    What are some of your favorite hidden gem games?

    • @MurrRockstroh
      @MurrRockstroh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This game is one of my favorite Uwe games. It's at least ranked #2, behind maybe Gates of Loyang, if not my favorite of all of his heavier games. You just have to love a worker placement game with a single shared worker between all the players :)

      I have never heard of this one or seen it played in New Zealand. My favourite hidden gem games are - Myrmes, Urban Sprawl, Dos Rios.

      Castell, New Bedford and Spyrium are a few of my hidden gem games.

      Path of Light and Shadow! Played with over 20 different people and everyone loved it. Gotta try it!

      Noria is a hidden gem for me, and to a lesser degree Forum Trajanum. I think at some point you should do a Stefan Feld series as his games are definitely the sort you’d both enjoy (obviously you’ll be familiar with quite a few already but he has some that are not nearly as well known).

    This is among favorite Rosenberg's, it was one of the last games I played with my father. Thanks for covering it.

    It does feel like the least Uwe of the Uwe big-box games. It's there if you look, but it's fainter.

    Ah this is such a tease, I've had it on my wishlist forever and not easy to get. But I love the way it plays! Thanks for covering it!

    This is very under-rated, I had a great time when I played with a friend who has a copy. I wish it was in print so that I could get my own copy!

    Nice to see the sexy new table in play! I'm glad you covered this one. It seems interesting but not Uwe-enough to add to the collection.

    Glad you covered this one! Definitely different, lesser known, and (IMO) underappreciated vs. other Rosenberg big boxes. I enjoy this at three and four, but definitely have to play the long version at three and four (using the additional time tokens on the back of the time board) so that there is time to build up to the higher level contracts.

    Cheers guys, great run through and thoughts. I hadn't played this or gates of loyang. Really looking forward to your run-through of Ora et Labora, one of my favourite Uwe, aside from Feast for Odin and Fields of Arle Tea and Trade

    Well done Monique and Nadeem. Congrats to the cool, calm winner 🙂. Looks like a great game. I love the mechanic where the contracts do not get discarded after fulfillment; interesting concept. Hope this gets reprinted in the future; the game is too “fine” to sail off into gaming history.

  • @jasonfields8548
    @jasonfields8548 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh man, at first I thought this was a rerelease of the game. They were doing that with some of his other titles like: Loyang, Glass Road, Ora et Labora. Wish they would do that for Merkator. It's a hard one to find.

    Nice playthrough and congrats Naveen. I though Monique was going to take as she fullfilled more contracts during the middle game. this might have to be put on my wish list, but the secondary market is a little pricy at this time. Cant wait for the Ora Et Labora playthrough.

    Thanks for the video. Interesting game. My understanding is that the game had some trademark conflicts with the title so it is spelled with a 'k' not a 'c'. So, because of that, the pronunciation of the game changed the 'a' sound to more of a short 'a' instead of a long 'a'? Just curious.

    naveen, if you like dry euros with planning like this, you should definitely try stephen feld's trajan - i love it especially if you play in 2 with someone on about same level, because you are able to usually predict what they will do on their turn (or even several turns)

    It's really weird how Gdansk (Polish "Gdańsk") is called "Danzig" in this game, which is the name used by Germans, while most regions use their English names, except "Bohemia", which is Latin. Yes, Gdansk was occupied by Germans several times, but not at the time this game takes place, as far as I know, and not for many years after or before that.
