i think i have mentioned this before on your channel but i will say it again . i remember back in 95 , 96, 97, etc when i was a teen and just getting serious about bodybuilding , going to the magazine stores and being so excited to get the new magazines , not knowing who won the Olympia until getting the new magazine , seeing the winner on the cover ! it was realy exciting , i do remember one year calling the hotline to find out who won since i was too excited and couldn't wait to find out .i will admit i have not bought a magazine in a long time . i now have that same excitement when there is a new youtube video of a bodybuilder i follow such as yourself . times are just different now . some stores are no longer carrying dvd's or cd's i can't believe news papers still exist .
Hi, Jay & Dave 🎄I always enjoy your Jay walking sessions, I grew up in the 70,s reading Muscle and Fitness mostly following Arnold and trying his techniques. I did my workouts at Ballys Gym when they were popular back in the day I really loved the crossover cable machine I eventually bought a Joe Weider bench set with 120 lb weights I was able to make room in the garage I really loved to workout I just turned 65 years old yesterday I’m down to 221 from weighing 280 last winter in 2022 and I feel 45 👍🏻 also I walk my Lab Jase 3 times a day. Jay & Dave have a great week , I enjoy watching all your videos and your encouragement and dedication to bodybuilding. Thanks, Danny
These Jaywalks are so calming, cool and almost essential. It reminds us that despite our hectic lives, it is important to find the time to just chat for the sake of chatting. Find out about others, their lives, plan things and just... chat. Good old chat. The relationship between these two is touching. Respect, curiosity and admiration.
I started reading the muscle mags in the 1970’s. I used to go to all of the newsstands and read them. By the 80’s I had subscriptions to all of them and couldn’t wait to receive each issue in the mail every month. Musclemag was my favorite one.
MMI was great. I remember when I could only find it @ one place - a newspaper stand. Back in the days when Robert Kennedy was a teacher. Do you remember how it would sometimes miss a month? It was impressive how he kept it going and how it grew over time. It was great that there was a mag that wasn't Weider.
Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, Jay as always great content on everything you post…I loved reading those magazines especially Muscle Mag, wish it would get published again.
Thanks Jay and Dave (FTB) for the walk and talk , do miss the magazines it was great every month going to get the magazines at least 50 bucks a month , kept all of them had them in storage until someone broke in and trashed them great times !!!! SR.
I was always so excited to get the next muscle magazine. MF, Flex, Musclemag. Would buy them all on the Military base. We would all pass them around the shop. I still have the 3 that I made it in. Made the over 40 up and coming and the military addition 2 times. Have a Couple of copies. One of them got me and another friend a free trip to the Olympia as a guest at the Weider booth. Was so cool. They gave us bags of stuff. Such a respect for the Military in the Bodybuilding community.
The videos are definitely better, but I still miss the magazines always always at the newsstands scene of Jay was going to be on the cover. Those were the good old days
Milos and Nassir were my 2 idols man! Both of them all over every magazine, Lee Priest with those giant freakin arms. Paul Dillete looking like an alien from planet jacked-af. Dapper Jay C looking like THE Cali kid all kindsa pumped up man. I bought every magazine I could get my hands on. Mike Mattarazo, Chris Cormier, Flex and of course Ronnie and Mr. Aggravation himself Shawn Ray. No matter what he had a killer physique even tho most cannot stand him.
Bought my first of many muscle mags at GNC back in the mid 80's Went to my 1st Arnold in 1991 Saw Jay win it in 2002, missed the 03,04 shows. I looked forward to the EPO'S more than anything, free supps and up and close to all the athlete's. Good times.
Thanks for giving a shout out to actual reading Jay it’s a unique experience because it’s your own mind imagination. Love the channel and very best wishes to you and your own for Christmas and a happy and successful New Year. Love Capone and Daisy ! Jim Harrison. Cheshire UK.
@jay "The Legend" Yes I still got all my muscle magazines I purchased , used to wait at the newsstand for new copy to come out monthly , my favorite was muscle mag . #bringthemuslcemagsback
I use to buy 3 mags every month ,I still have some old ones around that I look at every now & then . Flex, MD ,I even have some old school Dan Lurie Muscle Training ill, & Power Lifting USA love the good old days. 💪
I bought all the mags back in late 80s, 90s. Bought most at Crown books b/c they never charged full price. Diff %s off for mags & books. Their tag line was “if you paid full price, you didn’t buy it at Crown books.” Been OOB for years. Have a brother that went to Ariz St U in early 90s. When grocery shopping on a visit down there I bought the WBF mag, Vince McMahon’s federation. My brother was renting a house there. Had a party on the weekend that I was there. Vince Comerford (RIP Vinny) showed up. He was in the mag that I purchased. My brother’s friend introduced me to him. He sighed my mag for me. Other than standing out for his different haircut and being as wide as he was tall. He appeared to be just an ordinary guy mingling with people and having a good time.
You guys always cover some great topics on your walks….absolutely I’d buy magazines, there’s just something special about opening one up and seeing glossy photos, way different than even websites or social media! Keep up the good work guys!! 🎄🎅🏻💪
It was always good seeing jay on a cover....loved how he represented bodybuilding throughout the years and continues to do so which is pretty damn awesome!💪🔥
I was the Marine Corps and did prison mail call both times were important for moral. I use wait for all the lifting magazines to come in each month. I hate how now you have to travel for store to store looking for them. I agree bring them back.
I got my interest in bodybuilding by reading the magazines you mention in the bookstore in 1977. I could only afford to buy one so I would buy the one with the most information . I would read the others as I stood buy the book rack. Years later I was reading one and the worker told me I can’t read them without buying it . This was a gas station store. This last summer I was out of town and found a August Muscular Development magazine at a store and of course I bought it . I have not seen any bodybuilding magazines in the stores for a few years other than that one. Another good Jay walking guys.
Yes! I’ve got a magazine for Jay to sign at the Strongest Man on Earth if he comes. I bought it at my local grocery store back when i was 12 years old.
I think the magazine could work if it came with little extras. Example, ways to enter to win trips to bodybuilding shows, autograph posters, and maybe exclusive interviews that would only be found in those magazines. The stores would have to keep them locked away, the marketing would have to be top notch and the different QR codes for prizes would have to be one time use only, for a limited time and have an expiration date.
Yes i absolutely agree with the magazines. i love magazines! Im loving the supplements i will definitely be ordering more in the coming days thank you for shipping so far into canada im in the boonies 😂 i got my eyes on the iso protein cinnamon cereal the generate and the glutamine and both your daily vitality for my mother 👍🏻im really feeling great from the amplify, triumph and L- citrulline!! Looking forward to the next video give the puppies a pet for me !!and say hello to the wife !!
I remember back in the mid to late 80’s Muscle and Fitness and Flex. It’s all we had to see what was really going on in the Body Building world and wanted to be a beast for the girls! 😀
Oh yeah, My Brother and I used to spend hours reading all of the magazines. We'd usually read them first, then buy them and give them to my Dad, or my Uncle (He's a big fitness enthusiast). Muscular Development (our favorite), Flex, Muscle and Fitness were the Best! Here in Texas, the magazines were like $10-$12 dollars. As much as we'd like to have all of them, we usually would pick and choose which one we were gonna buy lol
I still have Flex,Ironman,MMI,and MD from the 90s and early 2000s.I own an old school gym and break them out for my newbies so they can see how it's supposed to be
Back when I was buying Muscle and Fitness mag I found a online deal that got me a crazy good price. At one point I have close to 70 mags but after moving several times I had to let most of them go. I unfortunately did not keep any Jay covers but still have several Arnold covers.
Please Bring Back The Magazines, they have something that you can't get through digital platform, Opening the cover, texture of the pages, smell of the the ink and paper, miss it a lot.
get up make your bed drink your water... all good, but i dont make my bed. After I got out of the army, I stopped folding clothes and making my bed. Kind of windy on your walk.
Is it worth to trade your future kin and real legacy for money and fame? Ask any bodybuilder known or unknown and they will gladly put even their soul for the right price - anything for money! 😂💪
i think i have mentioned this before on your channel but i will say it again . i remember back in 95 , 96, 97, etc when i was a teen and just getting serious about bodybuilding , going to the magazine stores and being so excited to get the new magazines , not knowing who won the Olympia until getting the new magazine , seeing the winner on the cover ! it was realy exciting , i do remember one year calling the hotline to find out who won since i was too excited and couldn't wait to find out .i will admit i have not bought a magazine in a long time . i now have that same excitement when there is a new youtube video of a bodybuilder i follow such as yourself . times are just different now . some stores are no longer carrying dvd's or cd's i can't believe news papers still exist .
The last magazine I ever bought was the 2003 Flex Magazine, Olympia addition. I must have read that thing a thousand times.

And yes magazines need to come back on many formats.
When you are this badass your dog lives vicariously through you not vice versa😂🎉

Toilet reading is the best reading! Lol😂
I still have my old mags. Sad to see muscular development bite the dust.
I still have my mags from late 90s early 2000s I also would read them in stores
Jay walking is better than reading a magazine
💪🏼🔥
I still enjoy reading more than anything else. Waiting for your autobiography champ. I would buy magazines if they reduced the amount of ads in it.
Like for 1 Million!!
I still have a few magazines with you on the cover
Back when I was buying Muscle and Fitness mag I found a online deal that got me a crazy good price. At one point I have close to 70 mags but after moving several times I had to let most of them go. I unfortunately did not keep any Jay covers but still have several Arnold covers.
