in my previous build i tried to limit the amount of sound escaping from the cabin as well. im surprised that's not a requirement for more people. you can hear how well that car seals up just by closing the door. very impressive sound from the drum track.
wooooooooowwwwwowowowow. what people are saying about youtube compression and microphone not picking up the quality is just not true. minute 11:00 when the girl started singing i was simply AMAZED, definitely did not expect the sound to come so clear and so loud.
Yeah, that's a sweet build , matter of fact ,I was at my buddies shop, and we were talking about , I, the ib under the seats in this car, truly an awesome build peter!!
Wow, very neat install! I wouldn’t have guess that there was that much amplification under the hatch. I am actually thinking of putting a 12W7 or 12W6 in the hatch of my X5M. I was just searching for videos for ideas when I came across this one. That is very beautiful work. Sounds awesome!
I recently installed a 12" w6v3 in my mid sized suv. I wasn't ready for the amount of power coming from that monster. I can't imagine what a 12w7 will sound like. I had mine installed at a JL Audio certified shop. Its incredible how the sub can produce a gentle bass or a roaring bass depending on the song. I would have probably been good with a 10" w6v3. Its funny because the shop tech sat in the car with me while we tested it and he had to write down the songs I chose for testing. Even he was in disbelief at the amount of bass coming from that monster in the back! lol
@@performingspecs7841 . Nice! I bet it sounds incredible! Hopefully, you have a nice set of speakers to complement it. My next step is adding some Focals to complete the upgrade. Cheers!
I’m in the middle of making changes to my system. I’ve been without music from my system for almost 2 months. It’s going to be 4 way active like this car, 10” Sub in the front with 8” mid bass 3.5” mids then tweeters and two 10’s in the back. I haven’t had much time to get it completed. I swear I now know what it’s like to be a drug addict in withdrawal when they need drugs. I need my system in my life.

It was quite long time ago, so can’t remember exactly, but every system gets a proper RTA evaluation to determine the right crossover points. It could have been anywhere around 3-4kHz area.
I know that system sounds great and eats up contemporary jazz and great male and female vocals. I bet a Will Downing (I try) and Layla Hathaway would probably get people to pay and listen to a concert in the car 🚗 lol
Hello, I have followed you and learnt alot from you. May I ask for slope and frequency you put for tweeter, mid and mid bass for this system. Thanks in advanced.
What equipment are you using for the video and audio recording, I can hear the audio quality through my theater surround home system. I can only imagine how great it sounds live. The source is the stock stereo?
Check out the Sennheiser Ambeo test video shared on the channel, that’s the mic i use, but of course it sounds even better in real life. We used the OEM HU with HELIX SDMI25 box so we can use optical signal from the source into the DSP.
Hi Peter, i'm writing to you for a very specific information related to Helix Q12W. I'm running 2 of them in a ported box. I'm facing the issue with its dust cap. Few days ago i observed a crack in one sub. Some how I repaired it with ca glue, yesterday i found out that the other one has also started cracking up. It starts from the bottom of Helix logo where letter 'L' is written and goes straight up ahead till the logo splits from the middle. Have you ever noticed or witnessed something similar?
Wow! How do you blend the sub in the front with the one in the rear? Does the one in front need to be crossed at a higher frequency? Or maybe you set the level of the front lower than the rear? Are there any major time alignment issues! Excellent work as usual! A sub in front and one in the rear with different sizes... very very interesting! I'd love to be able to hear a system like this someday.
Hi Peter. Actually quite nicely build the new sub. Only shame, in my opinion, is that the upholstery of the new subwoofer looks like a different tint of material. Maybe in real it looks more the same and the camera doesn't do justice to material?
@@pssound9749 it’s not easy indeed! I needed fabric for my 5 series. The only company who had it wouldn’t sell it to me; he only did business with people in the upholstery business. I am using JL c7 3 way components with helix dsp and zapco amps and w7 sub. 6.5 are amazing but I am lagging in mid range and tweeters. Can some one suggest me some brand/product which I can replace with my existing JL c7 and get better sound.
I'm sorry but i not understand what has been done. The underseat IB 8" has been removed for the noise complaint and replaced with that single front sub am i correct? If so the case that single sub is enough to cover LR separation for midbass or isn't required because you cant detect it?

Hi petter one question what brand rca cables do you normally use for all your high end installs ?
Hi Peter. Actually quite nicely build the new sub. Only shame, in my opinion, is that the upholstery of the new subwoofer looks like a different tint of material. Maybe in real it looks more the same and the camera doesn't do justice to material?

what are the crossover frequencies between rear sub+front sub, and front sub+midbass? (not necessarily in this car, just in general in a 5-way?)
In general you’d cross the rear sub to the front one at 35-50Hz range, then the front ones to midbass in 70-100Hz range.
many thanks for the reply!
How much this round about?
~£12k in equipment + 40+ days of installation, which differs depending on where you live and if shops can actually do it or not.

ML3 is a clear winner for us.
