in Custer. The hiking is great around here! Hope you go to Crazy Horse as the museum is totally worth it.
Outstanding Video! Used to be my back yard playground 1996-2008 while I worked in the B Hills SD. Miss that place every day We did that climb you were on every New Years Eve… Put screws in bottom of our shoes and always wore gaiters to keep out those small limestone pebbles out. During my time it was called Harney Peak. Before the name change Well done as always If you get a chance check out Mt Rushmore Brewery Custer SD My friend and his wife started those amazing brews. Enjoy SD
What a great hike! The views are incredible. Really neat to be looking down on the Needles. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. That campground is definitely "up town high rent". I'm glad you are getting cooler weather than I had when I was there mid July.

Hey Guys! Great video. Where can I purchase Kelli's cookbook? Loving the recipes and looking for new ways to feed ourselves on the road. Safe journeys!
Just amazing video of the beautiful location! 2 questions: how do you video those scenic videos from inside your truck and can I get the recipe for your pecan pancakes, they look delicious! Keep up with your awesome videos!

The little flakes you noticed might be mica, a mineral often found in granite
This video was amazing! Loved the virtual hike and the campground! THAT DECK! It was the bomb! I LOVED seeing Kelly smile and laugh! It warmed my heart!

Please let me know how to get your cookbook. Love love your show you take me to places I want to go. Watch you show over and over again.
you need to go the badlands they are so cool we camped their
its very nice in that area my wife and i took a bus tour in that area
It’s called Mica and they use it to make all kinds of stuff 😀
I believe the shinny bits are mica
It is mica. It was all over the place where i grew up. I used to peel it in a weird obsessive way waiting for my school bus to come.
Stunning
That shiny, flat, thin layered, transparent material is probably Muscovite mica.
Where were you camped? Looks like a great spot
We are heading to the Black Hills next week, in a converted cargo trailer, without a shower. Can we get showers at Crooked Creek?
Love the drive in beautiful did not care for the background music dose not suet you guys. This is amazing ps put the berries in your hat 👒
1st. Keep up the great videos.
mica rock
I've heard that in that area there lived a young boy named rocky raccoon.
Every time I enter or drive past a National Forest I read the name in Cody’s voice…
👍👍👍👍👍
👍🏻
Would this be an okay hike for a family? 12 yo - 16 yo kids and a toddler. ??
Not sure about the toddler. It was an intermediate hike but long
It looks like a pretty flake of opal.
✌️❤️🙏
