Akwa Ibom is NOT a City it is a STATE in South South Nigeria with several cities.eg the City of Uyo which is the capital of the state. There is the city of Ikot Ekpene (oldest Local Government in West Africa),The City of Eket(where all the Oil companies are),etc! But thank you for Showcasing our beautiful state. We have a very kind and active governor Pastor Umo Eno whom we fondly call Unku Golden who is making amazing strides in every area via the Arise Agenda. He's building more roads, revamping the schools, the healthcare system, the agricultural sector, housing for the homeless, improving opportunities for the disabled, etc to name a few.Proud to be an Akwaibomite🎉🙌👍

That's why many of us still believe Nigeria should break up. Places like this WILL NEVER realize their full potential while still in Nigeria. That's why crude oil will never sustain Nigeria as the only mean of revenue. That's why other places will remain overcrowded and the resources overstretched. If we break up, the different countries will be able to discover their worth and their true potential and even compete developmental-wise, thereby facilitating rapid growth of these countries. At the minimum, Nigeria should go back to the regional system of government!

@@ChigozieAnyim-zg4hx Regional system of government in Nigeria is more or less like a break up. That's why the powers that be will not allow it to happen, because they will no longer be able to take money from the south to build the north. Their pot of soup will run dry, hence its's like breaking up. In fact, it will lead to final break up.

Can't the state government take better care of that Lugard former home and office if the federal government abandoned it, because its a glory to the state to be hosting historical memorial for the nation.

Yes, I believe we are in agreement, Bigwillz. My main concern, from an outsiders prospective, was that I've too often seen these beautiful areas be overdeveloped without regard for preserving the natural landscape. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to make the best use of the natural assets available, but too often developers, unchecked, will overdevelop the very asset they wished to exploit. Developers sometimes let making money be their only concern.

It's important to understand the history of slavery. Before colonization, slavery was Africa's main economy. In the mid-7th century, the Arabs invaded Africa and spread Islam. They enslaved many Africans and transported them to the Arabian Peninsula via the Trans-Saharan slave trade route where millions of the men were castrated to prevent them from reproducing (that's why there are not that many blacks in the Arabian Peninsula). Some of these slaves were captured by force, while others were purchased from tribal chiefs in exchange for gold and other goods.
Centuries later, African tribal chiefs began selling slaves to European invaders (not colonizers, who arrived much later). It's worth noting that colonizers actually outlawed slavery.
I highly recommend a visit to the Badagry Museum in Nigeria if you are interested in learning about the history of slavery. It is worth noting that in addition to enslaving Africans, the Arabs also enslaved millions of Europeans during the Barbary slave trade. Interestingly, some of the descendants of those European slaves are now living in North Africa.

    Wow!!!!!!!
    This is beautiful.
I think there should be hotels and resorts around this cashew beach.
The people of the south especially Akwaibomites would have and enjoy their own land, instead of all going to Lagos that is completely overflowing with beach lovers.
    This is absolutely breathtaking.
Thanks for bringing us this wonder in our land.❤❤

This video is pioneering and these are the sort of videos we want to see. I am from Akwa Ibom state, I thought I knew my State inside out but you just revealed to me a hidden gem. Well done and thank you for going so far. As a child I stayed in Lord Lugard’s house my grand father was a medical doctor. The coastal road is probably the greatest and most ambitious infrastructure by any President it will most certainly open hidden gems like these to the world. Subscribing to your channel. Well done.

This is the best place to have cited the Eko Atlantic City or the Centenary City.
The government of Akwa Ibom should borrow a leaf from Lagos and Abuja. They should build a new city along the coast, something like Dubai. They have the money, and if my idea is properly sold to them, it is achievable.

I'm shocked you all don't see far. Why do you think they're building the Lagos -calabar coastal road. It's to open it up for development. You think just building a centenary city can function without a "ROAD" linking all those states. This route when developed will be a travel destination in less than a decade. The major work is the coastal road, after that more investment will come in and infrastructures will provide jobs and the development will open it up for tourism.

As always a wonderful vedic of Nigeria and very informative. Kudos to you for all your exploratory adventures about Nigeria. We have the best weather, vegetation and topography in the world and yet we do not appreciate it. Like you pointed out they will travel to other tropical islands for vacation and show off rather than their own shoreline.
I still remember the video you did about the TINAPA project that is now in ruins! ... and the OBUDU Cattle Ranch that seems to be heading in the same appalling conditions in Calabar. What a shame.
I am sure many of these coastal islands in Nigeria are as big as some these vacation Islands - no shade on my people from the Island and yet no initiative to develop the areas.
