As a teen in most of the 2000s, this is it! Takes me back every time. Today, I'm a 34 year old father, but tonight, with this song, I'm 15 again traveling on these back roads on my bicycle at 3 in the morning to see my gf for a few hours.
One of favorite songs of all time! 2024 and this song still hits hard with nostalgia! Music is like a time machine you can go without hearing a song for 10+ years but as soon as you hear it you're transported to a time with a flood of forgotten memories.
This song has been my go to with my ups and downs on my sobriety. Now here I am 1 year and 3 months sober from heroin. No subs, methadone or rehab. I got my family back together, a home and 2 vehicles. Never thought in my life I’d get where I am today. God is good. Anyone struggling with sobriety don’t be afraid to reach out. Honestly help is there. Biggest suggestion is change who you surround yourself with. Much love to everyone

My Grandpa died 4 Months ago (June 4th). Every week before he passed away I would go to check on him in the hospital. He always had CNN or ABC Family on his Tv. There was a movie that featured this song on ABC Family, I don't actually know the name of the movie. I looked over at him and he was smiling, that was the last time I ever saw him smile. At the funeral and wake I was in charge of the music, for the occasion I wanted to not think of how he's gone and will never come back. I thought of it as just another step of life and to remember all the good things he's done such as, he served in world war 2. Back on to the music. I choose to place some casual music played at wake and at the funeral before we put the body in the hearse, I played this song and I was In tears. At the funeral In the cemetery we had current navy seals march along the cemetery. Thanks for this song "Uncle Kracker." Info: Rank in WW2, Private.
I loved this song as a kid too! It followed me into adulthood as well when I picked up my own heroin addiction (I'm clean now). It's one of those songs you have to catch onto in order to get the darker meaning, but as kids we weren't really capable of grasping the concept. It's told from the drug, heroin's, point of view. As kids we skip over such the tragic and darker meanings of movies, tv shows, songs, books, etc. I watched the Land Before Time later in life (that's right, hate on me) and I was sobbing! I miss having the wonder and innocence of a child. Everything was so much happier with less worries and more imagination.

When I was in highschool I was absolutely in love with one girl and one girl only. She would play this song alllllllll the time and I loved every minute of it. I will say this we did not end up together but I do think about her and hope she's doing awesome wherever she is at
Today I say goodbye to my mother. She loved this song and this will be the first song which people hear. The lyrics suit her perfectly. "Follow me, everything is alright, I'll be the one to tuck you in at night..."
Sorry to hear. I've lost both parents in the last fre years. The first year is the hardest. Thanksgiving is coming up and then Christmas... Birthday, Mothers Day, etc. Just keep being thankful for good memories and pour into someone's life like your mother did for you. Prayers for you!
I remember my best friend/cousin singing this and thinking what are you singing because I was and still am a metalhead but as I got older I appreciate and expand my music and this song is so amazing and beautiful!!! Big thanks to my cousin Anthony and Uncle Kracker because this song stays on repeat!!❤🤘🔥
I ment to say 5months later to the day in Nov.the 12th I lost my son a Joshua I'm 55 and totally alone other then ex wife and my #1 Junior the blue but blk&white pitty I'm gonna ditch the house and get a new camper cause at 55 I thght the same looking at my reflection. And when you mentioned your life and situation I thought of an old acquaintance Jack he had a girl for 7 or 8 yrs Her name was Heather she could barely walk 🚶♂️ 😳 she would go out with us and bartender would say 'Can't ser v e her she's so drunk can barely walk almost always so Jack found her , her own brthlizr equip, did the trick .She was so beautiful inside & out. Which made her vulnerable as it wear Jack started to heat her senseless with words. He may as well of beat her ass . So one time he was gone outta town she lost her whole bottle of pain meds she called me to help her find some cause she said if I don't figure it out He'll lock me up she was extremely upset and scared I was able to fix it I'll never forget the look on her face grateful doesn't gv just, until the bear hug friendly and extremely appreciative to me it was much much more . I thought wow 👌 he'll ruin this never ever could I have predicted 🤔 she didn't die dont worry he came home she had her meds.but took a bunch of Zanex because I got there sparing only minutes felt great to help her in her direstraits she was messed up and still scared over 2 pills it was a $$ thing for him well he had a race boat backed up to front pic
To all the addicts out there still suffering.. there’s hope. I was in my addiction for 15 years plus. It IS possible to get and stay sober, YOU GOT THIS AND MY HEART AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU!! ❤️❤️❤️
I wish my brother would believe that. I thought he hit rock bottom a couple of years ago but I guess he's got a little farther to fall. I've made dozens of offers to get him help. Then he went and did something he knew he'd get caught doing and knew he'd likely end up in prison for. Not sure if he wanted to get locked up or what. I should've forced rehab on him when I had the chance.

doesnt matter what type of music you are into, if this song plays and you dont sing then we cant be friends lol =D 23 years later and still love this song!
This song really has been swimming through my veins like a fish in the sea for 20 years now. No matter what, at some point I always remember it and come back for a listen at least once or twice a year.
First time I heard this I use to work in a crazy busy karaoke bar, hectic time was 11pm-3am, this was once played at the start off my shift and instantly vibed with it. Then during a manic shift someone stepped and belted it out. Everything seemed easy from that point for the remaining chaotic short-staffed shift. Nice bit of nostalgia right here👌
My mom always sang this to me when I was sad or stressed out and to this day everytime I get sad or stressed I play this song and sing along. Even though it's not something that should make you feel better🤣
Forgot about this great tune until I heard it playing today. Reminds me of my Mother. Not all of her music was to my taste, but I always liked it when she played this song. Man, I miss her, when a loved one has passed music is often one of the most powerful means of remembrance we have of those times with our loved ones.
This song was my childhood..damn.. I remember was like year 5 or 6 now I'm 28. It would always play it was my favourite song..and literally everyone was raving over it
@@TheDaddyVanilla I was still in junior school lol my old teacher was raving about buying his album. Una Thomas. Fond memories that she gave me a few recorded cassettes of favourite songs if mine
@christinashephard6211 no, heroin addiction. "Swimming through your veins" "you won't find anyone else like me" "as long as no one knows nobody will care."
Guys stop fighting about what the song is about. Uncle Kracker said in an MTV interview, "It takes on a couple of different meanings. I've heard some people think that I'm talking about drugs, or some people think I'm talking about cheating. I guess it's kinda both. I would never want to say anything that would get myself in trouble, being married with a couple of kids. That song is like a dirty picture painted with a pretty brush."
Tanner Petersen Yeah but I don't think Bush should be given any credit for that. People would've banded together regardless. He only served to reinforce negative ideas about the US. I don't think the US "found a leader in george jr."
My gf relapsed back in May this year, this song reminds me of her and her death 😭 i never realized how powerful addiction is and it hurts to now know how bad it was for her. I loved her so much, she was the best ugh sleep well my princess. Probably shouldn't be saying this here, but i felt like it'd be a safe place to randomly vent.
always when i hear this song it brings a tear to my eye because my mom died in a car crash a long time ago and she would sing me this song to put me to bed when i was little. rip. ;(
im so sorry friend. i just lost my mom less than a month ago and....i would never wish that on anyone. much love going to u. if u need to talk i know im just a youtube commenter but...im here my friend

In my case it did come to me so no searching was required.
I like this beat/song just as long as I don't pay attention to the words.
Calm down it’s a song about cheating. It’s catchy but not a masterpiece at all

April 03 2024❤ Y'all this song has been in my heart, burnt into my soul ❤ I have so much love with this song but feel so much pain at the same time.
Thanks for this song "Uncle Kracker."

Sej you story hab make me cry like a baby. R.i.p your grandpa
God bless your grandpa and your family my friend….

Today I say goodbye to my mother. She loved this song and this will be the first song which people hear. The lyrics suit her perfectly. "Follow me, everything is alright, I'll be the one to tuck you in at night..."
I lost my dad this year bro, I know our parents are looking down on us. They’re proud of you.
❤💔❤
Sorry to hear. I've lost both parents in the last fre years. The first year is the hardest. Thanksgiving is coming up and then Christmas... Birthday, Mothers Day, etc. Just keep being thankful for good memories and pour into someone's life like your mother did for you. Prayers for you!
Mom's birthday is in April 5th she too lost her battle with breast cancer too at 37 yrs. old. I love this song she loved it too.

It does in my flat So both my neighbours are deaf ...they always appear happy to see me I think 🤔😌😉 Gotta love Uncle Kracker ❤

This song is about being addicted to drugs.
@@Windbend3ris it not about a woman having a casual affair with the singer?
@christinashephard6211 no, heroin addiction. "Swimming through your veins" "you won't find anyone else like me" "as long as no one knows nobody will care."
Guys stop fighting about what the song is about. Uncle Kracker said in an MTV interview, "It takes on a couple of different meanings. I've heard some people think that I'm talking about drugs, or some people think I'm talking about cheating. I guess it's kinda both. I would never want to say anything that would get myself in trouble, being married with a couple of kids. That song is like a dirty picture painted with a pretty brush."

and this song became popular after 9/11, not a troll it's the truth, people found inner calm and found a leader in george jr
+Tanner Petersen I'm not sure Bush was the leader the US really needed.
+TJ Fiso I don't think so either, but after 9/11 you gotta admit people were sympathetic towards each other for at least a month
Tanner Petersen Yeah but I don't think Bush should be given any credit for that. People would've banded together regardless. He only served to reinforce negative ideas about the US. I don't think the US "found a leader in george jr."
