- A short film about Jane Seymour, third Queen Consort of King Henry VIII of England. I am aware that Jane's year of birth is disputed. Music is Aerith's Theme by Nobuo Uematsu
There are quite a few imitations of my Queen consort videos being created by other youtubers which I guess is quite flattering.
It's funny how everyone is blaming the women...it's King Henry's fault he was a douchebag and ruined many women.
My favorite queen, I love queen jane very much because of her kindness to her stepchildren Mary & Elizabeth.
Honey, check your information. Be nice to Elizabeth. Just Mary.
Died in child birth
I don't hate Jane and I don't think it was krama from Anne.I think Henry was just bad luck because only one of his 6 wivies was happy in life.(Anne of cleves.)
Keyonce Shepherd, Agree! I feel such pity for Anne of Cleves, but then I also feel that she was the luckiest of his wives, who didn't have to live for very long with that oaf of a fat king, like Henry the Monster.
Music is absolutely amazing.
4:06 'her ladies were forbidden to wear seductive clothes ' of course , as she herself became a Queen by the same way , she must have thought she 's equally replaceable by another lady in waiting . Isn't it pretty clear?
She's scared of her own ghost. Lol
Although I respect and admire Anne Boleyn, I really admire Jane for her courage, kindness and love towards others; these women would teach me about love and what to show - bravery, love and devotion.
R.I.P. Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour; two of the many historical women who I look up to in my life. I pray for you still...
All of those calling Queen Jane Seymour names should realize that The Tudors and other movies are. NOT history. Henry went for Jane because she was meek, modest, and retiring, and had no romantic history, all things that were not true of Anne Boleyn whom he so came to despise that he had Cromwell trump up charges of adultery and incest with her brother (likely all false) against her to rid himself of her. He preferred meek women who deferred to him as C of A in spite of her noble birth and education had done. Anne was arrogant, demanding, and outspoken. Shortly after they were married he became disenchanted with her, but hung on a bit longer, hoping for that son. When her last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage ironically on the day C of A was buried, her uncle the Duke of Norfolk remarked that she had 'miscarried of her savior'. Anne was doomed.
Queen Jane by bearing the long-awaited son, and dying soon after of childbed fever assured her place in Henry's heart. She provided him with the son and died before he could tire of her. He declared Jane his entirely beloved, and chose to be buried at her side.
It's a good idea to read some history written by authors who have done research and can cite sources rather than taking film/tv as gospel.
Exactly!
Jane Seymour and Henry VIII are buried side by side in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Well I guess u have a point but Anne deserves to be buried in a beautiful place she was treated horribly
The charges of incest were most definitely false. If you listen to the creator of the Anne Boleyn files you will hear how the historian can prove that Anne was not even at court during the dated when she supposedly slept with these men. The other time she supposedly slept with her brother she was in sequestration after having undergone a miscarriage.
angelosdaughter C yes, I agree . I love British history, and read a lot of it. I have just finished (biography) The Six Wives of Henry VIII by Alison Weir . A lot of research was done before she wrote this book. This book is very well written, interesting and easy to read, at least I found it to be so.
yes but still....History says that one day after Anne was executed king was already with Jane.....could you do it? as a woman,....I could never, but I think that it was more that she didnt have any choice , because Henry was a tyrant
Jane Seymour, the only one he truly loved

Wonder what would have happened if she had failed to give Henry a son?
She’s have been on the proverbial chopping block like the others I imagine.
well...nope, Elizabeth became the greatest heir of them all, Mary was insane and Edward died at age ...15? actually if you look back at history , most important queens that Henry had were Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn, but at least Jane made king happy :D that was the most important thing at that time
exactly
@@diannelavoie5385 wonder if Elizabeth didn't born and didn't became the greatest Queen would people still like Anne
thank you so much for putting Jane's story up.
Correction. Neither Jane nor the king attended the christening. Women were not allowed to leave the birthing chamber for 40 days after birth, when they were finally "churched" - cleansed at the church door before being allowed to resume marital relations and normal life. The king and queen waited in the queens bedchamber for the christening party to return and then a celebration took place and this routine was all set down in the royal book, which was strictly adhered to.
Why are we hating on the women when it’s clearly the mans fault , in every aspect . Many of the women had miscarriages or their kids eventually died after birth , I kinda think that it’s because of him he may of had something from sleeping around so much or maybe in his genetics , but it was also his fault it took acouple tries for a boy since men determine the baby and not women. So let’s hate on him not the women , they were just trying to survive
He in hell now so
its horrifying to think that dying in childbirth was a real threat and hazard.
Its horrifying to think it STILL IS! 😖
true @@Janellabelle
It wasn't in childbirth she died in, but yes. That was the reason why alot of women would write letters and say goodbye before going into their birthing chamber; in case they didn't come back out.
@@kiera6326 it's generally accepted historically that she died as a result of childbirth...what do you think happened to her?
@@Janellabelle+ Well, she didn't die until eleven days after she'd given birth. The birth itself was relatively smooth and she was on her feet again after two days, fit and healthy. Now, people aren't really sure what happened. Childbirth probably had a big play, but the story is, she contracted an illness. Two of them, actually. One after she ate something at dinner that ruined her digestive system, and another, less identifiable one much like a fever, one that robbed her of her breath and was what eventually killed her. She recovered from the bug she had after four days, and was fine again for three, but then she got that strange, second illness and suffered with it horribly for two days before waking up in the middle of the night and essentially suffocating to death. Childbirth is probably what lowered her immune system and made it vulnerable to such attacks, but it's unfair to say that childbirth was what she died from, when it was, in fact the illness she had that caused her throat to swell up.
the woman agreed to be betrothed to Henry the very next day after Anne's execution.
what does that say about her true character? she's not the "lady" people offer so much credit to, is she? Or, had Henry put a musket to her head?
Yes I agree.i don't think Anne was involved with other men.but Jane Seymore I think was the love of his life
+Lisa Stone He couldn't love anyone for long and he was unfaithful to Jane early in their marriage. Within days of their wedding he was ogling other women in front of her and she heard him say he wished had had seen these new women at court before he married her.
if she wouldnt have been the mother of his son he would have get rid of her too....thats for sure.
Definitely not; he married her after the death of Catherine (his LEGAL WIFE in the eyes of Englishmen)

The stories said about each of his queens are not meant as complete facts.Remember.It was way before our time, and we never met any of these women. So we really do not know how their personalities were.We can only assume. But with that being said,I do believe she was his favorite only because she bore him a son.
fairybits, I believe that as well. I also believe that Henry the Monster was incapable of loving anyone but himself perhaps, certainly not his wives at least.

Jennie Hudson In think she may have had childbed fever or something like that, I may be wrong though.
I ain't dead people
@@TheRealJaneSeymour you're dead to me tho lol
I thought that the sanitary conditions added to her illness & death. Doctors didn’t wash their hands before procedures or instruments until the late 1800s. They had rituals about her confinement room, closed windows, floor coverings, etc., If she had some underlying issues & childbirth, that added to infections.
Post childbirth care was probably at fault, too. Antibiotics weren’t there until the late19th or 20th centuries.
@Tekirai Well, some historians believes that Jane played a role in Anne's death. She refused to become a mistress, she wanted marriage, just as Anne did. She made this demand while Anne was inprisoned in the Tower, and it is thought that Jane knew this would mean Anne would have to be executed, because Henry could not risk another divorce. She got engaged to Henry the day after Anne's execution and married 11 days later. She was seen happy/partying the day after Anne's death. IMO, not very pious
Like Anne Boleyn was any better herself, considering she celebrated the death of Catherine of Aragon
@@idontgiveafaboutyou Anne didn't celebrate Catherine's death It was just a propaganda that was spread by her haters
@@idontgiveafaboutyou eustace chapuys hated Anne so if she did something like that he would have written it in his accounts
Kamrun Sultana well either way, she certainly didn’t hesitate taking her place and most likely didn’t sympathize with her
People are saying Jane was mean to Anne. Well of course she did!! These are REAL people not characters in tv shows. Ask yourself if you went to a completely foreign place and the second most Important person there was like a mentor to you. She really cared about you even though she didn't have to. She was kind and good. And then you watched her life be made miserable by a former companion who for FOUR YEARS smiled in her face (Anne was one of Katherine's ladies for 4 years before she made her move. Love at first sight like in the Tudors series.. NOT) and then used everything she knew to destroy your Mentor and take her place. Your mentor died and you see the person who betrayed her rejoice.....And then you have a chance at revenge..... >:) Oh you KNOW Jane took it with pleasure! And are you going to tell me you would Saintly pass up the chance probably to do the EXACT same things to Anne that she had done to Katherine? In that case I'm amazed you have had time to watch this video much less read this long comment in between washing the feet of the homeless and praying for forgiveness when you Avoided Toe Jam Sam's.
Wonderful video. :D

Someone in the comments said that they are a defendant of Jane Seymour. Jane Seymour had only one son. King Edward VI of England. He died st 15 due to an illness. He never had kids. I'm thinking that they want attention, or that they are descendants of relatives of Jane Seymour.
Nicole - she could be a descendent from James family though. Doesn't have to be from her son; Jane had siblings so possibly thru them she could be related
Jenn Moran Read the last couple of words. That's what I said. "Or they had descendants of relatives of Jane Seymour."
Nicole because people on here like to attack her all the time
Jane was hands down my favorite of all his queens...
Six teachers history!? I've been living under a rock
Heya
I guess you are idolising her a bit too much , aren't you ? I mean , for God's sake , all she did was to look the other way and give birth to a son who didn't last too long anyway! Anne and Catherine did that too , though they had daughters !
She also cared for both Anne's and Catherine's daughters
the power of science is amazing!
Yeah jane loved Mary and Elizabeth l like it was her own daughter because she is loyal but i am angry at King Henry VIII why he gotta be like that right,he is the problem, that’s why Elizabeth l became the virgin queen of England because she thinks that if she married she is afraid that her “husband” will takeover her and excecuted her also just like Catherine And her own mother Anne Boleyn and she is traumatized by her father King Henry Vlll🙀
Henry only wanted a son not a daughter.
But i was better in bed
@@lovablexdove9222 Jane never liked Elizabeth . And just Mary.
Jane was my favorite wife of King Henry the 8th.
Do not blame Jane for death of Anne. It was not her fault.
It was Thomas Cromwell’s or Henry’s,It might be Henry because he wanted a male heir to the British Throne.
Maybe Anne’s death could be the same reason for her cousin’s death,Kathryn Howard.

That's Bullshit, Katherine Howard was executet because it had been proven, that she had an affair with Thomas Culpepper. Anne Boleyn's case, had not been proven, many people belived, that she was inncoent. When it comes to Jane, how can an inncoent and sweet woman, marry a man who had executet his last wife? The answer is simply, she wasn't that sweet, kind and angelic!

That's why she was given the name of Plain Jane. But I still love her. R.I.P
She appears to be quite modest and reserved, a far cry from some of Henry's other wives. I also think she definitely seems like a caring person, if we can take her historical sources to be correct.
U showed a pic of Catherine Howard?
jaydn Conlon It’s been proven not to be a portrait of Catherine Howard.
@Murdoc2Dbabe I agree. She got me with her kindness to Mary and Elizabeth. She could have just focused on her child but she did that and made the effort to show concern for both girls. I really like Anne Boleyn but it's disappointing she couldn't do the same.
I've noticed the die hard Anne Boleyn fans go into attack mode on petty high school drama blaming Jane for the downfall not even thinking about Anne's many powerful male enemies. Overall the ONLY one at fault.....
His Royal Fat Ass.
She probably saw how Anne treated Mary and decided to act the other way round. She had a great respect for Mary's mother too.
bubblinbrownsugar616, "His Royal Fat Ass." LOL! Agree! And you're right, a lot of these Anne Boleyn fans are going into attack mode on petty high school drama blaming Jane for the downfall not even thinking about Anne's powerful enemies. Not to mention the fact, that at the end of the day, His Royal Fat Ass was the one who wanted to be rid of her once and for all, and was the one who signed her death warrant. In other words, Jane had nothing to do with Anne Boleyn's death!
Love the final fantasy music in the background
We the people came along way
@Tekirai Jane didn't have to go to total bitch mode, her marriage to Henry was never disputed like Anne's was, both previous wives were dead by the time they married. Hence, her children by Henry could never be considered bastards, and lose their standing in the line of succession like Elizabeth could. Anne's actions towards Mary must be seen in light of this. Also, some historians now suggest Jane was not just the innocent wife, but also calculating, in a disguised manner. We'll never know...
ladythalia, The only reason that Anne's marriage was ever questioned was because Henry the Monster (as I like to call him) broke with Rome so that his marriage to Anne could be considered valid. I think what Anne did to Mary, no matter which way you look at it. Jane was a wonderful and kind person, Anne, not so much. She certainly was quick tempered, something Jane was not.
0:10 Henry chose her before Anne? She has flat lips, and small mouth, little eyes, long nose, weird chin. Not to mention english hood, what looks like she had cockoo clock over her head.
As long as her uterus worked and she would go along with marrying him less than a fortnight after having had Anne executed...it was all good to Henry
I feel bad for Catherine of Aragon cause she was married to Henry VIII for 22 years. He left her for Anne Boleyn. Anne was the home wrecker
Lina Zalewski
Herny had many affiars, it would have come anthoer girl who had played the game
DNA Leguillou And anne give birth to one of the greatest monarch while ugly jane give birth to a boy who died at 15
Actually Henry was the home wrecker. He had a roving eye, and an insatiable and unreasonable wish for a son. England had no Salic laws that prohibited a female ruler. That was C of A's position. Her mother Iabella after the death of her brother had reigned in her own right in Castile. Her sister Juana inherited that throne until she was declared mad after she refused to have her husband's body buried and traveled around with it so she could visit at will.
Any time Henry focused his attentions on a woman, she could not refuse them. Besides the fact that he was king, the ambitious families of those women pushed them to accept, in the interest of social climbing.
* Anne Boleyn was in love with Henry Percy.
* Catherine Howard, a teenager cousin of Anne Boleyn, was orphaned of her mother, and fostered out, raised in the disorderly household of the old Duchess of Norfolk. She had had affairs with other men before her marriage, and was in love with Thomas Culpeper during her marriage. Henry was in his 40's, fat, and weakened by an ulcer on his leg that did not heal. She was encouraged to marry him by the Duke of Norfolk, who hoped to regain his standing with Henry after his stock fell when Anne Boleyn fell. She had grown up in a household without guidance or notice by her distant father, a poverty-stricken younger brother of the Duke. I always felt sorry for her.
* Catherine Parr was in love with Thomas Seymour when Henry looked her way. She reunited the old reprobate with his children, was a friend to them, and made him a happy family life. Even to her he was a bully when it was obvious that her intellect was on a par with his. He preferred his women to defer to him and to hide their lights (if they had them), under a bushel, as the saying is. Her end was sad. After Henry died, she was able to finally have her heart's desire and marry Seymour, but died in childbirth
I don't see any of Henry's wives as calculating (except for Anne B.) or bad woman. Anne was calculating once she realized that Henry was looking her way and her family encouraged him. She was ruthless to C of A and her daughter Mary, but she was holding out for marriage once she realized that she could not marry where she loved and that Henry intended to have her. She would not welcome him to her bed until he had made clear his intention to marry her, she was hardly a loose woman.
Catherine Howard, poor girl, was a teenager untaught, and without guidance except that of the self-interested Duke of Norfolk, and forced to marry an old overweight man having a midlife crisis.
Jane Seymour was a plain meek woman without a romantic history, a perfect match for a man who preferred that his women remain quietly in the background. Jane became a great friend of C of A's daughter Mary and was instrumental in having her brought back to court, but Henry insisted that Mary acknowledge the annulment of her parents' marriage, her illegitimacy, and him as head of the English Church. The letter she wrote survives. As Queen, Mary's first Parliament declared her parents' marriage valid.
Anne of Cleves was the sister of the Duke of Cleves, a minor Protestant dukedom that Cromwell thought would draw Henry closer to Lutheranism. It has been argued that Anne had been raised a Catholic by her mother. She, too, had no romantic history. Henry took an instant dislike to Anne based on her not looking like the portrait that was painted for him during marriage negotiations. He jusified his dislike of her levelling various accusations against her including that by the feel of her body she was no virgin and that she smelled bad. The marriage was never consummated. Not wanting to offend her brother by sending her home, Henry offered Anne titles, one being the King's Beloved Sister, and estates if she agreed to an annulment, which she cheerfully did. She rode in Mary I's coronation procession, outlived Henry and was the last of his wives to die. She was buried in Westminster Abbey as Anne, Queen of England, the only one of the wives to be buried there, by Mary I.
@Estrellakatarinathegreatrussian lol so what are you fighting for?
He felt he absolutely HAD to have a son as women could not fight on a battlefield. Unfortunately by the time he started finding Anne potential wife material, Catherine had gone through menopause. The problem was that the cost of marrying Anne came way too high and as three pregnancies failed to produce a son he was both guilty and desperate.... Jane basically appeared at just the right moment - after the death of Catherine and Anne's miscarriage of a boy.
Ps. Do not think that Anne was infatuated with the King. She wasn't after he had forbade her to marry the love of her life many years earlier. However, her family - particularly her uncle - wanted royal patronage and firstly dangled her sister Mary in front of the King. They were lovers for five years and it is likely her daughter was Henry's. When H lost interest in Mary, their uncle pushed Anne in front of him BUT she refused to become yet another lover. Eventually as they landed up together it became a meeting of the minds as they were both highly intelligent and things went from there. But don't think this was simple or quick. It was seven years before they slept together and got married secretly shortly afterwards.
@Stargazer19 These accounts were among my reading material when I was a history major, I cannot recall which book. I suggest you go consult your library, they should be able to find the the eye witness accounts. You might also want to read the modern historians Eric Ives, Agnes Strickland and David Starkey. They have all claimed to find ample proof regarding her character. Eyewitness; ambassador Chapuys described her as "rather proud and haughty”, not as the meek caricature we know today.
