Hey Chuck! This was great seeing some of your collection. One thing about a physical format it helps us to connect to memories and emotions, as with your bother, so sorry for your loss. That connection with streaming and downloads just isn't easy to make for me. Your collection is amazing, so many great artists and records. You have definitely given me some I'm going to need to look into and sparked interest of others I know and have in the collection but haven't listened to in a long time. You showed a Mike Cross record and said you weren't familiar, but like it. Cross was a popular regional artist here in the Southeast. He played the clubs, bluegrass festivals, and theaters mostly in the 1970s through the 90s and put out a number of albums, some of which were on Sugar Hill. He was usually solo, playing guitar and fiddle, a lot like what John Hartford did live. He even had a regional hit on the AOR rock stations around here. He never broke nationally but did get an appearance on The Smothers Brothers Hour TV show when they revived the show back some time in the 70s or 80s for a few episodes, and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band covered one of his originals that might have been a minor hit. The last I heard he was going thorough some major health issues and hasn't played in public for at least a decade or more. Any time you see one of his albums get it, they are all good, often humorous and always high quality. They are in abundance around here in NC but I'm sure the pop up much less when crate digging in other parts of the country. Take care my friend, Elliott

@@elliottcrews4997 Hey there, Elliot. Thanks so much for stopping by and chiming in. Thanks for your condolences as well. Totally agree about memories being tied to items and that's been a huge relief. I do stream a lot as well, in the car and at work. But it's never the same. What a great comment and thank you for tuning in. Be sure to catch part two of this video on my channel there, where I show some of the regional stuff from my area.
Love your commentary on Mike Cross. Sounds right up my alley indeed and glad to have grabbed that one. I remember enjoying it a lot but I'll have to give it a few more spins tonight on your recommendation. Thanks so much for taking the time to put that write-up there. I'm too lazy to do the research myself and that's what I live about your channel. Thanks again and keep an eye out for the CD and cassette installment of this series, coming in the next few weeks... hopefully. Cheers, neighbor.

@@JoeWilliamsonjr Thanks for tuning in, Joe! You were pretty much the first one to leave me a comment when I jumped on here and your feedback is well regarded. Thanks for coming by again. Love those labels as well, although probably not as familiar as some of you guys. Love the booklets that come with the folkways stuff. It's really fun to read along as you listen. I'll probably be showing some more folkways in my next video eventually here. Also a fan of Rounder, Sugar Hill, and Flying Fish labels. Til next time there, fella. Cheers.

Hey there, Glen! Thanks so much for chiming in and for your condolences. Sorry to hear about your cousin as well. I hope you've been able to bounce back as much as possible. For me, the first year was extremely tough but now, entering the third year, the memories burn bright and the flame is flickering, so to speak. I hope the same for you and anyone facing loss of such magnitude.
Yes. Pete was an absolute treasure. The way he traveled the world and collected all the songs in his head is spectacular. Loved Ed Norton's portrayal in the movie too!
What a time you lived in to be able to see Doc and Merle, meet Hatford and all that. Super cool. I'm far too young to have seen either. I only discovered Doc sometime before his death a number of years ago. That old Doc & Dawg CD is what turned me on there.
It sounds like we have a lot of the same favorites and indeed I did see your banjo playing on the other channel there. Just fantastic, Glen. You are really good! Your 50 years on the ol' fiver definitely show. Enjoyed that tremendously.
Thanks again so much for all of your great feedback here. Currently, I'll have to pass on live streaming and all that. I don't know how I'd feel being put on the spot like that. I appreciate that idea and I love our mutual interests. I kinda talked a little bit about this previously on my channel here... about not being one to take the spotlight too much or whatever. I'm generally more of an observer. But maybe I'll keep it in mind on down the road.
It's been a busy few weeks but I sure do intend to reconnect and get another video up here soon, as well as catch up on all your awesome uploads lately. Til then, thanks so much, Glen.

Great video, Chuck! Enjoyed your passion for the bluegrass! The punk rock of country strings in my opinion 🎻🎸🎶
    Old Crow medicine show, awesome!
Goddamn Gallows really enjoy that band too. My favorite song of theirs is “y’all motherfuckers need Jesus”! Sorry to hear about your brother man. One of my personal philosophies is life is and can be extremely beautifully, wonderfully fucked up. Music helps ✌️

@@RussShawTV Solid! Thanks so much dude. What a hell of a comment and thank you! Couldn't agree more about punk and country strings. Grew up on both and it's cool to see so many bands nowadays bringing those sounds together. Goddamn Gallows are great. I'm pretty late to the train on that band but, in addition to your selection, I also love their song - 20/20 - a punk tune with kickass instrumentation and a great mandolin part. Thanks so much for your condolences and philosophies. Happy Saturday!
