2 year old video, but i wanted to add that Installed a 3in BDS lift on my 2015 ram 3500 mega cab with duel rated springs and it drove better than stock. It was within 1in from being to hi to fit in the car wash and parking garage. The truck drove like a Cadillac. Great video bro much love
Had we known you were doing a lift comparison, I would have kept my black FX4 there longer so we could have done BDS v. RC v. ReadyLift. That would have been rare to have all three of those brands side by side in DFW. Great meeting you both.
I have a 6" RC knuckle lift with the diff drops on my 2017 Silverado 1500 all my angles are just as stock! I've had mine for over a year now and not an issue. I just come from a 500+ mile trip running 90 mph at times no shimmy or shakes and runs straight down thw road. I also do some off roading nothing crazy still no issues. Soon to replace my spacers with the Vertex coilovers
I initially had my mind set on the Vertex kit but after seeing the symmetry of the CV axle comparisons, I might go with the BDS kit. Really appreciate you makin this vid!
For the angles you also have to remember you originally had a 6 inch kit and added 7 1/2 lift coil overs. When you buy a 6 inch kit the crossmembers and diff drop brackets are only meant to bring them down the 6”. If you were to get the full 7 1/2 kit, the angles would be better. But tbh yours aren’t as bad as others I’ve seen.
My boy repping. I have not had to replace anything on my suspension components or anything running the 38’s or 24x14’s. Definitely recommend and I daily my truck.
I got a 6” RC but added Fabtech 6” Coilovers. They cost $1,800 and are worth every penny! Fabtech is bigger out here in SoCal so I went with whats been popular/worked for years.
Good video. I’m a fan of both kits. I went with RC because I had issues getting the BDS, and RC offered a military discount. Vertex all around and it rides smooth.
Hey Q! You are correct Vertex are not rebuildable. And FOX recommends a rebuild every 50K. Or every 10K if a lot of rugged off-roading is going on. And I think I mentioned before the FOX ride smooooth. However Vertex does as well and at that price point! Its all based on budget and what you plan to do...:) For me - I still like to use my truck as a truck but still look nice. Thus why I didn't go to 37's and sticking with 35's. As putting things in and out of the bed can be a challenge that high.
I've got an 09 Dodge Dakota V8 4x4 with Rough Country N3's on all 4 corners. 3" blocks in the rear & a ram1500 knuckle & brake swap up front. It was night and day difference. CV axels are straight now & my UCAs sit level too. Rough Country has really come along way. I'd definitely get another set if needed / if I get a different truck. Great video!
I use rough country 3.5 lifted struts on my 2012 GMC Denali and it rides smooth like stock. I also run 33inch nittos . Keep bringing the content bro.1👍🏾
😂😂 thanks man! Yea I definitely think rough country has came a long way. Dude maybe that’s why I do it far as over explaining never thought about that 😂. Oh yaaaa people always have recommendations on what to do with your stuff lol
Both those cv angles are crazy. I've had a 6 inch rough country lift on my 13 ram for over 4 years now and the diff drop that came with it practically made my cv's straight as factory form. Maybe each brand differs.
I just installed all four corners new vertex love the way they drive versus my static lift with the Rough Country 7-inch block keep mine in the front set on 3 and the rear clicked up to 2
How is he getting 16-17 mpg?! That's super impressive. I'm getting like 12-13 at best. Great video again Q! I'm a BDS fanboi but definitely respect Rough Country, they've come a long way. I just happened to start out with BDS and it's been good across multiple trucks so I continue to buy what works. Another great video bro, you going off this Vlogmas!!

I get good gas milage thanks to my daily tune being somewhat conservative and because I don’t drive with a heavy foot. Just keep the truck out of boost basically and your mpg will be good for a lifted truck!
Great video I was torn between BDS and rough country on my ram. End of the day I went with price rough country lifted struts. 1600$ vs 4500 for BDS. Vertex coil over kit is only 1200 front an back on my ram. BDS coil over was 6500 total price VS 2800 for rough country. Anyways I'll upgrade too the vertex coils in a year or so
I've watched this video several times now, and I keep coming back to reference the information you talk about. I just had a 3" Rough Country Vertex coil over w/ N3's put on my truck. Love the way it looks about turned out, but you can definitely tell the difference between stock and the ride with the lift added. With that, plan to correct the angles on my CV axel's next and upgrade to the Vertex rear revisor shocks due to the rear suspension riding a lot stiffer with the N3's.
the whole vertex setup is nice i'm told. A buddy i work with has fronts and rears, loves them. I need to put them on mine. If you are wondering...you won't be disappointed.
Vertex shocks are adjustable 1-8 , the higher you go the stiffer the ride and less body roll. Q, you need to turn your adjustment up to 4 or 5 to not feel body roll. 1 is for off-road, 8 is for going fast
@@KickinItWithQ you really want to test these out take your truck up all the way to Preston rd to Gunter right when you get to Gunter you will really feel if these are good. I took my truck up their for the first time I have a 2020 ford f150 lariat 8inch with the vertex shock front and back I had them set 3 in front and 2 in back and damn It rode horrible for the small piece of highway very bumpy could barely control the truck . Today going back but the fronts are set at 4 and backs at 3 we’ll see how it rides
Great video. I hear nothing but good things about the vortex line. I think I’m going with a 6 inch BDS kit next. I’m Currently on the 4 inch ready lift bolt on kit. No complaints thus far, just not tall enough.
I'm having the 3" RC Vertex CO system with rear Vertex shocks installed on my 23' F150 now. The cost was about $4.5k after everything. BDS was not an option but Pro Comp was. I'm curious about the CV angle you mention here and the effect on the truck long term. Thanks for the vid!
The angle just isn’t ideal since that’s not how it was from factory but basically the worse the angle the more stress which leads to faster wear but nothing crazy. I’m on year 4 and no issues
cheaper for many reasons. I had a Zone 6 inch lift on my 2016. Its a very basic lift. Not even comparable to BDS. Cheaper for a reason. That being said I didnt have any issue with running the Zone lift for what I was using the truck for.
I thought i heard you say the vertex coilovers gave you a extra inch in the front to clear 37’s equaling 7 inch of total lift from a 6 inch rough country lift kit, maybe i could be wrong but that could be why the cv axles are a little off. When you install the lift kit the front differential is lowered 6 inches with RC front and rear cross members to achieve stock angles since the front differential has to sit lower to achieve lift. if I’m not mistaken lifting it over 6 even an inch will mess with angles. Could be wrong let me know
I lookng at the RC 3.5in Vertex for my tundra....priced around $2k.. im a road warrior. Truck is primarily used for family road trips and picking up mulch/dirt in spring... Not sure if theres any other brands comparable at that price point.

Ummmm the 10spd hard to beat but I hear it’s clunky at times. Probably because so man gears. I’ve driven one and it’s definitely smooth. I’d probably say 10spd
Great information and honest reviews.. both really nice trucks. That King Ranch interior is clean! You keep talking about "on my next build" alot lately... you thinking about selling Red?!

So it’s not a lift kit itself it’s just the coilovers upfront that we are referring to. According to what I heard the rough country vortex Coilovers after 40 to 50 K miles like the nitrogen stuff whatever is depleted or something like that and they can’t be refilled or redone like the fox can
Yall have yalls over lifted for 37’s, wouldn’t the truck drive better than stock with a 4” that is a lowered 6” because you gain 2 more inches of absorption? I’m looking at a 4” for my 22 Powerboost Platinum 4x4. I was looking at a $5600 BDS. With fox reservoirs.
I have a 2019 Ram Rebel with a standard Rough Country 6" lift. In 2019 RC was the only lift available. So far no issues. I now wanted to add fox coil overs to get rid of the spacer and the company states they dont have them for my truck and the several shops I have gone to say they cant find them and not sure if any parts have to be swapped out since its Rough Country kit. So now I am considering the Vertex Coilovers. is this true with fox?
I have a 2018 with 6 in rough country with the lifted struts...not vertex ...it rides ok but not as good as I'd like. The issue I'm having is I've went through 2 steering racks...idk if it's the big wheels or what...I. running 2x12s with 36s....have either of you guys had any issues with your electronic power steering rack?..
@@KickinItWithQ mine just wears out the internals so there is so much play in it the truck swerve s all over the road....similar to having bad tiered ends
The one thing i did not like about my titan, and its not the trucks fault, it is the lack of lift options for the truck. I could only get the rc 6” lift.
U can get RC with vertex for less then half of what he paid for his bds. 6inch kit plus vertex coilovers are under $2400, otherwise great video and thanks for the content
In a chevy guy . Can't really find a lift kit bigger than a 6.5 for a Ford F-150 . I got to have them 14 wides on 37s . Don't recommend leveling kits stacked on your lift kit or cranking up coilovers
I’ve always heard that from manufacturers too but I personally know several people that have put a level on top of a coil and people that have cranked up the coils. Their only tip is just be careful what you do in 4wd due to the CV axles.
Clean trucks..I used to sell both kits out of my shop.. BDS used to be head and shoulders above the RC kit but they have closed the gap it appears. Nice vid fellows 👌🏿. BTW I am getting around 14 MPG but I drive like Q, so I be going BACK BACK BACK to the gas station ⛽🤣 #EcoBeast
Question: Why do level kits (2" RC) come with blocks for the rear? I am wanting to remove the rake, how do rear modifications come into play? I don't think I will be installing the rear blocks...
20,000 mile didn’t know 😂😂 I’ve had an off road tacoma after 7 yrs didn’t try it & didn’t know what the button was lol tried it a week ago 😂😂😂it works great 😂😂
@@KickinItWithQ Thanks man. I’m doing this same exact rc lift. Which you like better? 22 or 24 look? I was just worried about sidewall height with 24. But them 37 look good on 24.
You can’t it’s apart of the lifted life . Some lifts do a better job at maintaining the stock angles of the axels. Rough country trends to stress the angles little more
I ordered the 6” Zone Lift kit for my 2019 f150 but I don’t want to run on that lifted strut spacer….. where can I get a good quality 6” lifted strut??? I can’t afford coilovers at the moment😑
What’s going on Q. Did you have the same issues with your Rough Country CV joints when you were running 35 inch tires and running your coils at the regular height of 6 inches? How were the CV joint angles then?
So im really curious aobut the comment that the kit wears out after 50k miles or so...what exactly does that mean? I was considering RC and dont want to be in a situation at 60-70k miles (have about 17k) with issues other than what I would have had with my stock stuff
Like over time shocks may start leaking oil , hoses break , lack if lubricant can cause damage internally to the shock etc . Fox can be repaired and “rebuilt”/ repaired. Apparently the rough country can’t be you’d just have to replace them.
@@KickinItWithQ cool thank you for the update there and that’s what I thought would be the case, that it would be like replacing the system ie buying it all over agin to some degree
So He is running 35's. Did he have to cut anything? And 17 MPG I'm thinking that is OK. I like that I get 19-20 MPG. You just have a heavy foot for your 12-13 MPG. Also, I drive with my MPG gauge up to keep me in check. Try this to increase your MPG. Reset the MPG gauge after you fill up and get on the highway with the cruise control at 55 MPH for a few miles. Now try to keep that MPG at what it records or try to increase that amount. It may be hard but you will have to change your driving habits. Good Luck!! 😂😂😂
Lol he’s on 36s but he has a lot of performance done and 10spd so makes sense. I reset every time I fill up so I can monitor how the truck is doing on mpg. I think he was running the more conservative tune from MPT as well
Hey man! Since I raised the coilover in the front an inch to be at 7 inches of lift I didn’t have to do much trimming. I still have my crash bars. All we did was trim the ends of both the front and rear crash bar and then trim the bottom of the factory plastic fender flare where it wraps into the wheel well at the bottom.
I feel that it’s not a good comparison due to the fact that fox shocks were used instead of RC original set up. Consumers want to know what to buy but if things are a le cart , then this video is irrelevant.
That’s because they are just spacer block lift kits. The FTS actually has an option to add coilovers which raises its price to a similar price range as BDS. Any kit that has coilovers is going to be substantially more expensive than a spacer block lift.

I have not bro but heard of guys who have. Heard it sounds like a chicken lol
@@KickinItWithQ mine just wears out the internals so there is so much play in it the truck swerve s all over the road....similar to having bad tiered ends
Oh man that sounds dangerous
The one thing i did not like about my titan, and its not the trucks fault, it is the lack of lift options for the truck. I could only get the rc 6” lift.
Your ford is clean bro
Preciate it bro and didn’t know that about her Titan
@@KickinItWithQ yea pretty much its either the rough country, or a $5k icon lift
Great vid. Cool guys!
Glad you enjoyed the video man. Thanks for watching.
BTW I am getting around 14 MPG but I drive like Q, so I be going BACK BACK BACK to the gas station ⛽🤣
#EcoBeast
😂😂😂😂 that’s hilarious and thanks for that feed back
Well you ever plan to get 20% tint the entire windshield? Would totally complete the look of your car.
I went 55% I did A video on it
Question: Why do level kits (2" RC) come with blocks for the rear? I am wanting to remove the rake, how do rear modifications come into play? I don't think I will be installing the rear blocks...
That’s a great question bro. I’m not sure as I never ran a leveling kit. I’d message RC. Their customer service is pretty good
@@KickinItWithQ great suggestion, thank you!
What do they measure from ground to top fender
Awesome video ✊🏾
Preciate you bro
20,000 mile didn’t know 😂😂 I’ve had an off road tacoma after 7 yrs didn’t try it & didn’t know what the button was lol tried it a week ago 😂😂😂it works great 😂😂
Can we get details on the wheel sizes?
Red truck is on 24x12 black is on 22x12
@@KickinItWithQ Thanks man. I’m doing this same exact rc lift. Which you like better? 22 or 24 look? I was just worried about sidewall height with 24. But them 37 look good on 24.
Honestly I like them both about the same. Really just depends on your preference of more tire or more wheel
@@KickinItWithQ Gotcha. Thanks for the replies bro
@@meangreen360 np man Thanks for watching
Have you figured out how to level out your front CVs a little bit more? Or thought about having that addressed?
You can’t it’s apart of the lifted life . Some lifts do a better job at maintaining the stock angles of the axels. Rough country trends to stress the angles little more
@@KickinItWithQ what about picking up the diff drop hardware from another kit?
I’m not too concerned with it too go through that process
@@KickinItWithQ well darn. If you end up addressing it and covering it on video then it’d be a video I’d watch👍
Absolutely! I appreciate you watching
I ordered the 6” Zone Lift kit for my 2019 f150 but I don’t want to run on that lifted strut spacer….. where can I get a good quality 6” lifted strut???
I can’t afford coilovers at the moment😑
Maybe look at Bilsteins or bds but honestly I’m not too sure
Have you thought about raptor LCAs?
I have not bro. Maybe once my stock ones go bad and I need to replace them I’ll look into that
Wondering if you had off road tests ?
Nah these aren’t off-road built trucks
I know you said u have 6in rough country fit.. but with the vertex coilovers it's a 7in lift but how big are ur blocks in the back
It’s whatever Blocks that comes with the rough country lift kit so think 5” block
I want a lifted truck that rides like stock lol. I'll pay a pretty penny to make it happen.
Yea both of these kits will get you close
What’s going on Q. Did you have the same issues with your Rough Country CV joints when you were running 35 inch tires and running your coils at the regular height of 6 inches? How were the CV joint angles then?
Great question bro! I didn’t check them honestly but I can only imagine they were less stressed since my lift wasn’t as tall without the coilovers
I had my rough country lift and it’s not quite level any suggestion
Coilovers is only going that will fix it
On the fence now... BDS Fox or Rough country Vertex
Ummm money wasn’t a issue then bds. If it is rough country for sure
@@KickinItWithQ Soooo I guess Im running with BDS...lmao
@@Murdaoneproductions lol
what do you guys use these big trucks for anyway just to stare at them and not use them for off roading
Pretty much. Pavement princesses
What exhaust does Paul have?
Think corsa or flowmasters
@@06ckirby exactly
Do you both have the 3.5 or does he have a 5.0?

Whats the brand wheels on the red truck?
TIS wheels

Not as weird as sitting in the back seat of your truck
I think he was running the more conservative tune from MPT as well
@@KickinItWithQ did he cut the bumper or anything?
Man let me ask. We didn’t even discuss trimming. I’ll reply when I find out
Yes sir!!!!!🏆🏆🏆🏆🔥
💪🏾💪🏾 thanks for the support man!
Do you have coilovers in the back
Not in this video but I do have them now.

Grapevine Lake I see
Yep! 💪🏾
Rough country has never made a correct size diff drop for their kit
Great Job...
Thanks man! Preciate you watching!
Bro! You went to NorthShore with out a Bike😅 ?! Defenately too much suspensión for around here;)
lol My first time out there
Why would you get adjustable dampening coilovers and not adjust them?? 🤦♂️ lol
I think one is 8 and the other one is actually 7
Lift
I feel that it’s not a good comparison due to the fact that fox shocks were used instead of RC original set up. Consumers want to know what to buy but if things are a le cart , then this video is irrelevant.
I need to get a truck someday
💪🏾💪🏾
Learn to drive your truck with mirrors than add camera as an extra tool, same learning to shoot with iron sites before adding anything
Sounds like u got a turn signal out bro.
It’s the LED taillights
@@KickinItWithQ Interesting, the factory LEDs on mine don't do that. Wonder why they do with aftermarket
I have xlt trim which don’t get LEDs taillight ls so when you add the LEDs that Are found on higher trims light lariat and up it causes hyper
@@KickinItWithQ crazy
FTS and Mcgaughys are actually cheaper lifts..
Then bds.. didn’t know that
That’s because they are just spacer block lift kits. The FTS actually has an option to add coilovers which raises its price to a similar price range as BDS. Any kit that has coilovers is going to be substantially more expensive than a spacer block lift.
👍🏻
Thanks for watching bro
VERTEX MY GUY no vortex lol
I heard fat girls look good when they lay down on a bed and stretch out or so I have read
