    Wow, only 15 months! I wish the judge would have made an example out of her. She deserved more time than this.

    • @engstrum
      @engstrum 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lily blu and she may never serve time given the stay of execution and possibly-successful and definitely prolonged appeal....

    • @lilyblu4577
      @lilyblu4577 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alexander No I'm pretty sure she has to serve 15months by what the judge said @41:40 or so. He said it was a committed sentence so I think she has to serve that.

    • @engstrum
      @engstrum 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lily blu Listen to the judge's ruling on the motion for stay beginning @ 1:01:14 "... I am satisfied that a grant of a stay through the Massachusetts court system only is warranted...while Ms Carter is going to be out on a stay...I have the authority to issue conditions...there will be conditions which will track in large measure the conditions of probation. Violation of any of these conditions could result in the immediate revocation of the stay..."
      My point isn't that she wasn't sentenced as you wrote. I'm just pointing out that she got a stay of execution on the jail time, and there is a good chance of a successful appeal.

    • @lilyblu4577
      @lilyblu4577 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Alexander No, that's what I meant too. Wtf?! I thought she would definitely do the 15 months. I hope you're not right. I don't understand all of the language they use, if ya know what I mean. But for her not to serve some time is just crappy!

      It makes my blood boil. She killed this boy! I don't see any other way to see it... He would have been alive I believe if not for her telling him to get back in the truck! She might as well had a gun in her hand and killed him.

    • @brianna9778

      @@trishan9537 He probably wouldn't have been alive no matter if carter was involved or not, when you are this mentally ill to the point of suicidal idealization, and then attempting once already, it doesn't just go away. Words are not actions.

    • @bobbo0616
      @bobbo0616 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I respectfully disagree. It’s a tragedy for the Carter family to know their daughter was involved in this. She’s alive yes, but she nor her family will have a normal life.

    Involuntary manslaughter involving a juvenile should be treated as an adult case. To me, it doesn't matter if she's young for that level. Her actions are completely unacceptable and still is the cause of the young man's death. 17 years old going on 18. She should have understood that manslaughter is manslaughter. Age shouldn't be an excuse. Once a person is gone, they will never come back. Michelle Carter, in my opinion, should have had a harsh punishment. Having evidence of the text messages between the two is enough evidence. (I'll stop typing before I start ranting)

      Even my 10yr old, ASD2/ADHD/ODD/depression/anxiety has told me he has friends that have talked to him about killings themselves for different reasons and he has told them not to do it, talk to their parents and try and get help cause it will get better when you get older. He has told me he doesn’t believe it, but the point is he knows to say it to someone. Because he has has these feelings himself I have said the same thing to him and also asked him how would he feel if he told someone to do it and they did?. Your telling me that a 17yr old doesn’t have the common sense to tell someone that even if they don’t believe it themselves

    How can anyone call this fair. Is a YOUNG life and time in jail exchangeable for a life lost? I just don't get it. It's sending a strong message that it's quite ok for a young person to coax another person and persevere strongly for them to take their own life. I can't even compute this in my brain. It's wrong on so many levels. Such a ridiculous hand slap. I think the family of Conrad must be livid.

    • @lydiag6245

      Clearly you have never been so mentally ill you were suicid*l. When you get to this point your mind is already made up, nothing will change it. He had already attempted in the year prior, this feeling and type of depression doesnt just go away.

    • @bobbo0616

      I go back and forth on this so many times. Having watched the miniseries, which I assume a lot of the dialogue is based on the actual texts, I feel like she was tired of hearing him talk about it, saying his last goodbyes, then remaining alive as if he was playing on her emotions that she took it upon herself to help him get over the hurdle. What gets me are her texts to friends that Conrad’s missing. Regardless, neither of them were acting rationally on 7/12/14.

    • @nimuzdo3114
      @nimuzdo3114 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. But in the end he was going to take his life with or without her words. Teenages always be saying things like that coaxing or not. Conrad’s parents should be responsible too for not been there in hes life a parent knows when there’s something wrong with there kids if there always involve.

    the stay of execution of sentence argument that words or non-presence is not an aggravating factor just set the bullying argument to the stone ages. influencing a suicide with words or inaction is equivalent to accessory to commit such crime. Failing to render aid with such disregard and an attachment to the situation being a party to the situation can be elevated to manslaughter. I think she got off easy. I think this hurts the true fight for the weak and innocent by those that believe that words cannot destroy. The girl is the new PSA for bullies and what consequences can be for assisting a suicide.

I know of a lady who pleaded guilty to embezzlement of more than $300,00.00 (felony) and was given only 2 or 3 years or something with parole at 2 or 3 years.

I will also like to say its a man who also suffers from mental issues who shot someone and got off for insanity back in 2011 or 12 well this year in 2022 that same man kill my nephew and two others but in total shot six people so maybe they do suffer we all suffering from something as nobody is perfect and all I got out this man killing my nephew is when he commit crimes he now can use his diagnoses to his advantage all he has to say is I dont remember or havent been on meds and blame facility for not having his meds since they also dont want them to be expose for really not taking care of people like him they weigh it out until it dies down and all have went on with their lives and this devil is right back on streets or suppose to be facility that only cares about State checks more problems the person got the more money they get. Stringer Media You’re an idiot. People frantically, aggressively and emphatically text someone to kill themselves every day? Not sure where you’re from, but in most places (if not all) this disgusting premeditated behavior DOES NOT happen. Normal people try to contact someone’s parents or resources when their loved one is suicidal. Not encourage the act, method, and execution of that state of mind just to cold bloodily play the grieving girlfriend at an event afterwards in an effort to make friends and get sympathy and pretend that the suicide surprised you when knowing damn well what happened. So your “unmature” comment is preposterous and obviously you didn’t see the trial or know all the facts of this case.
