I kind of wish there was a brand that did its best to be sustainable without the fearmongering of clean beauty. I remember someone telling me years ago that they wanted almonds covered in milk chocolate, but that they only ever found it covered in dark chocolate. That they felt like the producer assumed that choosing almonds means the consumer is a health nut, and therefore wouldn’t want milk chocolate. I feel like zero waste brands make the same kind of assumption: wanting less plastic means you want fewer “chemicals” like no preservatives, or essential oils over fragrance. I think, and this video and comment section is proof, there is a big market for science-backed skincare in sustainable/eco friendly packaging.
Thank youuu!!! Oh my gosh it's so nice to see someone else with common sense lol! My husband is 39. He became a vegetarian just after his 11th birthday. In TEXAS mind you!! After his 18th birthday he became vegan and has never looked back. I went vegetarian 12 years ago . We always bitch and moan that not wanting to harm animals, doesn't mean that we solely want to eat mud and organic kale lol! We want yummy food like everyone else. You absolutely do not have to sacrifice flavor and taste to be compassionate! You can also be a normal human being that loves a good "cheat day" like the rest of the globe🙄😂
I don't know if this will help but there's a thing called easter almonds where I'm from and they come covered in all sorts of chocolate, even colored ones. Instead of egg hunting, people gift each other almonds for easter over here
The problem is that many "chemical" skincare ingredients are bad for the environment to produce, even if they are very good for the skin, so it would be hypocritical
@@eveningstar8581 you expect sustainable brands that are labeled vegan and eco friend to not be sustainable and vegan and eco friendly. Essential oils are not sustainable. And there are many brands out there that are sustainable and vegan that their products are good for you and the planet. If I find such brands in Greece and they are US based, you can find them in US and UK and Europe. You can't expect a brand to be sustainable and harm the planet at the same time or animals. It's like saying I am a vegan that eats chicken daily.
I've researched so many brands who are Zero Waste and have the same issues that you do! I've searched for a deodorant/antiperspirant that doesn't come in plastic packaging, but all of the zero plastic options are also "Aluminum free!" Like, I just want a skincare brand that doesn't use plastic, has science based formulations, doesn't test on animals, and is eco friendly.
@@msk-qp6fn lol good point. I just wish the two sides of the skincare world could start meeting in the middle. Like, combine the Clean Beauty side's zero plastic packaging, eco friendly practices, no animal testing and the Traditional skincare side's science based products and elegant formulations.
I recommend AKT! I think they are aluminium free but they genuinely work so well and they come in metal tubes so they’re recyclable! They’re on the pricier side but they do last a few months each
Video suggestion: using the correct amount of sunscreen for the spf labeled with a variety of types of products. I think it could be quite eye opening seeing how much you’d have to use
Yes! Lol I would like to see an attempt at the spf setting powder. And it would to see setting sprays too, I have supergoops resetting spray and I used a few spritzes and it was so greasy and made my face itch, I knew I couldn’t have been using enough but I couldn’t tolerate more without it actually messing up my makeup.
I work at ulta, and when I had a guy wanting an eye cream, I took him and showed him clinique. He immediately shut down when I picked it up and said no I'm not using that. It was a pink bottle.... talk about fragile masculinity.
I worked at Boots when I was 21 and never bought the no 7 products because I thought they were overrated and too expensive. Then one day a colleague around my age recommended one of the products to me. I'm telling you, 6 years on and I have the BEST skin. Glowing. Nothing I've tried over the years agrees with me like no 7. I find the 'mature' creams too thick, but the early defence range is brilliant.
I agree, my MIL gave me some No 7 a couple of years ago (cosmetics and skincare). Their mascara and concealer are now my HG, and I cannot be without a No 7 night cream. I’ll use cleansers and serums from other brands, and I dip in and out of other brand’s moisturisers for day, but nothing gives me the same plumpness and glow in the morning than using a No 7 cream the night before!
I'm a little annoyed my sister gifted me a no7 skincare set and I'm loving it (the sugar oil free gel moisturisers?). I don't wanna pay 13 quid for 50ml of moisturiser 😅 their muslin cloth is also the softest thing I ever felt on my skin and I can't buy it separate (from the cleanser) either.
I have seen No7 around for years & never felt very compelled to try any of their products. Even after working at Ulta for years & seeing how popular the brand is, especially with middle aged+ people. A few years ago I received their retinol serum as gratis & let it sit under the sink unused for a while. When I finally decided to try it out I was *shocked*. It is awesome! Felt like a dummy for sleeping on it for so long. Have tried other products & they are a bit meh but the regional is A+.
I just left another comment elsewhere, i don't understand why people don't like them! Their serums are great and it's for all skin and not just “mature”. Been using since my 20s. Misconceptions i guess but people should definitely try it!
I absolutely love No7 and have done for years. They introduced a range for skin starting at age 25. That went up to 35 and that range had stronger ingredients, the 45+ had stronger ones again, then the 65+ stronger still. I have used No7 skin care and makeup for years and i always get compliments, for perspective I'm 35 and have been moisturisering since 18 and using anti aging since 25. Their serums, day and night creams, and their cleansing balm are staples to me ❤
I had the same view with No7. It's just the bog standard skin care and makeup targeted towards older people. However, I've been using their tinted moisturiser daily in place of foundation, and its beautiful. Not greasy, very light coverage, and the perfect tone for my very pale pinky skin. The only one I have tried that doesn't make me yellow or sickly looking
I’ve watched this video like 7 times now 😂 My TH-cam put it on loop while I fell asleep last night, I am not complaining because James’ voice is so soothing
I use the no 7 hydraluminous water surge oil free moisturiser and its an absolute favourite for me. I used elemis, dermalogica, the ordinary, the inkey list and so many different brands but when my skin got quite sensitive a year or so ago (while also being combination) I had to strip down how many products I was using and how active they were, and I finally found this moisturiser and it was the only one that didn't irritate my skin and left me feeling hydrated and happy with my skin. There's always deals for no 7 in boots so I stock up lol
I appreciate your clarity when it comes to brands or product categories you don't use. Too often we've been fed this dogma of "I don't like this and you shouldn't either" so it's refreshing to see this awareness that what you don't like or aren't looking for in a product might work for someone else.
Love love love no7! As a kid I thought it was an ‘old person brand’ as mum used it. I started using it in my 20s and love it for a natural look plus they have some good products for my very dry skin
I actually love Pacifica and enjoy their packaging, but to each their own. Their mascaras are quite nice! The price points are great for me and the scents are nice without being too strong.
I want to use them! I'm from oregon, so I love to support local businesses. But lol, my skin on my face is sensitive to fragrance and all of the products I've seen have been potently fragranced! BUTTT!! I'm absolutely OBSESSED with their fragrances lol! I know that sounds so fcking stupid lol! I find their aesthetic to be super cute as well!
I feel your pain with the zero waste products! This isn’t skincare but I find it particularly annoying with toothpaste tabs. I hate throwing away toothpaste tubes but it’s so hard to find tabs that contain fluoride!
No.7 retinol hand cream is amazing!! I will die on this hill. I’m 35 and was starting to notice my hands looking like they were aging faster than the rest of me (I know they do naturally) and starting looking for a targeted product for aging hands. No.7 came to the rescue with their beautiful cream, and a lot of the time there are promotions so it’s under £10 🥰🥰
Boots №7 was founded in 1935 as a skincare brand and in 1937 they branched out into colour cosmetics. Boots is now owned by Alliance, who also own Walgreens.
I'm 35 and recently started using the No7 vitamin C serum, which is for....women ages 35 and up haha! I also think of it as a "mature women" brand (which I guess I am getting close to, help), but saw their vitamin C serum recommended for people with acne as it's more gentle, and I like it so far!
I love their protect & perfect serum, it’s cleared up my skin SO much, I feel like it genuinely makes my skin feel more alive and makes it super super soft! My bf and I both use it daily and at night and we’re in our mid 20’s, he loves it as well and even reminds me to get more every time we’re low.
I was so excited when No. 7 came to the US, because it was the only makeup I could find with a foundation that was light enough for me. I’ve never tried any other products that they make, but I still have great feelings about the brand because of that foundation!!!
Hello. No7 advisor here! Now, I love our brand, I have several favourite products! Yes they are expanding globally too - I swear by our future renew range - developed & researched for 15 years before it was available to purchase, new exclusive technology- pepticology. It’s worth checking out! 😊
Even here in Germany I'd heard good things about No7, both their skincare and makeup and I wish they would sell it here (Don't care if it's targeted toward mature women. The L'Oreal age perfect foundation is really good too ;))
Yeah I worked at Walgreens in the United States for over 5 years and I remember when we first got No. 7 products. I’ve never tried them because it was clear the demographic is for older people and all their marketing reflects that. I’d be interested in any anti aging products they might have for less mature skin but otherwise it’s not on my radar.
Was it the packaging ? Marketing? I've been using some of their serums since my 20s so i don't get how they're targeted toward “mature” people. I guess i don't understand packaging obsessions...
I feel the same way about natural products. Every single product I've used in a bar form was super drying. Also, I am SUPER allergic to lavender and I have found every time I've tried a brand like that, I'm allergic to it even if I got something without lavender in it because the shipping packaging is like soaked in lavender.
No.7 is one of the better inexpensive skin care lines. When I’ve been short on money in the past I’ve used this and it got me through those times without any issues.
No7 are interesting for doing quite a lot of skincare research. I find their marketing a bit insane though, they really try to create hype around their new launches by claiming you have to be on a vip list to get access to them first or something. There products can be £30+ but always have some deal on to make it feel like you are always getting a good deal. I also dislike their packaging, but I have found some of their products to be super effective.
I have been using No 7 Future renew, I’m 38, I have noticed a considerable difference in the hydration of my skin. I would avoid the day cream with SPF as it is greasy and doesn’t absorb into the skin, makes make up look awful.
I like the Pacifica acne cleanser. I have no problem with their packaging. Honestly it's nice to be able to pick it out when most other things are just plain white.
Yeah! I have three bottles from the ordinary sitting on my counter and I can't tell them apart without scrutinizing the label. It's so much easier to grab things that look distinctive. And their acne warrior wash made a huge difference for my fiance
I'm honestly surprised that you included No.7. Their foundation drops (basically to help change the shade of your foundation) have been used by people like Scott Barnes and Makeup by Mario on Kim Kardashian. I am from America and I respect their products.
@@androu98you don't need to comment snarkily on James' behalf. He's a grown up and constructive feedback should be welcome to TH-camrs. In any case, something minor like this, with no ethical overtones, does not require parasocial puppy dog behavior. This is what makes YT creepy.
I'm a New Yorker with highly sensitive skin. I understand James view and reservation towards the products but I one of millions that LOVE the N°7 products...I, for mature skin. For over five years, I literally spent a few thousand dollars with LeMier products until someone introduced me to N°7. I swear, aside from a few Korean Beauty products, N°7 is 💯legit effective on my skin.
Im in ireland and have the same view on no.7 as James. We got coupons in Boots for no.7 when shopping and i refuse to ever buy anything from no.7. I hate everything i tried from their brand. If you want cheap version for it...even Astral creme is better
Honestly have loved some moisturisers from No7 and really rate their foundations and lipsticks!! Would defo be interested to hear a full review from you xx
I had no idea Lumin was a "for men" skincare line! I've been using one of their eye cream/gels for about 5 months now and it's made a good noticeable difference in my under-eye brightness. I do like it, but I've not tried their other products before
My strawberries and cream scented whipped body soap that I use for shaving with is one of my guilty pleasures. It even has a ✨surprise crystal✨ in the centre of it 🙈
Omg...I laughed out loud when graphic for Truly came up with the melons jar..as I have it. I love the scent, its actually quite thick for a whipped looking cream. I have dry skin and it works nice. I use it everywhere because frankly, it it really did what it said...I'd be buying the lot of it and a miracle would happen. LOL As for zero waste products, Kate McLeod lotion stones are WONDERFUL. I like the fact that she says a little goes a long way and they absorb into your skin like a dream. The scents she offers are subtle, my fav being the Naked Stone that smells like coco butter. Thanks for the giggle James and keeping it all in perspective for us
Also, I've found the PERFECT product for Sunscreen over makeup that doesn't ruin the makeup whatsoever- Facial Sunscreen Mists. Privacy UV from Japan makes an excellent one I've been using for years after realizing there was no easy way to appropriately apply SPF powder.
Slightly off topic, I've just finished rebinge watching your insta vs reality series. But you've been such a great role model for me, I think I started watching your videos when I was around 17/18 (turning 22 soon) and you've been such a great example of just a genuine person that truely cares about people just not fucking up their skin and maintaining a healthy self image. I love your transparency with botox and filler and honest opinions on pretty much anything. Truely appreciate your videos have a good one - love from nz
I know its not the most exciting brand but isn't No7 weirdly now at the cutting edge of technology? I remember Protect and Perfect was supposed to be one of the few products that actually worked and was cheap according to a BBC programme (I forget which one). The new range the same, according to independent scientists. 🤷♀️
Came here to agree, their makeup range is a bit all over the place quality wise but their skincare range is known to being one of the best out there. I do agree with you on it not being particularly exciting as it's marketed to older adults, (like me lol!) but as Boots only stock skincare that has been proven to work there's a whole ton of skincare brands to choose from if No7 isn't to your taste.
I just wanted to say that I noticed that the captions on this video are actually accurate, not auto-generated and difficult to understand. That's amazing ❤
My hair hated shampoo bars, sadly. I can't imagine my skin/face would like them, either. Good on them for trying, I guess. But I stay away from bars, just in general.
I love how real you are- just say it as it is!! I do have to disagree with the sunscreen powders- I’ve been using them on my babies and myself for 5 years now (on the face when we go swimming, or anywhere outside while sunny) and we never get sunburned - they really work and I don’t understand while they are getting this lash back lately. I swear by sunscreen powders (my favorite being the supergoop one)
I have used the No.7 serum for a couple of years and did like it a lot. Since 1 year I switched to Korean skincare and 1 Italian brand, Labcare, with amazing results 😊❤
I had the same opinion when I first saw Pacifica, I thought it was targeted at tweens. It didn't help that the store had kept hello kitty nail paint sets really close to the Pacifica stuff.😂
I've used a No7 retinol + matrixyl serum and it's really good, I got it in a surprise bundle with lip products. Boots have their own bobby basic type brand that straight up has the boots name on it, that's now what you were describing as having known, No7 is way more separate now and they have some very hi-tech formulas going on. I actually do use the boots basic brand for their super simple niacinamide moisturizer cuz I don't have any money lol (and I like this one too), the basic brand also does a few retinol things but they don't post the %s which is so-so.
Yes James try the nr7. Im super curios what your opinion of it will be. I enjoy their make up but haven't branch into skincare yet. Some of it is definitely on the more expensive side.
I love how honest you are, James, you own your decisions and you're not afraid to change your mind. I confess to being suckered into the whipped cream products - Smoom has worked wonderfully for me and I've restocked, while the whipped soap I bought from another online store is fun but offers nothing more. I would not expect someone invested in quality skincare to give something so glittery and heavily fragranced a second look. It would be like reviewing the bath bombs you get in gift shops 😂
Would love a comparison of the no7 products with the ones for teenagers they released a few years ago as well as the “ingredients” line they came out with recently as well!
Before my brain could process, I thought I had a dream where I watched this exact video last night. Then I remembered I did watch this video before bed when it was posted and this was reuploaded 😅 thought I was psychic for a second lol
I'm embarrassed to admit i fell for the whipped body butter in a jar craze, couldn't buy just one to test first, no i had to buy a big gift box from Truly beauty and now i have jars of really tough, greasy, hard to spread body butter to use up😣
These always look to me like they’ll never rub in! Also the whipped body soaps are so gross, like ivory soap scent undertone and very greasy but drying!
I totally feel you I bought one last year and couldn’t even get it to rub in so what I did was used a regular sent free lotion and mix it in together and then I can spread it around
What I do with harder body butters is apply it on slightly damp skin, I’ve found it spreads better that way, my skin also seems to absorb it better too. However, I can’t speak on using the whipped body butters so I’m not entirely sure how well that method would work with it.
I didn't realize that No. 7 was a Boots brand. I've gotten a couple of No. 7 products in subscription boxes recently, but I've been hesitant to use them because they give me a "cheap, old school, drying skincare " vibe. I'd be interested in a review to determine if they are worth trying or if I should just give them away.
I guess it’s personal preference or skin type, but I love No.7! You could give one or two a try and see if they work for you? Boots also do a range called Your Good Skin which I love also
@emmassassin9 Good to know! I might try it when I run out of my current products. I just hate to open stuff and then not like it. If I feel like something won't work for me I usually try to gift it to someone else unopened
I only recently considered buying No. 7 products to try. It wasn’t available for me here in the US as a teenager (now in my 30s), or if it was I never saw it anywhere. I’d be interested to hear your take on some of their products before buying. But I totally understand you’re reasoning for not wanting to use them.
I agree about Pacifica, there was a BHA toner I actually really liked that was like blood orange or something and the packaging was purple lmao. But they discontinued it! I felt like it actually helped my skin. Other things I’ve tried just weren’t worth it though. And omg, as much as I love Glow Recipe and think the brand did the packaging and formulations beautifully, I’m so upset with them that it’s hard for me to actually buy anything now because they discontinued the ONLY moisturizer I could find that hit all three of my main musts in a daily moisturizer- hydrated my dry skin for the entire day, kept acne at bay and worked beautifully under makeup. Also, my skin looks so pretty when I use it every single time, it’s like it gives me actual life haha. I searched for years before I found it and realized it was holy grail status for me. Then I went to repurchase after going through two jars and it was just gone. I’m so sad about it that, as much as I love Glow Recipe, I’m so bummed and buying from them just makes me feel upset. I can’t tell you how bad my skin has been since I had to start savoring the rest of my jar and searching for something comparable because it’s hard for me to find a decent moisturizer… let alone the perfect one like the banana was for me! Trust me, I’ve even begged them to bring it back for a trial run because it looks like I’m not the only one who’s upset about it, but they just keep telling me to try the plum moisturizer. Which yeah, it’s nice but it pills like CRAZY on me and as someone who wears a full beat every day, I don’t want my skincare to pill… especially when there’s nothing else even on my skin, it still does it. Like they actually hurt my feelings like no other brand ever has discontinuing this because it was that amazing for what my skin needed and having to start from scratch has been so bad. I have some serious grievances about the banana moisturizer 😭
Try the ordinary nmf + beta glucan moisturizer!! It’s an incredibly hydrating gel formula that is perfect under makeup. And it hasn’t broke out my incredibly acneic prone skin. And don’t be dazed by how cheap it is! I’m an esthetician and incredibly picky with what I put on my skin and this formula is better than most professional brands!
I love ethique shampoo bars & have used them for many years now. It feels nice to at least reduce one products waste. I haven’t found skincare in zero waste that I really like. Especially with really sensitive skin, the cleanser often feel ‘squeaky clean’. Thats generally a sign my skin will get very grumpy.
I keep my skincare & perfumes in the boxes they come in. We travel too much to unbox them. Plus I don't have a problem taking them out to use them. I love The Ordinary's packaging. Simple & it works.
Same! I do this as well for two reasons. Firstly because I know exactly what I'm grabbing when I'm looking for an exact specific product. When you have a few skincare products, they can so easily blend together! And as for my second reason, it may be absolutely absurd, but! To me it keeps my products fresher and more protected. Like from moisture, light, air, the whole nine. I also keep them in cupboards and drawers because I do my face in the bathroom.
Not that it's totally Zero Waste, but several Korean brands I use make solid "serums" which also serve as "balms". I'm particularly fond of the vitamin C ones. My favorites are: CETANA (which is a May Coop brand) Vitamin C Brightening Moisturizer Balm Stick, Missha Vita C Plus Ampoule Balm Stick and Intense Multi Ampoule Balm VITA C. These could very easily be made into Zero Waste products by putting them into recyclable paper packages and are very easy to spread onto one's face. CETANA also makes Multi Balm Moisture Booster "Anti Wrinkle & Moisturizer Balm Stick" and Balance Balm Calming Booster "Anti Acne Balance Tea Tree Balm Stick" that are both in solid form.
Pacifica keeps discontinuing things I like. My skin is very particular, and two of the items that were holy grail for me have been discontinued, despite having great reviews across the board. Now they’re going with very gimmicky marketing and expensive products, all of which that I’ve tried have broken me out.
Personally I could care less about what the packaging looks like. I hate a bunch of crap laying around my counters. I store everything in a cabinet. No worries about dust and other junk getting all over it.
Pacifica has been hit and miss for me, but hit wise the vegan ceramide eye cream is fantastic, so hydration, more like a gel cream - not oily and heavy lol. Honestly though, unless the packaging is exceptional, of which i've yet to find anything that worthy, my skin care stays in a drawer or stuffed on a shelf for practical reasons, not for display value.
I always thought sunscreen powder would be great to set your actual sunscreen with, like you would make up, so it isnt greasy. But ive never had the money to buy some and try it out and see if it would work.
ive had a hit and miss experiance with zero waste skincare, I have a cleansing bar and its amazing, it clears up my skin better than any other brand I've used, I also have a toothpaste from the same brand and it is awful, it tastes horrible and leaves my teeth feeling dirty. I've also used wild deoderent and it does not work, I sweat right through it every day despite their claim that it'll work just as good as an antiperspirant.
I worked for benefit in a boots store for years. No 7 did amazingly well and the profit boots makes on the brand is unreal. The products don’t cost very much to make so yeh, that brand alone keeps the stores going! Because I was really into makeup at the time I saw no7 as frumpy as their makeup was rubbish. BUT I’ve heard they’re really leading the way in terms of technology, so I’m intrigued to try something!
Yes, no7 are doing big things in skincare, cutting edge technology & exclusive pepticology, I work for them & it’s a really great brand. It’s not just for older people either!
I’m with you about No7, I was always like “huh” when I saw reviews of them, because it’s what I remember about them is that they are then in store brand. I am hoping to try it when I go back to the UK.
Boots actually used to own or have a part in Sephora. I watched a vid on Sephora and there rise an hour ago and it was a surprise, there’s a channel on TH-cam called under skin who do vids on makeup and beauty companies there really good
I LOVE Pacifica's body products. They just smell so good and I generally don't like much fragrance. I use their shower gel, scrub, moisturisers and sunscreen. I never consistently used body moisturizer until I started using Pacifica. And their packaging accidentally matches my bathroom decor. They are cheap and vegan/cruelty free. I do want to try to use less plastic in general. I feel like the Ordinary has a bottle recycling program? I've started using more household cleaners that are tablets that you add to water. That might be a possibility with some products like toners and cleansers. Maybe ever serums.
Walgreens literally sells No 7 kits for half off in December as a deal/gift of the week thing every year, along with Soap and Glory. I get an employee discount day as well so I’ll stock up the holiday kits and give them to friends.
love everything you said in this video! My partner uses Lumin religiously 😂 it’s simple but I’m glad he has something he enjoys. I do not touch that charcoal scrub as satisfying as it is, but that moisturizer is amazing. As for Pacifica it’s hit or miss. I love the vanilla vitamin c products sooo much, nothing else has wowed me though. But I don’t mind the packaging. I have to agree with the whipped body cream stuff though. It’s just giving Marshalls, expired products , or like Etsy skincare 😭
Zero waste skincare is something I totally agree with you on. I am pretty conscious of my waste and have got it own really good with cleaning products but skincare just isn’t at that point yet. If someone’s able to make a decent range one day then I’ll totally behind it! Don’t sleep on No7 though! I do agree it’s targeted at a maturer audience but some of their products are really decent!
Dr. Idriss recommended the No7 Protect and Perfect intense serum as an alternative form of Vitamin C from l-absorbic acid and because I’m acne prone, I tried it. I LOVE it. It’s such a pleasure to put on and combined with Paula’s Choice Azelaic acid booster, my skin is looking better than ever.
I feel like Ethique is a company that's heading the right direction. They do a bit of the "natural" schtick, but not to the point that other companies go where they're anti-preservative and things like that. They also have hair and body care concentrates that you can combine with hot water at home to make liquid products. I really hope they start making skincare concentrates too!
@@amandak.4246 I'm not dissing the brand, I love their products. I'm just saying that they do some of the "natural" branding that other zero waste companies do, but it's not to the point where they're anti-science. But they do have stuff like a "free from" list on their website that every "clean" beauty brand has.
In America Boots #7 has always been a Sephora/Ulta or online thing until just a couple of years ago when they started showing up in Walgreens and such.
A lot of people seem to quite like No7; much like Olay it does come across as a "mature" brand. But it also seems to have a lot of..i guess you could call them starter products? Like for young people (like how the very basic oil of olay in the little white container is really meant for when people start skincare in their late teens and early 20s because its not as thicc; while the products that target more mature skin tend to be on the thiccer side) I think, as long as it doesnt have anything that'll irritate your skin, it'd be interesting to see you try them. But only if you're actually interested in doing so. But..yea. everyone ive heard who has tried them seem to quite like them :)
I'd like to see a review of popular European drugstore brands, such as Bioderma, A-derma, Avene, La-Roche Posay, Uriage, SVR... I think they're all French?? They all seem very similar, would be nice to have them compared!
We should really try to move towards completely biodegradable Packaging. By using fruit leathers wax cardboards things like that it's up to the experts to figure out how to do that LOL but I think that that would be the better move because then you won't be able to contain the serums and moisturizers and such but not harm the environment
I have the opposite effects from zero waste skincare. The soap bar, refillable oil serum and toner, so far have been the only skincare that has been able to control my acne post covid. Love the soap bar which has left my skin really soft and smooth. Not sure whether the refillable serum and toner can be considered zero waste though🤭
My partner got me a protect and perfect number 7 gift set (I'm 31 now 😅) and so far so good! The gift set had loads in it! Retinol, exfoliators, concentrates. But nothing compares for me to Clinique moisture surge
I kind of wish there was a brand that did its best to be sustainable without the fearmongering of clean beauty. I remember someone telling me years ago that they wanted almonds covered in milk chocolate, but that they only ever found it covered in dark chocolate.
I agree. I can't do deodorant only. I NEED my aluminum down here in coastal South Carolina! I'd gladly buy an earth friendly packaged antiperspirant.
That is like saying you just want a boyfriend who is tactical, frugal, well educated, caring, and rich.

I love this idea! Even better if it's a collab with Dr. Michelle Wong of LabMuffin Beauty Science!
I second this
Incipedia does this a lot. Her failed attempts with a zero waste sunscreen block were interesting and very eye opening.

I work at ulta, and when I had a guy wanting an eye cream, I took him and showed him clinique. He immediately shut down when I picked it up and said no I'm not using that. It was a pink bottle.... talk about fragile masculinity.
Pink used to be the color of masculinity, especially the royal kind. Power color. *Flexes aggressively*
@maryeckel9682 this guy clearly had no concept of that. He was more open to the literal exact same product but in their men's blue packaging.
his loss, the all about eyes cream goes hard
My sister was able to get my BIL to use the Kiehl's avocado one and he loves it!
I feel bad cause he's missing out on the great eye cream brands out there
I worked at Boots when I was 21 and never bought the no 7 products because I thought they were overrated and too expensive.
I don't wanna pay 13 quid for 50ml of moisturiser 😅 their muslin cloth is also the softest thing I ever felt on my skin and I can't buy it separate (from the cleanser) either.
yes! no7 is my favorite
Their retinol is the only thing of theirs I've ever used and yes, it's awesome.
CeraVe does me for nearly all my other skincare needs 😂
The thing I love about Pacifica is the gaudy packaging. Oh well, I'm perfectly fine knowing I'm tacky af.
I’ve watched this video like 7 times now 😂 My TH-cam put it on loop while I fell asleep last night, I am not complaining because James’ voice is so soothing
I've lost count how many times I've dozed off watching his videos
I use the no 7 hydraluminous water surge oil free moisturiser and its an absolute favourite for me. I used elemis, dermalogica, the ordinary, the inkey list and so many different brands but when my skin got quite sensitive a year or so ago (while also being combination) I had to strip down how many products I was using and how active they were, and I finally found this moisturiser and it was the only one that didn't irritate my skin and left me feeling hydrated and happy with my skin. There's always deals for no 7 in boots so I stock up lol
Me and my mum can’t use anything by No 7 as we have terrible reactions to it. It’s a shame as there are some great offers on it!
They're originally a Boots brand, right?
I !one Pacifica, too
I'm into the sunset colored packaging!
Same! I’ve been using Pacifica for a while now. Works for my skin really well. Super cute packaging!
Me too! The kale cleanser is my all time fav
I think that the Smyle toothpaste Tabs have a fluoride option if you haven’t tried those
No.7 retinol hand cream is amazing!!
Makes sense why they came to Walgreens when they 1st launched in America! ❤ learning something new everyday thks.😊
@@haleyb7304 That's amazing! And great that your boyfriend is caring about his skin too :D
I was so excited when No. 7 came to the US, because it was the only makeup I could find with a foundation that was light enough for me. I’ve never tried any other products that they make, but I still have great feelings about the brand because of that foundation!!!
"Don't cry if I talk [sh*t] about one of your favourite brands, it's fiiiiiiine" hahahaha, love James
i love that you can't stand pacifica's colors! for me it's the opposite, i love color clutter
Me too, the fun packaging made me try Pacifica. Couple dud products but a couple I really like!
Which of the products give you the best hydration?
@@Little_Sidhe the night cream and serum are brilliant
Their peptide night serum is about £8 and lightweight. I love it
I like the Pacifica acne cleanser.
Like he said at the beginning, to each their own :)

I'm a New Yorker with highly sensitive skin. I understand James view and reservation towards the products but I one of millions that LOVE the N°7 products...I, for mature skin. No 7 concealer is really great! Very light wear but still gives a good cover. They’ve become pretty big in Sweden too last years 😃
I had no idea Lumin was a "for men" skincare line! I've been using one of their eye cream/gels for about 5 months now and it's made a good noticeable difference in my under-eye brightness. I do like it, but I've not tried their other products before
P.S. James! Your skin looks flawless in this video😘

A surprise crystal 😂

I know its not the most exciting brand but isn't No7 weirdly now at the cutting edge of technology? I remember Protect and Perfect was supposed to be one of the few products that actually worked and was cheap according to a BBC programme (I forget which one). The new range the same, according to independent scientists. 🤷♀️
No 7 is considered a great product in America
Came here to agree, their makeup range is a bit all over the place quality wise but their skincare range is known to being one of the best out there. I do agree with you on it not being particularly exciting as it's marketed to older adults, (like me lol!) but as Boots only stock skincare that has been proven to work there's a whole ton of skincare brands to choose from if No7 isn't to your taste.
Their BB creams and tinted moisturisers are amazing!
I LOVE Pacifica! I’ve never seen the clean shot products you featured, gonna go look them up so thank you!! 😂❤
I love them too 😂 I was surprised they made this list!
Honestly N°7 is decent. I've used a few of their eyecreams and been impressed.

Definitely here for this, I'm so glad that you choose to not review everything. Just know that I love you and so blessed that I can see your content
I’ve tried Smoom but was really disappointed. I got the Immortelle it just sat heavily on my face 😞
Omg the way James said “it’s fine” gave me a flashback to Ross in friends. I’m fineeeeee, I’m fine! 😂. Xx
I'm embarrassed to admit i fell for the whipped body butter in a jar craze, couldn't buy just one to test first, no i had to buy a big gift box from Truly beauty and now i have jars of really tough, greasy, hard to spread body butter to use up😣
Same thing happened to me 😭
@@infinitecurlie Though the butters were a let down, the serums were nice but definitely won't repurchase 😄
I reviewed a No 7 face wash as a Buzz Agent. I actually liked it. Not the best but decent. I'd definitely use again.
I only have one No7 product, the turquoise vitamin C serum and its super nice!
I loved that banana moisturizer too! Why did they d/c that gem?! Nothing else like it 😢
Love No7 been using their cleansing balm for a while now and it makes my skin feel amazing after use.
I think you’re sleeping on No. 7, James. Their 1% retinol has done amazing things for my skin!
Same here!
Agree. Great brand and it’s great that they’re so accessible!
They are sooooo expensive
@@jessicawilson5908 True, I wait until they go on offer then stock up!
I agree about pasifica except when it comes to the sheet masks. They are really calming and moisturizing.
I hear you about No.7 but their latest Future Renew Damage Reversal stuff is amazing. I would love to see you review it!
Happy Sunday, James! The shirt is absolutely adorable! 💗💜💗💜💗💜💗💜
Pacifica keeps discontinuing things I like. My skin is very particular, and two of the items that were holy grail for me have been discontinued, despite having great reviews across the board. Now they’re going with very gimmicky marketing and expensive products, all of which that I’ve tried have broken me out.
James's skin is next level beautiful in this video 😮
The No 7 serums are very nice. Plus their cc cream has a good color range with different undertones.
Can I say I am more obsessed about the Hello Kitty shirt that the beauty products?
Where can I find it or see how it looks fully?
Personally I could care less about what the packaging looks like. I hate a bunch of crap laying around my counters. I store everything in a cabinet. No worries about dust and other junk getting all over it.
I stopped watching tomorrowland live stream (which I've listened to religiously all weekend) to watch this!!!
Love you James!!!! ❤️
The worst culprit for skincare with gaudy, clashing colours is Trinny London. I CANNOT! 😬💜
I am someone who is drawn in by color on packaging but I agree. I always thought the same thing about Pacifica, it gives me preteen/teenage skin care.
I wouldve felt the same as you about no7 but the new rewind range is really good
I’m with you about No7, I was always like “huh” when I saw reviews of them, because it’s what I remember about them is that they are then in store brand. I am hoping to try it when I go back to the UK.
Boots actually used to own or have a part in Sephora. I watched a vid on Sephora and there rise an hour ago and it was a surprise, there’s a channel on TH-cam called under skin who do vids on makeup and beauty companies there really good
I agree about Pacifica, although i do love their wake up beautiful overnight mask stuff. My over-50 skin wakes up still feeling moisturized
I’ve never tried No7 myself but I work at Ulta and it is VERY popular and looks to still be on the rise
I have used no7 before and think it's been great and helped repair my skin
The new No 7 future renew range is amazing
I love No 7 night time retinol products, they work great.
A lot of people seem to quite like No7; much like Olay it does come across as a "mature" brand. But it also seems to have a lot of..i guess you could call them starter products? Like for young people (like how the very basic oil of olay in the little white container is really meant for when people start skincare in their late teens and early 20s because its not as thicc; while the products that target more mature skin tend to be on the thiccer side)
I think, as long as it doesnt have anything that'll irritate your skin, it'd be interesting to see you try them.
I feel the same about no7 however I've tried a few bits this past year (mascara & makeup removing balm) and genuinely really like them
We should really try to move towards completely biodegradable Packaging. By using fruit leathers wax cardboards things like that it's up to the experts to figure out how to do that LOL but I think that that would be the better move because then you won't be able to contain the serums and moisturizers and such but not harm the environment
I love Pacifica rosemary purify shampoo!! 😊
