    I drove a pontoon for the 1st time this 4th of July using your tips. We rented at Conley Bottom on Lake Cumberland in KY. Between your tips and the Amazing staff at CB I was able to drive & doc the boat safely. We stopped multiple times to tie the boat up to swim as we rented the 12person pontoon w/Slide. It was awesome. I had such bad anxiety before vacation because neither myself or my husband have driven a boat. I just want to share my experience in hopes that others can also just take the plunge. We are now both hooked on pontooning and will be doing it again next 4th. Thanks so much for the tips!!!! -Love from Michigan

    Newbie …. Using a rental pontoon coming up. The girls want to go for a responsible leisure ride…. I think I can do this!! We have a Trophy boat … but have not docked much.
    Usually my husband… but these step by step no yelling… I mean speaking very clearly with NO volume attached… makes it a no stress learning moment ☺️
    Thanks !!!

    Man I found this vid awhile back and watched it like 5 or 6 times cause I’m kinda slow BUT I dock my pontoon like a Boss in every situation now.
    I’m confident in any wind with ten boats behind me at the ramp and I kill it every time. People have actually asked me “how did you learn that”. I tell’em youtube 😂

    Thanks Dave for this quick vid. Bought an old pontoon 18 months ago, motor not running, tried some DIY youtube vids with no luck and finally just took it in for repair and service. So after almost two years I have a functioning boat and I couldn't resist taking it out for a quick sea trial. The problem is that this year in AR we've had quite a drought and so I knew water levels would be down. Found a small lake and it looked like the water was down a couple of feet from normal but I made the call that there would be enough water. I was alone. Got the boat launched no prob and needed to get back to the dock to get truck/trailer off the ramp. Had about 8-10 mph of wind and I totally used your tips at about the 4 min point where you get the front of the boat tied up and then reverse to swing the stern around. Worked perfectly! Right up until the stern was about a foot from the dock and I ran out of water and the prop made contact with the mud and a few small rocks!! Ouch! Minor prop damage on my first outing. :( So... your tip and demonstration on the vid was awesome and I nailed it my first attempt! :) But... I learned a valuable lesson about needing to be a better judge about water depth around a dock when water levels are low. :/ Anyway, thought you might enjoy that little story and know that people are still learning from your videos even almost two years later. Thanks again for this video and others! :D

    I’ve been driving our pontoon on our lake over 15 years. This would video would have saved me a lot of bad docking and toon dents. Great job I’m excited to try pinning to the dock but many docks around here are metal so I’ll be looking for dock cushions or wood before I give it a whirl. 👍

    Nice demo, definitely a good tutorial. Would recommend a locking device to secure the outdrive. Hydraulics can fail loosing the ability to maintain the outdrive up and safe. Its an easy added insurance for a secure and safe traveling. Lastly the crossing of the safety chains from trailer to hitch addes a safety catch if trailer un-hitches. Just my 2 cents for added safety and security. Happy safe boating travels.

    Excellent video, I have owned a pontoon boat for fifteen years. All of this advice is good but don't expect it to work as well as it does in this video. The current, wind conditions and size of our motor can greatly effect all of this advice. I remember switching from a pontoon with a 60 hp motor to one with a 200 hp motor. I can tell you the idle speed is dramatically different. If I idle my 200 hp motor up against a dock it better be very well secured. In the wind docking is a crap shoot. His advice is right but in gusty weather the wind changing from 5mph breeze to a 20 mph gust is something you most likely will have trouble with. Don't get me wrong, great video but I can assure you the best boat captains have trouble from time to time.

    So why would you prefer to dock against post on the outside as opposed to the boards. My thought patter is the bumpers yo have hooked on your boat will keep you away from the dock better as opposed to trying to keep a bumper between the boat and a post? Help me understand this I just bought a brand new tritoon and want to protect as much as I can from damage

    • @davebriscoethewakeboardcoa838
      @davebriscoethewakeboardcoa838  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your boat has a rub rail built onto your boat. It is the widest point of the boat and designed to protect the rest of your boat. When you have an exterior post this is what your run rail comes in contact with. So you don’t need fenders in this situation regardless of the height of the water.
