This man did all the dirty work in the teams he played. At one point of time he worked as a janitor. Never complained one bit. He played with full intensity, heart, spirit, he battled for the half balls, the loose balls, even when it seem that the cause was lost, he pushed himself, threw himself, put his body on the line just to keep his team in the game, battling for points, rebounds like no other. He did all the dirty work that no one else wanted to, workout like hell in the gym, keeping himself in top shape up to 4am in the night when people are in bed sleeping. Who does that?? People can say this and that about Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, Lebron and what not being the best of the best.....but tell me who among them was willing to put their body on the line to keep the team in the game, mopping/sweeping up play, doing all the dirty work game-in game-out, doing defensive shutdowns on teams, rebounding stats like no other and at the same time score points on the board when it mattered??? None of them could do that except this man right here, Dennis Rodman. He changed the game, mastered the art of rebounding, psychological 1-to-1 gameplay, mental games and defensive shutdowns like no other. On the court, the man fought, battled like hell for the team just to give them the edge and come out on top. A true warrior on the court. He is Unique.
Not many humans would share their hard life or admit how wrong you've did in life. But when you can confess to the world your mistakes with dignity you redefine what it is to be a human being. Congrats Dennis! Props to his mom and wife for being there. :-)
Now that is a Real man that admits to his mistakes and own up to them! Dennis Rodman i salute you my brother! Congrats & continued success with your future endeavors🙏🙏👍
This is the only NBA or NFL HOFer whose speech I’ve seen more than 3x and I keep watching it. It was classic and selfless and authentic. This was the perfect hall of fame speech ever said by man. Thank you Dennis Rodman for this gem. You are a world icon who I feel want nothing more than to show whet beauty bringing people together is- because that’s what’s made you happy. And the good lord up above is happy you did.
The honesty Rodman told in this speech is more humble than anyone could ask for. Even made me emotional when he said I regret not being a better father. As a father myself I feel that pain as well.
No matter what people think about him the man wore his heart on his sleeve on the basketball court, was a great teammate, hard worker, unselfish, and played for the right reasons.
I’m here because of THE LAST DANCE. Haven’t seen Rodman’s speech in a long time and this still made me cry. Seriously probably one of the best HOF speeches ever by anyone in any sport.
Damn...Dennis Rodman gave his life to the game of basketball. He partied quite a bit but nonetheless the best bonds he created in his life were because of the game of basketball. Respect.
The best HOF intro speech I've ever heard. A speech from the heart. A vision of life beyond basketball. Defining the why behind the what. I have a better understanding of a colorful star, although I may never truly understand him.
This just shows that Dennis has a heart of gold and that he appreciates the relationships he's formed more then being in the HOF. He's a true man to be able to get in front of the world and talk about his mistakes and regrets. Much respect Dennis, take care brother.
Oh my! I am lying in bed watching this and I realize I'm crying. Here's somebody who sees himself for who he really is and is absolutely incapable and unwilling of trying to cover any of it up. He doesn't care what anybody thinks about him and I think he's one of the few human beings I've ever known who seems absolutely free of any pretence whatsoever. I hope he found and finds some balance in his life while not giving up the man he wants to be.
This Beautiful Soul Is Proof That You Can Be Rich, Beautiful, The Strongest Person On The Planet But Still Full Of Pain. But We Want To Know We Love You ❤
Regardless of how you feel about Dennis as a person, he was a dedicated basketball player and he deserves to be in the HOF. I enjoyed watching him play as a kid. Thank you Dennis for your contributions.
Dennis a a true person, only need someone to lookup on him..a pure hearted basketball gangsta, props to you Mr.rodman, wish we would see another kind of you in our time.😎
The emotional fortitude to give this speech is impressive. He’s quite the man. Getting into the peak of something, and while being celebrated what’s on your mind is where you could’ve done better ( in this case, bring a husband, father & son) is inspiring. It makes complete sense now why after games he’d work out for 1-2 hours. His mentality to do better in all aspects is something is most people could benefit from.
I have wstch a few hall of fame speeches but this speech made me cry. The family from Oklahoma who took him in. The four father figures including Phil Jackson who showed him more love than his own family. Thank you. His mother and wife who forgave him. Thank you. And finally last, but not least to Rodman who with humility admitted his mistakes but acknowledged and thanked the people who truly loved him. Thank you. Very humbling speech.
Dennis is one of the best EVER. When he played, he gave you everything he had, and then some. A real, true, legend of the game, and in my opinion, a good, decent, and humble man. Love you Dennis. You earned this and deserve it.✌❤
Dennis Rodman is a great player and very emotional person when he revealed his hardship in life before became famous in basketball,,, a well deserved for Dennis Rodman
I thought Rodman was gutsy on the court, but this speech from the heart was even more gutsy and sincere. I can relate to Rodman on so many levels. Mostly the low ones. While some might take his tearfulness as weakness; his opening up like this to the world to reveal his shortcomings and not brag at an event meant to honor his achievements was brave. What I see is a guy who took a scary situation (being a homeless teen), used his God given gifts, worked his tail off to have a secure life,, and achieve success. I used to see him years ago and wonder why Carmen Electra and Madonna were all chasing him because I thought he was crazy. Now that I’m older and wiser I get it. The dude was as real and sincere as it gets. Women love that in a partner. This is the kind of person I would want as a brother and a friend. God Bless you Denise. Enjoy that beautiful family of yours, and I hope you reconnected with your mom.
Phill was like father figure to many players, but i think, he covered Dennis under his wings, because he knew that he was missing his father and care, and that made Dennis a great great player, a missing puzzle in a Bulls game
Dennis Rodman was like the singer Prince of the NBA I really study his game me at 5-10 I got a lotta rebounds for my size coach switch my position from shooting guard to forward cause I rebounded so good
Truly amazing hard to watch speech. Its remarkable that a guy with that many obvious issues is able to function, let alone be the player he was on the floor. You have to feel for a guy who must have endured one crappy childhood to be that messed up. It makes me realize that he had to overcome so much to play basketball. Chuck Daly and Phil Jackson must have really had their hands full. I cant imagine what it must have been like, knowing that the best defender in the league, and best rebounder was a total mental case. (I dont mean that in a cruel way) I was a Pistons fan, and I loved the guy. It gives one hope that someone with his obvious background could strive to win 5 rings. Truly remarkable they gave him the opportunity to play in Chicago.
I actually have a Dennis Rodman story. In the 90s I was part of a two-man video crew that worked for BET in Chicago. You look at my picture and wonder how that could be, but through strange circumstances it was. The Bulls had won yet another championship and this night was a celebration for Dennis. The club was two stories, huge and crammed to the walls with partying people. Very loud. My job was to video Dennis walking through the door on the 2nd floor. He was supposed to arrive at about 10:30. 10:30 happened, then 11, then midnight...still no Dennis. The crowd had been absolutely alive from the time I arrived and nobody left. Every so often a guy would get on the PA and yell, hang in there folks, Dennis is coming!!! And every time the crowd would cheer wildly. Finally just before 1:00AM Dennis arrives in a limo and the PA guy screams, DENNIS IS HERE!!! The screaming is ear shredding and I'm alerted by the producer that Dennis will be coming through the door at any moment. At the last minute I decide to not stand and get the shot of Dennis, but to lie in my back and let him walk past me, to get a larger than life shot. The moment he walked through the door the place exploded! Dennis was in his usual resplendent and flamboyant way wearing a floor-length fur coat, huge tophat, tunza bling, lip and nose rings with the multicolored hair and...you know...Dennis Rodman! That was the only shot I needed to get, so I was able to put my camera down and join the party. Very fun memory of a crazy fun night.
Dennis Rodman is amazing!!! i hope i run into you someday. i remember this. the badboys...lambeer..dumars...rodman...thomas.....and i was a lakers fan!!!! lambeer always had a blackeye!!! Rodman was always scrappin!!!
I Idolized Dennis Rodman not just being Badass inside the Court but being a good person. I know he's dad was from the philipines which my country is. Dennis just missed the love and care of his legitimate Dad. My heart goes for Dennis as he regrets and longing for his Dad love and care throughout his successful career in the NBA

Dennis, there is no doubt you had a HOF career most can only dream of, and it is only proper you forever will be among the game's best, but there was a period it appeared you had no interest in giving back to the game, like most of the greats you are now immortalized with, that has given you so much. It was hard to route for you, and to some- your past off the court will over-shadow your great achievements on it, but the game, and peers have given you a gift-- to bow out like the champ you are.

Yeah, Dennis was amazing at defense and grabbing rebounds, he was an exciting player to watch
Rebound leader from 91' till 98' not bad for a 6'7 forward
Like no other, but Wilt
This man always make me cry he was always dedicated on those steals and assist no one could step in his shoes and those rebounds were beyond
