    So this 4th video was kind of an accident! Originally not meant for this particular series i realised after filming Video 3 that THIS video was the perfect followup! You know the basics. You know the parts and programs! Now lets talk about the common errors and failure points when you go to start that first layer!
    Here is the entire series so far!

    Idk how to express how helpful the baby z step portion of this was. I’m using a glass bed that seems to be warped because the corners are even but the middle sits lower. I used baby z step for the entire first layer of a boba fett helmet and it changed the game. Couldn’t get the print started before. Thank you once again for a brilliant tutorial.

    I'll definitely be using this guide for my first printer. It's such a valuable guide and easy to understand. Thanks!
    For anyone trying to get into the space, or any space, watch as many TH-cam videos on the subject as possible. In my experience, the more you acclimate to the information you're receiving, the more comfortable you'll feel. See what information keeps sticking out and let it stick with you. I watched videos for years on building/upgrading computers before I actually went out and did it, which gave me the skillset required to build/upgrade my first computer with no issues, so I highly recommend this method if you have the patience.

    What a great video Frank. I wish I seen this when I was starting out. Everything that you said I had to learn on my own or got some help from my Facebook group for creality printers.
    I'd like to add when cleaning my bed I wash it with Dawn dish detergent first the ones I wipe it clean then I use the rubbing alcohol at least 90 proof.
    As far as using the disabled stepper program I do that every time I level my bed. Then once it's leveled I autohome it. I have never had an issue.
    I've only been in this roughly a little over two months and there's other people from our group asking me how I get my print so smooth.
    One of the things I must say is a must upgrade from the get-go would have saved me a lot of heartache. Is to switch to a Capricorn Bowden tube from the beginning. I was at a point where I was changing nozzles almost every print and a half. Had major clogging issues until I change that too. Now I can't tell you when the last time I changed the nozzle. Everything's just running so much smoother.
    I'll forward this video to our group page for all the new guys that just joined.

    15:00 After I cut at a 45° I like to then clip a tiny piece of the point off. For some reason I've found that the point causes the filament to jam when inserting; however, if you nip that a little you'll almost never have issues 🤘🤘

    I usually have the exact opposite from you as far as the bed. I've used that textured bed on 5 different printers and could never get any plastic to stick. I just got a couple ender 3 pro's and flipped the textured glass bed over and put a magnetic sheet on it and used the smooth side with a liquid I got on amazon that pla sticks to like none other. It's nice because it washed off with soap and water. I'd love to show you my setup if you're interested

    I have a couple trouble shooting issues on my Ender 5 Plus that I have not been able to resolve. For the most part, my prints are looking pretty good, with the exception of the layers that are completely flat, or parallel to the bed, those layers almost always look slightly burned, but not to the point of getting dark, but there is definitely some discoloration happening. Also, last night I printed a 55 gallon drum that I found on thingiverse. The outside looks good, but not perfect, but the real issues are the floor of the drum (inside) has the issue I just explained, and also, the inside walls have a lot of stringing. That stringing is not to the point of causing any structural issues, but it is very easily noticeable. My bed leveling is almost perfect with my numbers all being 0.0XXX. Bed adhesion is flawless since upgrading to a Wham Bam PEI build surface.

    Pro tip: Johnson & Johnson baby oil applied to your filament (PLA & PETG only) with nozzle @ 207°C & 260 C°.as the mineral oil bonds to your filament you will see a two tone colors and swirls depending on the color(s) and manufacturers. Other than morphed color schemes, the oil allows the filament to have flex/elasticity.

    I’ve wanted to get into 3D printing for like 5 years now but it always seemed too expensive to just jump into, but after watching a ton of your channel and a bunch of other videos and doing research I ordered an Ender 3 last night! I chose that one cause it works best for me price wise, and I feel like I would rather learn how to make it better than just dump money on a better one right away. Like I already ordered a metal extruder and the better bowden tube based on your recommendations. I can’t wait to be able to print whatever nerd shit I want 😂

    • @The_Ladder_Perspective
      @The_Ladder_Perspective 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would u recommend?

    • @jakewaitart9507
      @jakewaitart9507 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The_Ladder_Perspective hi! yes I would, there’s definitely a steep learning curve so do your research before hand but over the last 10 months I’ve printed a lot of stuff and like BIG stuff too, just in pieces. And it was great to learn how everything works on a more bare bones printer, so I could figure out what upgrades to prioritize. Like the first thing I did after a couple days of owning it was order the silent motherboard. And it wasn’t until a couple days later when my prints were all still failing, and being smushed vertically, did I realize I just completely missed a screw when assembling the printer day 1 and it was still in the box. Now, after dealing with a few blowouts of my bowden tube hot end (even though it worked great for months), I’m looking at upgrading to a direct drive. So much of the fun is in the troubleshooting and the customizing, and that’s why it comes down to what you want out of it. Maybe none of that sounded fun to you lol
      Bottom line, for the cost as an entry point to 3D printing, it was worth it for me, especially because it made me feel like I could afford a couple rolls of filament to start with and the upgrade parts I already new I wanted from my research. (Also huge tip: don’t bother with the creality brand PLA filament. They had a nice deal for two rolls for like 30$, gave me nothing but problems for anything more complex than a vase, I pretty exclusively use overture pla/pla+ now)

    This is awesome information! I want to add do NOT clean the Creality carbon and silicone coated black bed with anything other than a little water and a clean cloth. I followed other TH-camrs using alcohol and window cleaner which is fine for normal glass beds but it destroyed the coating in the middle of my bed in less than a week. Good news is they are not expensive to replace. Also with these beds you have to wait for them to cool down so the print automatically pops off of the bed. The manual had no info about this. Happy printing everyone.

      So for the Creality CR 10S Pro V2 it would just need water and a clean cloth? I am new to this and was wondering if the Isopropyl alcohol is needed for it?

      I have to slightly disagree on that. I’ve been cleaning all 8 of my printers half with ultrabase and half with the textured sticker with isopropyl and they’ve been fine for months :/ weird

    Awesome video, i have a CR10S myself but for some reason i'm missing the 'level corners' option in the prepare menu. I just have the stock firmware running on it that came with it from the factory i guess. I believe it is version 1.1.6. Did you upgrade the firmware to get this option?

    • @FranklyBuilt
      @FranklyBuilt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I did. But you can just do it manually like the ender

    I just got my printer set up, andam trying to Otterbein the bed and am having a really hard time. I understate the spring system but it dies not seem to be working. During infestation we had to remove the round silver gear that that twists around the metal rod. I need to know how many mm that piece should be up the silver sold rod it tightens onto.
