A life sent on is quite literally the essence of xenoblade 3. Flutes made specifically for recording music in the game, used by the characters in the game.

The closest we had so far was Symphonic Game Music concert feat. Kenji Hiramatsu about a week ago in Osaka. It was officially approved by monolith and nintendo too. Sadly I only learned about it after they already performed it, judging by the twitter it was really good.

there was a japanese fan concert a few months ago their english singing voices were pretty interesting
A Life Sent On is the core of Xenoblade 3. No other piece of music is as important to the game than that one short piece. It's also an example of Diegetic music whenever that song plays, its being played by one of the characters. I'm sure people have told you, but the flutes used to record these songs were handcrafted replicas the flutes used by the characters in game, making the sound wholely unique to this game.
Another interesting thing also to mention is if you look at the characters playing the flutes in the cutscenes they match how you play the notes of the song. They went so much effort into the flutes that they made two exact replicas of the flutes in game but also make them play the flutes exactly the same in game as you would in real life

Dude, seeing the first glimpse of Ether weaponry and very rapidly going from "oh this looks neat" to "waitaminute" to "THAT'S XENOBLADE!" and then the title flowing on screen. So good.

I will never get tired of the "A Life Sent On" melody, no matter how many times I hear it. It's already gorgeous in isolation, but once experienced within context, Xenoblade 3's mastery of musical storytelling rapidly becomes apparent.

Recently with a bro, we composed an orchestral piece for our Prepa (french studies after high school) Orchestra and New Battle was our main inspiration.

Yeah "New Battle!!!" Is from the futures connected DLC for 3. The way we got the full track was hilarious. When the dlc was being slowly revealed the website had a "taste" of the battle theme with a small snippet of the track. Except monolith uploaded the full thing to the site so it was just digged up from the data lol. Honestly one of my favorite battle tracks 8n the franchise for just how bubbly and fun it feels...which is funny when you consider the dlc story.

The recorded performance to celebrate XB1 on the 3DS is the closest we’ve gotten to a concert sadly, but never say never as a lot of Nintendo IP’s have had their own live concerts. I had pretty much the same experience as Jesse when I first heard New Battle, it definitely gave me the same feeling as when I first played Torna and experienced its amazing battle theme. Kenji Hiramatsu is a master when it comes to composing these fun Jazz fusion-esque battle themes. What’s really cool about it, is that according to the OST, it incorporates elements of Mechanical Rhythm and Still Move Forward (Mechanical Rhythm being very clear in the guitar riffs and solos).
I am SUCH a sucker for battle music that has a quiet piano solo rendition of the chorus during the bridge that suddenly ramps into the finale. Seems like a highly specific thing, but I love when it happens.
Its been a joy watching you play Xenoblade 1 jesse! really appreciate how you're taking your time with it thats how these big JRPG's are supposed to be played.
There’s a tiny piano portion in New Battle!!! that reminds me of Coconut Mall lol. I also love the claps because it’s like a celebration of the trilogy’s closure.
The little salsa origins really are great. Reminds me of Hop's Battle from Pokemon Sw/Sh. The melody itself is a bit reminiscent of Mario & Luigi, so this track sounds super nostalgic to me.
This isn't story related, but the composers actually got the flutes from 3 made in real life. I think it was for the purpose of having the soundtrack "sound more authentic" by having the in game flutes match the real ones for the recording or something, but I think most fans and merch collectors just went "Where buy?" or "Gimme" when they first saw them.

A life sent on is the most important song in 3, it later goes on to become used in leitmotifs of other songs.
The way it’s used makes you feel many emotions but in game it’s mostly used for a sad song the characters play with their flute to send off the dead. Every time it plays it’s an emotional moment
A Life Sent On is the leitmotif of the main characters. It's so much the case that Monolith made the protagonists carry a couple shinobues (Japanese flutes), and then they commisioned an artisan to make them real and functional, and used them on the OST.
And, if you purchased the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 OST Limited Edition, the package carries the two flutes at 1:3 scale (obviously, at such a small size, they are not functional).
I might have paid good money to get life-size replicas.

At 9:50, you can hear the guitar going wild in the background. That riff is a reference to a battle theme from XC1, "Mechanical Rhythm", which you won't be hearing for a good while in your playthrough, but you did react to a couple years ago.
Love watching you slowly fall in love with the first game as you play it on the VOD channel.
This series is life-changing, man. It'll spoil you and make you wonder why all games can't be this good.

There's absolutely something so special about the series. Not just the unique and huge environments, not just the super polished and emotional soundtracks, not just the unique battle system, but the characters and relationships and storytelling is so good. IMO it all comes together in the most amazing way in 3, but all of them are fantastic in their own right.
The entire Xenoblade series is full of heart and passion. You can see it with their stories, world, and music. Especially with how interconnected they are.
I love Xenoblade (and Xeno writ large) because it's a celebration of humanity. All the flaws, all the quirks, and all the accomplishments that define mankind are put in full focus, and it makes the story feel so important and profound.

The 2nd theme is from the DLC side of XC3 called Future Redeemed. Would avoid the trailers for obvious reasons but the music in general in there is outstanding. There's particularly good region themes including Cent-Omnia or Black Mountain.
Yoooooo, I was just looking for New Battle!! reactions. Fucking fantastic timing. And combining it with A Life Sent On.... damn good video. Loving your playthrough of Definitive Edition so far, and I'm really excited for you to be able to eventually experience 3 in particular. 3's easily one of my favorite games of all time.
There are no Xenoblade concert. the closest we got was a youtube video of an orchestral Xenoblade 1 set of tracks for the release of the 3DS port in 2015 (iirc that's when).
HOWEVER there will be a XenoSAGA concert in France. Yes. XenoSaga, which didn't receive any game since 2006. And it'll even be a piano arrangement concert on Xenosaga Episode I in particular. The reason is that Wayô Records, a French Company that produces officially licenced piano arrangement albums of video game music started a kickstarter in march, and they reached the last stretch goal, where they would, among other things, do a concert (probably first half of 2025)
He's not gonna see this anyways, so. Reminding myself to buy avocado, tortillas and wagyu.

Life Sent On is the best track in XB3 for me. For lots of people it's The Weight of Life, but I think that one is only as good as it is because it uses the motif from Life Sent On. Also when this track plays in full, it's at some of the most touching moments. It's a very important track, and the most memorable from my play through.
Really love that you said “new battle!!!” Brought you back to the past. The game really feels nostalgic.
New Battle!!! Might seriously be my favourite track from Xeno as a whole, or maybe a tie with 96-:rip. hands clapping is just cheating.
Also, a bit of trivia about the song's name:
Xenoblade 1's main wbattle them had 1 exclamation mark,
Xenoblade 2's had 2 (only in the JP version), and 3's... didn't. but hey, its DLC fixed that, with an absolute banger as a bonus, so that's cool!
Also, yes: Some people DO watch every bit of your Xenoblade 1 playthrough 😊
A life sent on always makes me tear up
Xenoblade really doesn't have a huge fanbase. The most any individual game has sold is not even 3 million, BUT it is an incredibly dedicated fanbase. We relish watching others get into the series and reacting to the huge moments and powerful emotions that we all got swept up into.

It has been fun watching you experience Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition on your other channel. Very interested in how your view of the music changes the more you get invested in the series goes. I can hear (and see) that desire to experience it all growing.
Here's hoping we get a surprise X announcement before the end of life on Switch next month. That way you have the option of experiencing all of Xenoblade. (Even if X is a offshoot!)

The first time A Life Sent On played in the made me cry uncontrollably, and made me very aware that this wouldn't be the last time in that game. It's just such an emotional piece and so fundamental to the game

idk if you noticed but New Battle!!! features a short segment from the intro of Mechanical Rhythm (another song you've listened to before) idk the significance of it though (which is good because you don't want to know that side of it)

it might be an idea for you NOT to listen to any more tracks from Future Redeemed. Its OST has VERY explicit connections to the first two games (in track names and immediately upon pressing play) and with where you are in XC1 it would completely spoil some amazing reveals should you ever play it.
Well if you ever DO consider to play the rest of the trilogy, I’d recommend trying to do less side quests to get through them quicker, they’re each about 70 hours if you do minimal quests.
I hope you don’t listen to that much from Xenoblade 2. That one has the best soundtrack, and you should really hear the music in the context of the game.

It sucks cause this game of course like all Xenoblade games has great music but holy shit I will never agree with the majority of Xenoblade fans who gas up 3 as much as they do. The game is so disappointing to me

Most of the cast of the first two games are stored in Origin. The Ontos chip in the core of Origin rebooted and removed it's memories as A while becoming Alpha (spitting image of Alvis). Matthew (great grandson of N&M) and A break up a fight between two colonies and make Glimmer and Nikol into Ouroboros. Glimmer is the reincarnation/clone of Rex and Pyra's daughter while Nikol is the same but for Shulk and Fiora's son. The children of Zeke/Pandoria and Reyn/Sharla also tag along.
They lead an attack to stop Alpha from restarting the universe again, but while victorious Rex, Shulk and A merge with Origin to preserve Aionios and the shared future for both worlds. Matthew and the survivors become the City founders, and he reveals he chose the last name of Vandham.
A side note: Alpha gives the cast a glimpse of the past before Klaus' experiment and we hear direct references to Xenogears, Xenosaga and X over the radio.
