Nice job, I have referred to your breakdown a couple times now. I have an older corded TC Pro I bought used; inside was unbelievable! Prior owner put it away with paint in it. Must of had it apart at one time because the spring in the tip was gone, couldn't figure out the drips. I lucked out and found a stainless spring nearly identical at Ace. Tension seemed the same and been running now for over a year with no drips on shut off. Run with a RAC X tip guard and a green FFLP 210 tip, home projects only. I use spray brake cleaner and it cleans out latex in check valves nicely with no apparent problems. Also, the green automotive AC O-rings work fine if you damage any. Thanks again! Mike

I have one of those paint sprayer and is happened to me having to deal with clogging/spitting issues
But I have figured out the problem, I always open the little tap on my paint cup and let the air out for some reason gets air after priming then works just fine (that could be the problem) not sure

It's interesting that Graco makes a big deal about not spinning the gear that controls the pump, but it does not appear that you had any adverse effect from spinning your pump.

So did you figure out why it was spitting? Mine spits all the time to now, whatever the tip or the paint. It spits for like one sec right when I pull the trigger and then as I continue my pass not letting go of the trigger my spray pattern is fine for the rest of my pass. But it spits enough so that it messes what I'm painting at the beginning of my pass.. Very annoying and a waist of time for an expensive tool.. It's been thoroughly cleaned, using a new tip and thinning the paint but nothing works to fix this. In the manual they say the front valve has reached the end of it's life.. Did you change your's, was that your fix? I have seen absolutely no video's about this front valve but plenty about changing the pump... Any thoughts ??

Sorry for the slow response. I actually haven’t had a chance to use the sprayer again since I did the tear down. The front valve is easy enough to change. I think the assembly is $70-80ish. I’d say it’s worth a shot.

Finally got to use the sprayer. A good cleaning fixed it in my case. If it hadn’t, I’d say swapping out the tip and check valves would be a good second step.

Sometimes a very good deep clean of the pump will work but if you look at the design of the little units, there are one way valves and a triaxial pump. The motor and power source do not see any paint so we can ignore those for the spitting problem. The system is Airless which means no air (obviously) but also means the paint is atomised purely by pressure. The first two check valves are like a pressure accumulated, the check valve in the front only opens when a certain pressure has been obtained then it released the pressurised paint in to the tiny cavity between the end of the check valve and the back of the tip. So, how does it spit ?
It can be some debris in one of the check valves causing it to hold very slightly off its seat until adequate pressure has developed to correctly atomise the paint. It could also be wear on the piston shafts of the triaxial pump allowing paint to pass back along the piston body until no more can pass back and it has to build forward pressure, the time lag from pulling the trigger and the correct pressure to atomise the paint would be compromised and also cause the spitting at the beginning of a pass, if it’s at the end of a pass then the problem is generally caused either wear in the very front check valves seat or ball end or some debris preventing the check valve closing fully.
If using water based products, make sure you either clean using pump armour or warm soapy water

I’m a 30+ year professional painter - have used all sorts of rigs and keep my gear looking new and clean the s**t out of my equipment. That said. I’ve used this TC Pro 2x and it no longer pulls liquid from the cup. I’ve removed the two plastic Allen head check valves from the front and gently put them back in after cleaning. Now one won’t come out. Lightly stripped it I guess.
Rig repair guy said to run some denatured alcohol thru it - which is hard to do since it won’t pull anything. What a waste of $$$.
This is my 3rd Grace handheld. Prior 2 were the $250 corded models. Pumps burn up.
I used them in climate controlled areas to touch up ceilings and such on apartment make-ready jobs.
Shame. If anyone has tips for removing those Allen head valves on front of sprayer - LMK!!!

Graco sells pump lube. I have been putting some of the lube in the pump and on the threads of the plugs every time I use it. I also keep some spare plugs on hand. If you don’t lube them up, the only way to get them out is to ruin them. Anytime one starts to get monkeyed up I just replace it. I think they make them out of plastic so they seal properly in the holes. I think they’re intended to be a wear part.

@@unskilledmechanic9601 I got mine out.. the damaging way. Ordering new and a new main valve too. Are you referring to TSL? I was thinking some G2 pipe lube would work well.

    • @bshbrianharris
      @bshbrianharris 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think the TSL lube is correct. Just a few drops is all I do.

I've used mine twice. The first time, all went well. The second time, it started spitting but I got the job done. I haven't been able to flush it with water. It seems to prime okay, but the spray won't flush any water through it. All three outlet valves seem fine so far.
Was considering taking it to service for whatever cost that may be, but this video seems like cleaning deeper is doable. Not sure if he got it fixed or if I should just take it in. I certainly don't feel like I got my money's worth for only two small jobs before having to fork over more cash.

So I've changed all 3 valves out - seated ball/spring housing thingy as noted in manual - when I screw them into the sprayer, the ball/spring housing seats itself all the way in - and I don't get much pressure at all. Priming is weak (looking into cup) and primary valve only lets water out like a wrecked prostate.
