Superb vocal, one of Paul's top five as Beatle or solo. Much more emotion than usual, fired by the devastating loss of his wife Linda. First time in many years I've listened to this. It's raw, beautiful, and heartbreaking. Cheers, Paul.
...For all I know and read Ricky Nelson wanted to respected (also in the early days) as a RocknRoll Man like Carl (a man whom he adored) or Elvis. Like Elvis he was also a teenage idol and a idol in his time. He loved to sing this sad song untill he died in 1985 by the plane crash, written by his friend of the late 50s, Baker Knight.
Rick Nelson didn't record a single song in his career with the singular goal of becoming a teen idol. That label was applied to him for marketing purposes and it didn't set well with him. Guess you're not the Nelson fan you proclaim to be. Rick covered Billie Holiday for goodness sakes before he was old enough to vote. I'll take Dylan and Petty's performance just weeks after Rick died. That spoke to my broken heart.
I've been a Beatle fan since Love me Do but I've NEVER ever heard McCartney's voice sound so haunting... it seems to come from somewhere so deep inside him... it's magical with Gimour singing the lower harmony....
martin vaccaro I have heard Ricky Nelson's version. Yeah, it's good. I just listened to it again in fact. Still, I always prefer Paul McCartney's live version.
@@zxccxz164 I guess usually I just like the original version of the song better. Accept Love Hurts by Nazareth is better than Roy Orbison in my opinion LOL
I just can't stop listening to it! It's beautiful, moving... I have no words of my admire. To me McCartney's version of this song is better than original.
Paul is not really playing the bass in this video. What his fingers. He’s faking it. Cause it’s not Paul, it’s Faul. Paul died in 1966 in an automobile crash.
McCartney's voice is one of the most beautiful things in the whole music industry.
the best yes. Always have goosebumps that big🍎
when 2 legends meet, Gilmour and Mccartney,speechless...
Dont forget Ian paice on Drums!

I love when Gilmour sings with him.
I love Rick Nelson but he recorded Lonesome Town to be a teen idol. Paul did it to grieve for his wife.

My Hero for all time....The best musican ever...
same
That voice, man!
Wish he would still perform this song
I think this was a favorite of Linda's. You can hear the emotion in his voice.
Exactly. Thank you.
Incredible version 😮
Fantastic feeling in this. Some people might prefer Nelsons version, but remember this is live and still amazingly heartwarming
They're both fabulous!

This was also the concert for Linda after her passing, which makes this version even more incredible
Marvellous... I'm crying...
WOW...... I just can't find any other word to describe it ...
Great, all great musicians [all stars]
The Beatles on vocal, Pink Floyd on lead guitar and Deep Purple on drums. ......
What better can one get even after dying and getting to go to heaven?
@Daffa Hazza i thought so too. Funny!
Macca really takes this song into beatles territory here.. Flawless vocal perfomance like a studio recording. As if its a track on a beatles album.
Exactly!
I've been a Beatle fan since Love me Do but I've NEVER ever heard McCartney's voice sound so haunting... it seems to come from somewhere so deep inside him... it's magical with Gimour singing the lower harmony....
Run Devil Run by Paul is one of the best album of his
i love you paul
Paul killed it... like always! Great voice still.
his voice oof 👏🏻👏🏻
I love both versions but I love the direction Paul took its not the original but it works really well the way paul sings it.
You are an honorable man for covering this Ricky Nelson song Paul McCartney.
Except that it wasn't a Ricky Nelson song. He sang - but did not write - it.
Very Emotional
Best version ever!
This more jazzy rock take on the song hits super hard
I noticed that he’s still wearing his wedding ring here :( poor Linda
Who knew Paul did this? So good!
happy Birthday Rick
Splendid vocals
Sensacional!!!
Amei essa versão
Well, that's a cover I never saw coming.
So emotional
I love a Lot this song
AMAZINGG!!
Rest in peace Ricky Nelson.
This is great, but check out Ricky Nelsons original version.McCartney is awesome.

I just can't stop listening to it! It's beautiful, moving... I have no words of my admire. To me McCartney's version of this song is better than original.
@omid7905 And Ian Paice???
Is that Jeff Lynn on drums?
Ian Paice Deep Purple
Why is Paul older than me and I'm grey haired and he isn't??
Just For Men's: Autumn Sunset range
Bc he can Paint his hair
Nice, but doesn't hold a candle to Ricky's version....
I hear a lot of Coming Back to Life references by David Gilmour.
This would have tickled Ricky!
No need to scream so much! Ricky Nelson's rendition is better. 🙂
It was nice of Paul to pay tribute to Rick Nelson this way. But his version pales compares to Nelson's.
Patrick Bickers "Pales"... You have to be joking.
Wow Brilliant:!! Always Any Song Macca Sings Is A Real
Treasure:!! Really Blessed 2
Have This Man..The 1 & Only
Sir.Paul McCartney.❤💋💋❤
agree
Luv the beatles to no end, BUT Ricky owns this song !
No, there are better covers. I love Paul but this doesn't suit him.
I love Paul McCartney but I think Ricky Nelson did the song Best
Paul is not really playing the bass in this video. What his fingers. He’s faking it. Cause it’s not Paul, it’s Faul. Paul died in 1966 in an automobile crash.
Hit single by Ricky nelson... ruined by Paul McCartney...
original was better
He wasnt trying to do better than the original he tried his own style
