    Sweet review man! Loving my Perigee II Rods as well. I just picked up the heavy for a lighter topwater/ frog setup! Keep up the good work man!

      I was looking at the heavy also but I’m waiting to see what other Rods KastKing may be releasing soon.

      I hope so. That 7’4” is the perfect length.

      Guess what, i got 7"6 heavy action 15-35lbs for perigee II casting rod. It's perfect.

    Exactly the setup I chose after extensive research, taking price into consideration.
    I am new to inshore fishing and thought that having two rod tips gives me more options. I only wish that Kastking would sell individual spools, so that I could change the poundage line to suit what I am fishing for.

    Great review, looking to buy my first rod and will most likely be going with the 7’ Perigee II. Hoping that pairs well with the KastKing Megatron 2000 reel.

    I’m 53 years old and been fishing most of my life. I’ve got old gear and new. I don’t and won’t spend big money on rods and reels. I get good quality like Lews and KastKing at an affordable price and save my big ticket items for my boat, fish finders, trolling motors, spot lock, etc. A $200 dollar rod won’t catch more fish🖐🤣. Good review. By the way, I have both setups and like them equally.

      Im the same way and my budget on rods is usually around $60. Anything more than that I expect i will pay for long term quality so the most is $100.
      Its skills that let you catch more fish and knowing what your style is. I personally feel these are just tools to get the job done

    • @leepao6302
      @leepao6302 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree that $200 rod doesn't catch more fish, but you'll still catch fish without a boat neither .... hahaha ...., the only reason i get a boat is because i hate dumb ass who keep casting their line over mine, and i want silent and peace while fishing not because i can catch more fish

    Great video, the reason why Lews can sell it in that price point is because, they (Lews) know/notice that the average/topical angler don't really care about the gears as long as it sound cheap they will buy it and most tackle retailer don't carry KingKing gears so all they see is Lews stuff, but to be honest KingKing had way better rod component material when they build their stuff, I don't/never personal used KingKing stuff, but for the price they're worth every pennies, plus the reason why KastKing can sell their stuff affordable is because they eliminate the middle-men and just sell straight to the customer

    I returned my kastking rod a few days ago Bc I got the wrong size hadn’t ordered another yet but I walked in dicks saw the lews carbon fire for 40$ and 20% off and copped glad to hear I might have got the better rod for 30$ less lol Black Friday deals were insane today I did get a casting rod tho

    Just wondering if you have more feedback on the Lew's Carbon Fire after using it more? They are on sale at Dick's right now for $47.98 and I'm thinking about getting one. A Bassmaster reviewer says they're an IM8 graphite blank with nano resin technology which really puts them in a very decent quality category. Are the guides holding up? Thx for any feedback!

    I believe the IM6 24 ton is not as strong as an IM8 rods also not as light. I bought a berkley lightning IM6 and tip snapped while handling and I saw another on the racks also snapped so I will not purchase them anymore if I see 24 ton or IM6 unless there heavy power then I would consider getting them.but the medium or medium heavy power stay on the rack.

    Funny I stumbled on this video, I have both the 7'3 Carbon Fire casting and the 7'1 KastKing Perigee II casting rod. I have paired them with The Carbon Fire baitcaster and KastKing Assassin respectively, unfortunately due to a massive heat wave here in California I have not been able to use them yet. I have illnesses that make me highly susceptible to heat and I also have to fish from a wheelchair so conditions have to be optimal for me to go, however when I do finally get to use them I will update you on how they preformed. Thanks for your video. BTW I Subbed and Liked. :-)

    Solid review. Still torn apart on which to get. I'm a fan of Lew's and like you said that Winn grip looks very appealing to the eye and hand feel, but those Fuji rings seem sweet. I was initially going to pair the sharky 3 with the carbon fire but now I'm thinking kastking. Noticed you said the kastking was cheaper but now the carbon fire rod is on sale for the same price. Knowing they're at the same price, would you still go kastking? Someone chime in and help convince me more towards one or the other lol.

    • @baitnboujee4369
      @baitnboujee4369  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      KastKing simply because of the Fuji guides and the Carbon Fiber blank is better.

      @@baitnboujee4369 Ended up buying 2. The ml/m and m/mh two piece. Solid rods for sure. Gonna toss the emerald eagle reel on one of them.

      Why settle for one rod when you can have two: ml/m or mh/m? A no-brainer!

    I don't own any fancy rods but recently purchased a $170 Lews combo and a $100 13 Omen Black 2 rod. I prefer the Kastking Perigree II to those rods. I have caught largemouth, crappie, catfish and trout on my twin tip M/ML Perigree spinning rod. Am now considering purchasing a MH/M twin tip to add to my arsenal. I own a couple of their reels. They are not bad but not super impressive.

      Thank you being honest in your reply. The new reels that have been released are levels above the the older stuff that was released before. The perigee rod is hard to beat at that price point. Even though I use the Speed Demon bass rod series now I still use the crap out of mine for traveling.

    I have to agree with some of the other comments that you can't do a efficient review of rods without using them.. I also agree that a IM8 is better than a 24 ton blank

    I wish they would say this rod is a 20 / 80 meaning stops bending at 20 percent 0r a 40 / 60 stops bending at 40 percent of the rod some rods med hvy bend more or less then others or med rods bend more then other med rods can't order what I want . Have to have it in my hands to see and feel what I like .

      At some point you have to look at specs to price ratio and realize you're paying extra for a brand name. Kastking is pretty hard to beat. There's a reason Kastking products have thousands and thousands of positive reviews on the most popular e-retailer (Amazon) in the U.S. and St. Croix's best seller doesn't even break 200...

      Rob Nasser pretty simple kast king sends out free gear to review product you’ve purchased, I bought a rod and reel combo and got gloves, and braided line for free. I do like my last king gear but Lews is definitely getting more competitive with budget combos I have a Royale legend on Brutus rod and a carbon fire with a Lews classic speed spool. Lews is the better quality

    Ok, I'm getting disgusted with this overhyped company. Listen folks,....you get exactly what you pay for. You want a cheap rod that will get the job done for light use, then yes Kastking is your best choice. However, you want to put in long days of fishing every week? Then please do not purchase this rod. It's OVERHYPED! You get what you pay for,....everyone knows this!

    • @baitnboujee4369
      @baitnboujee4369  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What is your experience with this rod? Fuji guides, 24 ton Carbon blank is not overhyped for 59.99. I’m sorry you feel that way. I do fish weekly and I don’t know what your definition of long days is but I have put it through it’s paces. The Lew’s is a IM8 blank and on paper the KastKing beats it hands down. Don’t judge it by its name but give KastKing a try.

      Stop trying to make fishing a rich mans game. This ain't golf, I fished a whole year weekly with a $40 spinning combo from Walmart, does it make you mad I caught so many fish from a budget combo? Kastking has been a big upgrade for me.

    • @PatRock1983

      Same here man... I couldn't afford a kayak and rods/reels. So I opted for a kayak, and have a couple inexpensive rods and reels. They are a big upgrade over my older starter rods. I'm just not ready to spend $100 plus dollars on a rod or reel.

    • @a7xkyl
      @a7xkyl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can catch just as many fish on a $30 Ugly Stik as you can a $300 dollar Gloomis. Gear doesn't make the fisherman, time spent out on the water does.
