Love this aircraft. I remember flying into Atlanta (or out of Atlanta) on one and there was a plane on short final for the runway. The pilots gunned it before we were on the runway and I swear we drifted that turn onto the runway. It was great. I must've flown on MD-88s / -90s at least 50 times in my life. Never had any complaints about the mad dogs. Sad to see them go.
MD-88's are such pretty planes! I'm flying a Delta Airlines MD-88 for the first time in a week to see a concert, and I'm actually excited to fly in a plane model I've never flown in... I usually fly Delta depending on where I go,and they're usually 747 planes I've flown with Delta. This video shows a great representation of this plane :) I wish taxiing in Heathrow airport in England was as quick as this... lol. You're left on the runway waiting for traffic for up to 30 minutes, and that's the airport I fly out from
Lady Sylvanas Go on the Delta website, type your confirmation number in and change your seat to 34E or A! Record the landing and takeoff and upload it 😁
WMS_Jacob If you haven’t already, you should log into your flight on Delta and switch your seats on the -88 to 31A/E or 34A/E. Record the takeoff and landing and upload it on TH-cam! That way, you’ll get the full -88 experience and capture some great footage to share with all of us!!
31 A/E is where I always sit!! I was on one once where we were pretty empty. The FA asked me if I wanted a first class seat. I declined! To me....THIS is first class!
Good gravy, what was your initial climb rate after takeoff? It had to be about 2,000 feet a minute. It looked like you almost went vertical after liftoff.
Most airplanes are about 105 db loud during takeoff and landing but during crusing altitude they are only 85 db loud also in other words during crusing altitude airplane engines are only 5 db quiter than 90 db loud earphones!
Very nice, considering N910DL is 31 years old! Thanks for the great video!! We were on this plane in September 27, 2018 from GRR to ATL. On approach to ATL, we ran into thunderstorms and were put in a holding pattern for a short time before landing. This was a busy time at ATL, you'll be able see all of the planes waiting to depart! I love it when you taxi up and just gun it
I applaud the mechanics who keep these older jets flying! Truly beautiful planes. I felt a g-force as I watched.
I love the MD-88. A beautiful jet that I got to fly on a few times. I'll always remember the good times that never will be forgotten.
I miss the MD-80 series. I loved sitting in the back to hear the engine. American's were my favorite. I'm sad I never got to fly on an MD-90.
Nothing beats the MD-80s.
I recently flew a MD-88 from CLE-ATL and I will say I was impressed! Seats were alot more comfortable than on the 737-800 on my connecting flight!
I wonder if Delta and other air carriers see our favorable comments on the MD-80 series.
R Diaz that sad day has passed

Listen to that B3 musical note from that buzz saw noise!
Extremely satisfying video!! My go to for relaxation
I FREAKIN LOVE THIS SOUND
I flew in one from Portland me to Atlanta...they are rockets. Very aggressive take offs. Seating was cramped and uncomfortable but a hell of a ride
Nothing like a rolling take off then pushing for a full throttle to commit!! ✈️
1:55 The infamous FLY DELTA JETS Sign!!! 😍🤩
That sound!!! Great video..
Enzedel92 Thank you!!
Gotta love the Pratt & Whitney’s grind!
I like the fact that the plane a head of you hadn't even lifted off when you started your take-off roll! 😀
there was a power increase well into the t/o roll!
and by that happening, that’s what gave this video it’s title “High Powered” 🤙
It seems he had A/T engaged but didn't like the roll and just push them to max.
JT8D for life... Flying in a Delta 737-900ER from MCI to ATL and an MD-88 from ATL to TLH this thursday morning... can't wait.

GO MD's !!!
Wow, MD 80's lined up as far the eye can C!
Sad that they're all being retired now.
@@markvolpe2305 Everything is gone except for the 717s. I rode on one last week, so much better than the boring A319/320/321 and 737 Max.
The additional power was him trying to avoid wake turbulence from the traffic just before his turn for T/O
Long live the #Maddog!
Jon Pilot stop I’m crying
this is better than 90% of the music I like
Me too, and I listen to 60’s/70’s/80’s rock!!
Another Mad Dog rocket ship!

It was definitely a lot more than 2,000 FPM. This was a fun flight
Love the mad dog 80
I love this sound oh my god

RIP MD88 😞
I miss the MD-88
You and me both, man!! With a passion!
Space shuttle status.
Flying an MD88 in 2 weeks from CLE-ATL, mixed feelings about flying this old bird
Update: it was a great plane! Pleasantly surprised!
