The lighting in this scene is brilliant with the fire. Showing Anne’s face always through the fire or next to the fire while showing Gilbert’s face covered in the light of the fire. It goes perfectly with her hair, she is the fire, he loves her and loves to be under her light
this whole fuckin scene. Every second, EVERY FRICKIN second, hurts my damn heart. Of all of his classmates he could speak to.. Of all his friends. He went to her. "my future if i want IT" I AM SOBBING the way anne lowered her eyes when he said "permission to propose" "i don't know what to do" now i am drowning in my own tears. He is miserable and as well is anne. But he is just a boy and he already has to deal with business such as proposal... Anne not wanting to ruin his future because of her... The hurt on his face when she says "i don't understand... what's holding you back". He was hoping she would want him to stay because of their bond but she didn't want to ruin his future so she said what she said and i am EXHAUSTED!! Plus the way he looked at her lips afterward i-- and the fact, that music starts playing at this specific moment is just---!! "JUST ONE THING" alone i- Then she realizes everything and basically chokes in her own words. He left HER SPEECHLESS The way he is trying to understand what in the heck is she mumbling and her being so confused How she stutters at the end not knowing what the frick to say, but she is still trying to do something about the situation and finish the sentence but she is drunk for fucks sake!! And the hurt on her face-- When the girls ruin their chance to FUCKIN FINALLY get together Gilbert being left in the back, not understanding anything when Anne gets dragged away... I don't even know what they wanted her to do!! Then again, the hurt on his face. I can see he was trying to figure out what more to say because he didn't want to believe she wouldn't want him after all they've been through. His lips fluttering in confusion and attempt to say something. and in some lighting, you can even notice a tear in his eye Then slowly standing up, the "i'll be off then", admiring her one last time from up to down and the hurtful slow leaving.... Anne knew she should've said something but again, she didn't want to ruin his future. And he was hoping, for the last time, that she would turn around and stop him. They were both so confused. That fire scene is my fav it's so beautiful this show really knows how to make a love story however. Im annoyed at Gilbert cause one minuet! he's like Im not ready for marriage. Then he's like oh Im being offered my dreams so Im ready to marry Winnie. Remember Mary's resounding words "Marry for love, only love." that's what Gilbert needs to do, Anne is so confused she's doubting herself despite being a little tipsy she is trying to understand what's going on. Also Anne's not really been in love before so it's bound to make her question everything. I imagine Gilbert telling Anne I love you not Winnie, I have dreams yes but you are also my dream. Im wondering if you feel the same because I would really like to be able to start courting you. Two more episodes left to go well we know they are going to end on a cliff hanger lol, hopefully all our Shirbert dreams really do come true.

I honestly think this show is speeding up their relationship faster than their timeline in the book and the other series of Anne and Green Gables. They probably don’t intend to run for too many seasons, and if they do, it might be about the war, during their engagement and/or after their marriage. MARK MY WORDS. We shall have an epic closure on episode 10 where Anne finally admits her feelings, except Gilbert probably already proposed and will feel like he can’t take back the proposal, but will cancel the wedding last minute in the next season to be with Anne. Unless she chases him in time to stop the proposal, which I doubt, because she’ll probably be helping Ka’kwet all of next episode 9.
What you're saying makes so much sense but my shirbert heart can't bare it :( something tells me the ship will sail this season, maybe my over-optimistic self is telling me that, BUT, episode 10 is called 'the better feeling of my heart' and captioned 'Anne steps into a new chapter of her life' so maybe, hopefully, with some help from God, Gilbert doesn't actually propose to Winnie in episode 9, probably because he feels the pen that Anne gave him, and episode 10, Gilbert comes back from queens and Anne confesses which is why her heart feels better? maia ! I feel you. I’m gonna be so damn sad for a whole year if they end the season with Gilbert and Anne going their separate ways. The show is so unpredictable tho, which makes me hopeful that things could still turn for the best.
Honestly i felt so sorry for Gilbert on this scene. I know he said that to Anne in a pretty bad moment where she was all drunk, surrounded by her friends and it was too much for her to process in literal seconds, but his face when the girls appeared and took Anne away and the way he said "i'll be off then, goodnight" my heart just- Poor boi later tries to act all chill with Sebastian on the next scene, but he was clearly heartbroken here. If you think about it, he's always thought his love for Anne has been one sided. He's never got a real clue that she feels for him the same way, he desesperately wants her to just say it but it's been countless all the times when she's the one who breaks the eye contact, distances herself from him, avoids talking to him, so any word from her that sounds like rejection or hostility (even if it's not on purpose like in this case) he just interpretates it like a negative :(

Remember Mary's resounding words "Marry for love, only love." that's what Gilbert needs to do, Anne is so confused she's doubting herself despite being a little tipsy she is trying to understand what's going on. Also Anne's not really been in love before so it's bound to make her question everything. I imagine Gilbert telling Anne I love you not Winnie, I have dreams yes but you are also my dream. Im wondering if you feel the same because I would really like to be able to start courting you. Two more episodes left to go well we know they are going to end on a cliff hanger lol, hopefully all our Shirbert dreams really do come true.

I honestly think this show is speeding up their relationship faster than their timeline in the book and the other series of Anne and Green Gables. They probably don’t intend to run for too many seasons, and if they do, it might be about the war, during their engagement and/or after their marriage.
MARK MY WORDS. We shall have an epic closure on episode 10 where Anne finally admits her feelings, except Gilbert probably already proposed and will feel like he can’t take back the proposal, but will cancel the wedding last minute in the next season to be with Anne. Unless she chases him in time to stop the proposal, which I doubt, because she’ll probably be helping Ka’kwet all of next episode 9.

What you're saying makes so much sense but my shirbert heart can't bare it :( something tells me the ship will sail this season, maybe my over-optimistic self is telling me that, BUT, episode 10 is called 'the better feeling of my heart' and captioned 'Anne steps into a new chapter of her life' so maybe, hopefully, with some help from God, Gilbert doesn't actually propose to Winnie in episode 9, probably because he feels the pen that Anne gave him, and episode 10, Gilbert comes back from queens and Anne confesses which is why her heart feels better? Or maybe I should stop rambling because that will never happen and I just want my ship to sail lol. remains to be seen ;-;
maia ! I feel you. I’m gonna be so damn sad for a whole year if they end the season with Gilbert and Anne going their separate ways. The show is so unpredictable tho, which makes me hopeful that things could still turn for the best.

Honestly i felt so sorry for Gilbert on this scene. I know he said that to Anne in a pretty bad moment where she was all drunk, surrounded by her friends and it was too much for her to process in literal seconds, but his face when the girls appeared and took Anne away and the way he said "i'll be off then, goodnight" my heart just-
Poor boi later tries to act all chill with Sebastian on the next scene, but he was clearly heartbroken here. If you think about it, he's always thought his love for Anne has been one sided. He's never got a real clue that she feels for him the same way, he desesperately wants her to just say it but it's been countless all the times when she's the one who breaks the eye contact, distances herself from him, avoids talking to him, so any word from her that sounds like rejection or hostility (even if it's not on purpose like in this case) he just interpretates it like a negative :(

I’m pretty sure Anne understood what Gilbert was trying to say, Gilbert was trying to let Anne answer and say if she has the same love for him. Even if Anne wasn’t drunk she wouldn’t know what to really answer with because she was still trying to figure out her love for Gilbert. Gilbert probably assumed that Anne doesn’t like him and just thinks him as a friend. I felt bad for Gilbert at this scene because he thought Anne didn’t like him, I’m not saying that she knows that she likes him and doesn’t know what to say but still yea.
