- Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, American Demolition & Nuclear Decommissioning (DND), Inc of Grand Island, New York) performs the preparation for and successful explosives felling of one (1), 700’ tall reinforced concrete windscreen and free standing internal brick liner in Alma, Wisconsin on Monday, October 1, 2018. The thin wall construction of the windscreen and reinforcing did not provide adequate “constrained” concrete to provide an acceptable hinge area for CDI to absolutely control the accuracy of fall between railroad main lines and critical electric grid infrastructure. CDI’s team designed and installed new hinges to carry the structure through initial rotation, guiding the structure precisely along the designed center of fall.
There was no interruption of electric transmission operations or unplanned outage due to dust/vibration created by the felling of the structure. The railroad main lines closed during the actual felling of the structure were reopened per schedule. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I always make a prediction if chimney will remain intact or come apart due to negative G-load as it rotates during free fall. By the time it is past 45 degrees, the top is being pulled in tension. Many times they hit ground in several pieces. After impact, the chimney which is mostly air, is reduced to a narrow track of debris. CDI can drop a chimney in the exact spot they planned. Watching it from several camera angles is always a treat.
Best video ever
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Best video ever
1:04 looks like a giant cigarette
That's what I'm saying😂
that chimney demolition PowerPoint in Alma
Wisconsin
Currently binge-watching these videos.
Hey, Coming from the failed Cheminée de Centrale Thermique video
Wow! That came down like a giant bomb!!!
Idk no why, but the thumbnail looks like a cigarette.
Be really cool to have a camera on top as it went down
How would that not destroy the camera J.D?
CDI always does it right and puts on a good show. Produced a video for them in Boston quite a few years ago. Great people to work with and for! NH
Fred dibnah would have brought that down with a box of matches

Sounds like you made it angry
It sounds so cool collapsing you can hear the massive explosion and then the massive sounding wind rush through the funnel.😎❤️😎
hard to believe the chimney held together, when it turns into dust so easily ... or is the concrete fragile? however, now i dont find concrete solid like a stone anymore :D :D :D ... and i am glad we dont have earthquakes in our country ...
or is it because it is old? a new one wouldnt be destroyed so easily?
It's a matter of mechanic:
In compression, vertical stress, it withstand very well.
But like a tank, it withstand only if stress is equaly shared all around the structure.
So if any part of the walls got a dent, it's a weak point where all constrain may coming, and it's when that happen that's everything collapse, because it could no longer bear such a force.
So don't be worry about concrete strengh, that's also why we use rebars, to add shear resistance.
I love the second one 👍
Awesome
1:04 The Tower Made It's very Last Smoke For 1 More time and The Last Time Before Impacting The Ground. :(
Wow that's awesome
O
I thought the thumbnail was a cigarette
Sameeeee
Same
Kindof
The pic on the cover looks like a cigarette 🤣
Pp
That's a big chimney. Why not use it as a radio and communications tower?
Its facinating to hear and see them fall but them and water towers are vaniching every day from our country.
Sad to see such an old ancient tower come down and it’s been through the ringer people has built that and now it’s down
Most popular video from this channel (by far) isn't even a building demolition but rather a power station chimney being felled by a single set of charges.
so many views but barely any comments
it's because the channel only recently enabled comments on their videos. for a while they were all disabled so I assume a lot of people just didn't bother to look
❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
That 2nd puff of dust is a second delayed charge or crushing of the concrete?
Gotta wonder just HOW many years of accumulated soot, ash, and other stuff were being pushed out in an instant there?
Pretty sure I just saw someone put out the world's biggest cigarette.
BOOMMMM
Tower: Time to res- *falls on ground*
Dad: watches video
Son: why are you crying so damn loud
Dad: I WANT TO SMOKE😭😭😭😭😭
Son:WTF
0:49 Best angle
BAM BOOM!
Wonder if these guys ever heard of Fred Dibnah, old school demo!
what the height?
Amazing. Well done team👌
I felt sorry for that chimney!
Rip chimney
It blowed like a giant horn as it hit the ground

Nice vid
Could someone explain the difference between a "chimney" and a "wind screen"? Thanks.
Large reinforced concrete chimneys like the one in this video vary in design but typically consist of two main 'parts': 1) One or more inner flues/liners that contain and carry exhaust gases up the structure. The flues/liners can be constructed from brick, r/c concrete, steel or fibreglass and are lined with acid-resistant materials to protect them from the corrosive effects of the exhaust gas. 2) An outer concrete shell, which is called a wind screen or wind shield. This serves to structurally support and protect the inner flue(s). There is usually a void between the inner flue(s) and outer concrete shell allowing internal access throughout the full height of the chimney structure for maintenance and servicing of aircraft warning lights, etc.
👍👍😎
So cool is that a demolition site why is there a pool leaning towards the wires it won’t That’s so cool nothing just demolished was a lot of smoke I love it nice videos
CDI
wouldnt want to be under that

Wow ! Look,s like a biggest fall!
Is there a chance you could include a little history about the structure being torn down ? I find that sort of stuff intresting
Strange how much they puff out when they are falling to the ground
How are you guys so successful at these?
FIRE! 🔥
Я думал, это гигантская сигарета
Smokestacks always give up the ghost and puff one more time just before impact.
Nice.
I found it on google maps
So tall and loud
😊😊😊😊
well that's loud
wow😮

Steps to reach this video:-
Step 1: open tower of power
Step 2: open Collapsing cooling tower
Step 3: open water tower demolition
Step 4: you're here
I got here from emergency demolition of a tower, then thermal damage to wind turbine, and then here
ok

It fell like a Power Rangers enemy.
Are you calling a coal power station a“steam power station”. Because that is way less specific.
aku orang berunai darusalam
Fred would have done a much better job, if he was demolishing the chimney.
OMG
อ้าออกไปแล้ว😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅

It looks like a giant cigarette was just lit and then crushed under your shoe
