The Nile IS the longest river and the Canary Archipelago has eight main islands (Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa) but includes many smaller islands and islets: Alegranza, Isla de Lobos, Montaña Clara, Roque del Oeste and Roque del. Este. The question was unfair. And the "Middle East" essentially supplanted "Near East" in the early 20th century, although the two are now used interchangeably among English speakers. Basically the Middle East and Near East refer to the same region when used today. Actually Gaet'ale Pond in Ethiopia is the saltiest lake in the world - Don Juan Pond in Antarctica is second. So a score of 29 with some lucky guessing.

The Amazon River that rises in Peru and flows into Brazil is longer than the Nile River in Africa in recent discoveries and new measurements. And this new concept of a longer river with a greater volume of water is also approved by the international community.
