Just been into my local dealers to ask about lead time and price on the KLX300 to be told not available in Scotland/UK, which is why I'm on this forum, this socks really bad, I don't need abs on a bike, never had it, not in 40 years of biking, got to hate all this crappy legislation. So Kawasaki if your reading this get the KMX300 to Scotland, PLEASE.

Not going to happen with emissions etc unfortunately

Damn that sucks. Here in the ACT we get half price rego for bikes under 300cc. This bike would probably have been my next bike if it was here in Aus :(

Finally, an answer! I've been looking and the only new bike i can get in the uk is the honda crf. More money for them, especially if the other brands can't be bothered to make the necessary mods

  • @pinkiewerewolf

I bought one of the first run here in the States and the dealers can't keep the KLX300S or SM in the dealerships.
Maybe once the Honda CRF300L and Rally show up it might slow the roll on the KLX's but they are hot right now.
The lil KLX's don't need abs brakes. Legislators need to get their heads out of their arses. These are lightweight low displacement dual sport bikes. When will the insanity stop?

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I think the 300L's will sell just as fast, there is a thirst for these bikes ATM. How do you find the bike?

    • @pinkiewerewolf

      @@onthebackwheel I'm enjoying it... a lot.
To set the stage for my opinion of the KLX 300 I come from BIG Road bikes, Kawasaki ZZR1200, Harley Ultra Classic, and a KLR 650.
I ride a thousand mile loop every other week so big bikes are mile munchers on the paved roads. But, I've been seeing the practicality of smaller bikes lately, for everyday use. I bought a Iron 883 and almost a year later I bought this KLX300S.
These two bikes fit the bill for what I wanted them to do perfectly, agile around town and shorter runs, easier to push around the garage, and more fun to ride solo which is 99% of my riding. I'm finding the off-road areas but I need to get the appropriate stickers to hit those trails.
The KLX is nimble and the engine is getting better as I'm putting miles on it. Day one, it was kinda stiff? I dunno, but it is loosening up and running better as I'm allowing myself to give it more RPMs. I've taken it to 70MPH for a short run and I'll run with the 55MPH traffic on the backroads, which is about 55-65 MPH. I love the bike's ergos, but I've bought some IMS footpegs which are wider and bigger all around.
I think it will benefit from a tuner and full exhaust as I find myself looking for 7th gear. The ratio between 5th and 6th doesn't seem like that much of a difference.
Throttle response is smooth and without interruption. braking is adequate. Not astoundingly fast or harsh.
Its a keeper. I probably won't keep the KLR and the Iron 883, because I'm eyeing the Tiger 900 Rally but I don't see a desire to ever have to upgrade the 300 to a different bike.

  • @bigwangmark

Still no sign of it in 2022. Shame as I like the range but the KLX250 is now way underpowered compared to even the smaller klx230 which is a bit of a joke now. Kinda hands the market to honda and the CRF300L.

Damn. Someone else suggested that Kawasaki simply classify it as an Enduro bike to sort of make it under the radar. Maybe they could make up a cool looking batch of Enduro stickers for the bikes to help with the issue. It’s a real shame as the comparable Honda CRF300L is typically a couple thousand more $$ in the part of the world I live. I’m pretty much set on the 300L as an option so it looks like the Honda or the Honda for me. Honda must be laughing about this matter.
