I'd love to have an Australian world, or an Italian one, or Scandinavian. I could pretend that my sim is actually travelling around the world not just changing neighborhoods.

Plus some players buy the packs just for the new worlds, because they look nice or to have extra space for their lots not for the sake of a pack (like me when I bought glitchy eco living just for a new town). In the sims 3 you could purchase extra individual worlds and that was awesome, there was Scandinavian Aurora Springs or Italian Monte Vista or Roaring Heights from the 30s
They did this for Sims 3 and it was so fun. Want a Miami, 1930’s art-deco themed world? Or an Italian countryside? How about a medieval fantasy themed world? All covered!

When my cat died I somehow accidentally added it back into the household as a ghost cat. I couldn’t figure out how to boot it from the household and still keep it as a ghost that comes around sometimes. I don’t even play The Sims 4 anymore because of bugs, but I am still annoyed with myself for doing that. Lol

As someone whose mom adopted me in her 40's. I never got to do anything fun growing up because she was tired or just couldn't. Going to the zoo was like sims on fast mode. You just don't get to do everything you want to.
Honestly, same here! My mum was 17 when she had my sister and she got looked down upon by other mums because she was young. Her and dad did what they could to ensure they gave us the best they could. They're wonderful people and I'm so proud of them!

Yeah same. I build in the Sims 4. Have played the actual game play for only a few hours and that was just because I was thinking of doing a build contest thing and wanted to play test the house before uploading to the gallery. And I also made some families to go in some Rainbow House challenge houses and then got bitterly disappointed that the families go and do things without you controlling them. Like I turned autonomy off for a reason so that only households I actually played would progress. I ended up checking back into one of the house after playing another to find that their pet had run away due to neglect. I'd never played the house. Hadn't even finished building it. Just turned me off gameplay in the Sims 4 totally. What's the point in being able to fill up the whole town with your own created sims if they're going to then go and die or split up or get kids taken away because you loaded up one other house only? Never had that with Sims 2 or Sims 1.

I think we should stop treating TS3 flaws as unconditional ones, meaning just because something was laggy in TS3 it doesn't mean it's gonna be laggy in newer games. It's been more than 10 years since the game came out, just because open worlds and CASt are laggy in TS3 they can still work JUST FINE in games coming out decades later

Agree about the color wheel - my color coordination is shit, I am not a builder or designer, just do it for me! But hair colors, skin colors etc., yeah those should absolutely be color wheel. I love multi-story houses in sims 3. My current house has 5 stories and a basement. 12 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 3 different "game/fun" rooms (including one exercise room. Oh and 3 balconies. Sims 4 I just can't get into it.
The 'two story house problem' is extremely relatable to me and I don't know about you but for me the 'out of sight, out of mind' thing comes from my ADHD, if I don't see something it doesn't exist to me, feel like it's a neurodivergent thing. I also constantly speed up the game because I get bored, like I need more fun shit and less of Sims taking care of their needs lol.
I totally agree with you on the build mode thing! It's always been my favorite thing when playing and it's unbelievable how far it's come. You can really recreate (a version) of any real-life building, especially now with the platforms and free placement of windows. I think I played sims 3 the longest and that really used to be so frustrating. The only thing that's missing is curved walls, but I think that's just a distant dream😶

there are certain expansion packs that just shouldn't NEED to be expansion packs anymore. I understood it back in sims 1 and 2 when the games were new and maybe not as capable of holding as much content, but now it just seems ridiculous. like, cats and dogs should come with base game. who wants to buy a separate pack just to have a pet in a literal life simulator? it doesn't make sense. same with seasons. the base game NEVER feels complete to me without seasons. ik some people can take it or leave it, but it's just not realistic if there's no seasons in the game. it feels incomplete. (I would even have said university in the past, but now that they added the young adult life stage I guess I can give it a pass.. I still think it's unrealistic to go straight from high school to the working adult world tho, even in a life sim). to me, expansion packs should be additional content that adds to the game in an unique way, it shouldn't be things that are mandatory to make the game feel complete. I don't know anyone who goes without buying cats and dogs, seasons, and university even if they don't necessarily care for them, because it just makes sense to have them in the world. tbh EA are just being greedy by continuing to release them as expansions instead of integrating them into the base game, I really don't see an excuse.
I'm totally with you about the color wheel. For skin, yes absolutely needed, but for objects we just need to raise que amount and the quality of the colors/patterns we have (more basics, less tacky).

Oh i definitely disgree with the short lifespan! I am playing a sims 3 legacy challenge on long lifespan right now and i love it?? I get so much time to bond with my sims through all their life stages.
My unpopular opinion is that I love The Sims 4. And I'm speaking as an avid Sims 2 and Sims 3 player and fan. I just love Sims 4 as well. It looks great, it's super fun and quirky and, well ... I have a blast with gameplay (shocker I know). But honestly, today my sim had a baby and then immediately died of laughter at the hospital because someone sent her a funny text. Sims 4 is all about such silliness and I'm here for it!

Sims 4 building is the best building mode 100% real. When I was still playing sims 3 i refused to play with sims 4, untill I saw how the building mode worked. That was the only reason i started playing and buying sims 4
Unpopular opinion: no matter how many sims packs and expansions come out, whether they’re good or bad, the game will always be shit bc the base has too many holes and until they fix it the game just can’t move forward

Sims 4 is improving, little by little, 7 years late, while sims 5 is waiting to give us even less.
I don't like playing with pets either, and I make houses with two stories for the aesthetics, but I don't decorate the top floor and it doesn't exist for my gameplay. I had a teen mom too, and my mom was also 17 when she had me, and she's the strongest woman I know.
Agree about the color wheel - my color coordination is shit, I am not a builder or designer, just do it for me! But hair colors, skin colors etc., yeah those should absolutely be color wheel. Also, young mothers can be so great, and maybe being a young parent wouldn't be so freaking hard if people weren't so freaking judgemental.
Two story houses suck with toddlers cause theyre so slow to climb up snd down stairs that I usually just move to a 1 story house if i want kids and some of the houses designed by EA are also very bad like the mansion in de sol valley >.> not kid friendly
I feel like the two story problem could easily be solved by having a little screen that just shows the second floor (and other floors) and/or clearer feedback from the game

I love multi-story houses in sims 3. My current house has 5 stories and a basement. 12 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 3 different "game/fun" rooms (including one exercise room. Oh and 3 balconies.

The 'two story house problem' is extremely relatable to me and I don't know about you but for me the 'out of sight, out of mind' thing comes from my ADHD, if I don't see something it doesn't exist to me, feel like it's a neurodivergent thing. I also constantly speed up the game because I get bored, like I need more fun shit and less of Sims taking care of their needs lol.

I totally agree with you on the build mode thing! It's always been my favorite thing when playing and it's unbelievable how far it's come. You can really recreate (a version) of any real-life building, especially now with the platforms and free placement of windows. I think I played sims 3 the longest and that really used to be so frustrating. The only thing that's missing is curved walls, but I think that's just a distant dream😶

Agree on the one story house. I also lean toward sim efficiency vs aestetics when I am playing. If I have to pop and extra door in a weird place so the sim doesn’t take the long way around, I will . 😆
there are certain expansion packs that just shouldn't NEED to be expansion packs anymore. I understood it back in sims 1 and 2 when the games were new and maybe not as capable of holding as much content, but now it just seems ridiculous. like, cats and dogs should come with base game. who wants to buy a separate pack just to have a pet in a literal life simulator? it doesn't make sense. same with seasons. the base game NEVER feels complete to me without seasons. ik some people can take it or leave it, but it's just not realistic if there's no seasons in the game. it feels incomplete. (I would even have said university in the past, but now that they added the young adult life stage I guess I can give it a pass.. I still think it's unrealistic to go straight from high school to the working adult world tho, even in a life sim). to me, expansion packs should be additional content that adds to the game in an unique way, it shouldn't be things that are mandatory to make the game feel complete. I don't know anyone who goes without buying cats and dogs, seasons, and university even if they don't necessarily care for them, because it just makes sense to have them in the world. tbh EA are just being greedy by continuing to release them as expansions instead of integrating them into the base game, I really don't see an excuse.
I'm totally with you about the color wheel. For skin, yes absolutely needed, but for objects we just need to raise que amount and the quality of the colors/patterns we have (more basics, less tacky).

I've been on both ends of the young mum/older mum scale - I was a young mum, fell pregnant with my first daughter when I was 17.. she's 28 now and one of the most amazing women I know and I have the honour of being her mumma...I also had my second daughter when I was 36 and she's 11 now and such an amazing soul - 17 years between my 2 bairns !!

My unpopular opinion is that I love The Sims 4. And I'm speaking as an avid Sims 2 and Sims 3 player and fan. I just love Sims 4 as well. It looks great, it's super fun and quirky and, well ... I have a blast with gameplay (shocker I know). But honestly, today my sim had a baby and then immediately died of laughter at the hospital because someone sent her a funny text. Sims 4 is all about such silliness and I'm here for it!
