I recently picked up a tin of this and really like it. I’m a new pipe smoker, trying to get up to speed with light English blends, which haven’t really been doing it for me. But this… this I like a great deal!
Wilson, you are definitely not exaggerating. Simply Red Cake is simply delightful. I visited the shop on Wednesday and talked to Mr. Q. who seemed very pleased with the way this turned out, and he has every right to be. I’ve only had one bowl so far but I can say this: It is pure comfort. Sutliff being bought by STG throws a wrench in the works, but I’m confident Watch City will continue to produce wonderful Virginia blends. Thanks as always for your reviews. They’re great. Much love. 👊 (Btw, I’m with you on that Old Dominion. Sooo good.)
Thanks for the review! Watch City actually mentions that they age the tobaccos in the Simply Red Cake with Perique before tinning. ("Limited run. Our world famous Red Virginia is kissed with Perique, plressed into crumble cake and aged for a somewhat sweet, tangy and fruity variation on a classic blend!")
Wilson, excellent description in this review. I’m very familiar with Old Dominion and you’ve sold me on this blend. Can’t wait until it arrives! Hm… maybe I should have ordered more. 😂
Hi Wilson, I enjoyed your review of Watch City Red w/ Perique. I'm a retired pastor/ Chaplain and my kids gave me a pipe for my retirement (kind of cute). The grandkids gave me a can of C&D Kajun Kake which I have enjoyed. C&D describe it as "sweet red Virginias and just a touch of Perique". Have you ever tried Kajun Kake? the description is so much like you described Simply Red w/ Perique. Just curious. Chuck aka Chaplain Chuck
Love your channel, so good to see young Reformed ministers preaching the Gospel of Christ! I just have to ask....Is that a Division 2 watch you are wearing?
Great review. My only comment has to do with Sutliff. To date all their blends whether working with someone or making it them selves are on the wet side, and sometimes really wet. I find their crumble cake is on the wet side across all their blends. I think they should make some adjustments in the drying.
@@crossandcopperedc Great question and would be a good video idea. Off my head: 1) The Path to being a Pastor- Jamieson 2) Memoirs of an Ordinary Pastor- Carson 3) Care of Souls- Henkbeil 4) A Puritan Theology- Beeke and Jones 5) Crises of Confidence - Trueman
Have you tried other blends. I got some of there blend Santas sack. Its a vaper, i wished it had a tad more perique in it. Simply orange was oky its a straight Va. I have had it jarred for over a year.

Ordering a copy of that Renihan book on Saturday but I expect it will be on the shelf at the bookstore. Ordering some of that Watch City goodness now.
@@jeremyvis395 enjoy Renihan's book! It is excellent

Wow that description of leaves in the woods really resonates with me. And with that rating, how could I not try it?

Haha no, it's a cheapo watch from Walmart!

Wilson, thank you for bringing this blend to my attention. Like you I love the Vaper blends. The simply red bulk is out of stock 😢

As a fellow pastor what are your top 5 books you would recommend for a young pastor?

im starting to believe that these limited releases are an opportunity to charge inflated prices for tobacco.
@surfrat8884 they do alot of limited releases. All the ones I have bought have not ever been inflated.
@@redraiderreloading7612 $19.00 is a bit high. How many variations of the same basic tobacco do I need? To each his own I guess.

$20 for a 1.5 oz a tin ? Sutliff tobacco has no business being this expensive.
