I wish them nothing but success. I use auction houses as a buyer and seller and have witnessed with mounting horror at the rise of charges. Great video.
Dear David, Jon and Crew, the place looks great! Lots of cool things to sell. The gallery could use a few abstracts by D. Harper! Thanks for the look around. Jon deserves a nice office with a view!! Hello from Colorado
This is the future. 10% slap! Buyers and sellers will flock to Royal Wootton Basset. Good luck to them. I expect an antiques road trip to visit within the year. Nice video David.
This looks like a superb auction house. I'm based in Ireland and the fees here are similar to the UK average, somewhere around 23-28%. 10% commission is certainly dusruptive and no doubt attractive for buyers and sellers. Creating an experience with their auctions is a great move too. Wishing you folks every success. I've booked marked your website and hope to visit in-person next time I'm in the U.K.
What a beautiful auction house. 10% commission is kind and fair. Love the jewel box front. I live near Phoenix Arizona, and we can’t seem to get the higher end auction thing right here. Sad, really. Pup is adorable and best wishes for terrific success to these lovely people. 🙏
This looks like an attractive proposition for both buyer and seller. I have just sold at auction and was able to negotiate a good deal but it’s better if the commission is low to begin with. What puts me off buying is the exorbitant postage charges and the fact that unbelievably many auction houses whilst having high commission rates do not offer this service themselves but would rather farm out to a courier.
@@DavidHarperAntiques Hope they’re on The Saleroom. Will look for them in due course. I live near you in Durham so hopefully the auction houses nearby will compete although I doubt it !
Amazing place, great location and obviously a very nice man running the place, the food corner with its own chef on top of only10% premium should draw people in. Thank you David for taking the time to let us see these fantastic places and talk to these knowledgeable persons, I know it is your passion but just one thing I wish you and the person holding the other camera to focus more on the displayed items while talking, we love to see these lovely antiques instead of the faces of people, thanks again..
Great vision for what can be accomplished. What a fantastic location and premises! Nice to see that they are spending money to bring in the customers. There are too many auction houses resting on their laurels with exorbitant fees and outdated premises. I can only wish them luck and hope that the trend for lower fees runs through all auction houses, it's about time!
That place is NICE. With auction fees going beserk lately, at Basset you're getting value for money. A flipping bargain, actually. If I were medically allowed to fly, I'd be on a plane applying for a job.(LOL) and bringing my scrap gold! The gallery and clean toilets are a bonus.
Great auction house, I am used to near 30% & its horrible. But I wonder 12:39 if the Doulton is from the same family that the grandson stalled out at Peterborough antique fair? That person claimed his grandparent worked at Doulton & was selling Doulton Noke figures. Those although it was claimed were prototypes. But were in fact orginal normal low value figures that had been refired in the modern era with unusual glazes to increase the value. You can find an webpage dedicated to Doulton flambe fakes if you want to check. But anything with that milky glaze on glaze foot & the firing problems I would run a mile from. Doulton Burslem did not let mistakes out very often & sadly you will find many more fakes than real ones on the market. .
I would say that’s Epic. How well considered and executed. A far cry from some auction houses offer with zero facilities & bloody freezing. And bravo for reducing the normal high rates of commission, competition is needed, maybe this is a wake up call for some??!! Unfortunately the sales tax, vat, is at a ridiculous level. 8% in Texas and people think that’s high. The State in the uk are money grabbers, always have been & I doubt if that will ever change, it is not business friendly in the UK. It seems to be treated as such, there’s a culture of dislike aimed at success. All the very best with the new venture.

Thank you Colin, they’ve thought of absolutely everything here and have cut no corners. I loved my visit
Looks stunning and I love their attitude to costs. All power to their elbow
Absolutely incredible!! A lot of money has spent on it that’s for sure!! I hope they do really well!
Thanks you, they deserve all success
What an absolute visionary! Thanks from NZ David
Than you for watching
love the laugh at the end

He does indeed…what a project he’s pulled together

I’ll definitely be back for this channel too!

Brilliant, I hope you get there. I stayed in the Angel Hotel, about 1 minute walk away!
Thanks for the tip, David.
Oh WOW. Love this. What a fantastic concept on the high street... and 10%!! The very best of luck RWB.
Thanks so much, it was such a delight to see

Thanks so much. What a place and what a team they are. It’s going to be a fascinating journey for them
I am based in Australia and I will be following their auctions and looking to buy. Excellent concept!
Brilliant to hear. They of course have a fantastic packing department!
Interesting setup and business model. Very attractive facility. Perhaps add a sign over the rear entrance from the parking lot..(minor suggestion)
Beautifully done, isn’t it Peter. Let’s hold a Peter Combs sale there!
What a fantastic venue and with a 10% commission! David my favorite auction house in NYC is 28%, and that’s before the addition of sales tax.
Fees have been creeping up all over the world!
i agree, that was amazing.
Wow 10% I wanted to sell some family stuff but was not going to pay 30%+ commission so I really hope you do well
What a great episode david . Cracking insite to behind the scenes . Loved the coins wish i could have a nice kilo gold coin ! 👍🔥🔥
You and me both!
What an amazing place, nay stunning. I wish them all the luck. With a dog that's named after a Klingon warrior from Star Trek too
That’s good extra info on the dog!

Yes, always lots of complaints about P & P. I know that RWB have, as you can imagine, an excellent packing and posting service though!

Funny when he said the cafe bistro would be online!
You can book online!
Love this 💌

Excellent feedback and I really appreciate it, thank you. I will take that on board.

RWB are certainly going to bring about some changes
It looks amazing there. Is it very far from Bristol?.
Not far at all!
Brilliant

Have you ever seen anything like this?
Swank!

Hmm, interesting info, thank you for that. I’ve never heard of the Peterborough seller. That would make an interesting vid!
Yellow trousers
almost always!

They’re really going for it. Jon is a serial entrepreneur and he’s planned this for a very long time
