The backhoe attachment for our 743b Bobcat, nicknamed the Hobcat, needs to be replaced as it has been hemorrhaging hydraulic oil every time its in use. We decided to run to town, so Greg took a quick minute to take the failed hose off so we can get a replacement made to get our machine running without leaving a pool of "dust control" anywhere it has been put to work.
We have more repairs planned for the backhoe in the near future, as well as some repairs and quality of life upgrades in the works for the 743b unit. More videos planned of putting the Hobcat to work on the farm, and using the backhoe to stump and clear pastures and fence lines, a how to operate the units is also planned.

You're so smart. Is there anything you don't know how to do? You're the Canadian McGuiver. Hope all the lambs are doing better.

Lambs all seem to be stable right now, Happy the bloaty lamb has been touch and go. We seem to have her stabilized right now, but she is now on IV fluids and restricted movement (this is almost impossible for a lamb,) and restricted on putting anything in her mouth until her intestines can get a break and heal enough to handle food and water.

What a gorgeous view of the forest, mountains, snow, etc. Do you have any problems with wildlife coming after your sheep? Any bears, cougars, badgers etc??

Cougars are about 1 mile towards that mountain from our south property line, never have bothered us yet, there has a been sightings of wolves in that same area, but depends on health of the packs feed up there. Bears are common, we have one or two, they don’t bother us as we have easier feed for them to scavenge on (mostly berries and neighbors have garbage out they get into,) badgers aren’t a problem, there is one or two that have been noted in the area, coyotes are our greatest nemesis and threat to the sheep

@@whistlingwindranch1832 Wow thank you for answering me. We have really bad problems with coyotes as well. Two days ago I was within ten yards from coyote in broad daylight. The dogs were going crazy. They jump fences well over 7 feet high and often break in through doggy doors and eat the pets inside. They're very intelligent.

@@runninggreywolf8313 they are extremely smart, we have a pair of livestock guardians dogs that set a perimeter around our farm and really try to prevent coyote territory from getting too close to the flock. The problem is coyotes will have larger litters when feed sources are good, so when the feed sources decline from either not enough road kill being dumped, ranchers not disposing of cattle carcasses, or destruction/habitation of their territory they start pushing into our farm area as there are too many of them for what’s available to eat. We have a pretty good symbiosis with 2 packs, but often we have others moving in from way south, on that hill in this video, that don’t respect the balance and unfortunately need to be removed before they are killed by the existing packs (or our big dogs) or starve, or keep moving north to very populated areas and go after cats, dogs, hikers or children.

@@whistlingwindranch1832 I pray you keep your stock safe. Yes we have seen them stalk women and children. Cats and dogs are the menu regularly. Do you have the ability to harvest coyotes or have someone who specializes in harvesting them and has fur bearer license? Often times tgey will do it for free just to get the hides. Stay safe and well and Good bless you📿📿📿.

@@runninggreywolf8313 there are trappers in our area, if we have a predation kill of our sheep the government has funding to pay for the trapping/hunting and they reimburse us for the loss of the sheep/lamb/ram. We are also free to hunt them on the farm as long as we comply with any superseding regulations. A few that have stalked us on horse, or while running equipment out back have been deleted.

She is doing okay, we had a bit of a tough decision at the vets for Happy the lamb yesterday, but it looks like we have made the right decision to keep on going with her. Hoping we can show that anyone can do this stuff, hoping that showing that working on machines isn’t too hard and overwhelming so if someone is starting out with older things they can do it too.
