Ima tell you a secret. If ever you're going for a German. Skip the bmw and merc. Go blindly for the Audi. It's the best. Everything is tested in audis before going to porsche. Audi's the real brand that deserves all the credit.
Alex has the best reviews much appreciated! I have the last gen audi a6 and bought it with 80,000 miles thinking i could drive it for a year see what its like and sell it. Its now year 3 and i'm on 122,000 miles and probably going to jump into this gen A6 such a great brand. Great mix of luxury, design and performance for price.
I owned a 2020 S8 and it remains one of my all time favorite daily drivers. It is remarkably better than the 7 Series that I had for a brief overlapping period.
I like how the proportions on this car still work and it's a 3 box type of sedan, no silly swooping roof trying to be a fastback, just a classic sedan !
Have a tuned 2015 and must say you are spot on. It’s one of the best all around do everything cars on sale. With the tune (ds1) it is shockingly fast while having the comfort to slug off 600 mile trips with ease. Great great car

Great review…. especially “piano surface” comment, my feeling exactly. Who wants to be monitoring your guests while maintaining a tidy visual environment, not me. there has to be a better surface material.
I've owned the Audi S8, the Mercedes S600 and currently drive the Genesis G90. I have to say the Genesis is awesome and I still have $50 grand in my pocket... :)

I think the reason i can't take to this guy, is he always seems to be doing a 'Richard Hammond' impersonation. I get that the car presenter world has a specific presentation style all stemming from top gear, but he lays it on bit too thickly. That's why Jason Camissa is so good, he has a unique presentation style.
The irony in a marginal automotive 'journalist' criticizing people that 'dribble for a living' is certainly not lost on me. What a wanker! The good thing, as that deep down, he certainly knows that he can't afford this car, so he's literally talking about himself.
For me, the most boring Audi next to the Q5. Big bland slab of a technology feast. However, the review by Alex is just the best. And oh, those subtle rumbles of that V8. Man, oh man. Audiogarsm.

I’m surprised that with today’s technology that manufacturers are still using actual window blinds and not an electronic privacy system that darkens the windows. Obviously you wouldn’t use it on a cheap car but a luxury vehicle would not be out of the question.
All the families that I know that have them often have them packed with lots of kids, stuff for hobbies, luggage for trips away etc. I didn’t want one when i came to change my older SMax, looking at cars like the A8 etc but you can’t get enough stuff in them for my hobbies and day to day life and estates never have sliding, individual folding rear seats which I often use so I ended up getting a Q7 Vorsprung which is like a limo with more luggage space and a lot more flexibility
A Good car but , sorry Carfection; I do prefer the S class. The 2021 version is impossibly elegant yet the grille is upright, imposing & stately. Then the interior is like the Royal Opera house but it met NASA. The BMW, well this new one is too crazy but the 2020 one is solid.
I like the S8 I do, but it's all ready out of date. If you had the money to buy this, then the E Tron GT is a serious rival at a very similar price point.

ok but they sell none of these. I live in a very upscale community (I'm not especially wealthy) and commute to work in a big city and the only A/S 8 cars I see are taking up space on the audi dealer's lot. By comparison, I see loads of BMW 7/8 series and Merc S class coupes/ coupes and SLs.
He sounds like he's trying to be far more sophisticated than he really is. Which is typical for an auto journalist these days. He probably can't even afford an entry level Hyundai.
This is a quite uninspired and disappointing video about the fantastic Audi S8. There would be thousand different things about this super modern luxury car, but he didn't even explain the amazing 48 volt "curve/carving" function of the S8 at min. 4:00, which is like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Active Body Control system.
Previous gen facelift S8 Plus is my gem. That was the peak imo.
Of the three big German saloons, this is the best looking by far. And is more understated than BMW and Merc too.
