Cherry Ghost has also unveiled a charming b/w video to the album's first single 'Clear Skies Ever Closer'. The video is the directorial debut of Maxine Peake and stars herself and Shaun Evans (Silk, Endeavour) as possibly estranged lovers wistfully contemplating their relationship.

Maxine Peake on the making of the video: "I've known Simon since 6th form and am a big fan of Cherry Ghost but bizarrely didn't realise they where one and the same.
"I only found out when Marc Riley informed me of the fact before inviting me along to a Cherry Ghost session for 6music. Which was absolutely stunning. So when Simon approached me to direct Clear Skies I hesitated for a second (as I've never directed anything in my life!) but I like a challenge and it was just too good an opportunity to pass up.
"I'd bought Shaun Evans 'Beneath the Burning Shoreline' as a birthday present a couple of years ago so I knew he wouldn't need much arm twisting to take part. Clear Skies Ever Closer is such a beautiful and evocative track, it was a real honour to try and represent Simon's artistry on screen.
"It was a steep learning curve but I thoroughly enjoyed it."

With his much-anticipated third album Herd Runners due for release next month on Heavenly Recordings, CHERRY GHOST has announced news of a 6-date UK tour in June including a performance at Islington Assembly Hall in London.

Simon Aldred, Bolton's finest undiscovered genius, i could weep for this band, so good and so ignored, nobody writes quality songs like this, some of his songs Crowded House would be proud of, i rate Simon so highly as a writer and singer, a genius in my eyes.

To me they're as good if not better than Coldplay who I really like.

this album is amazing. I know thirst for romance is highly rated but Herd runner is now on a loop in my car, traffic jams only mean I get longer to listen to this guys incredible voice
One of the best melodists and lyricists of recent years, I hope that Simon is doing what makes him happy these days. Sad that Cherry Ghost will not be performing or recording together but you have got to do what you think is best in this one and only lifetime.
Hes co-writing/writing songs with Liam Gallagher. Liam is releasing a Christmas song Nov 27th. Simon helped write it

I had heard 4am before but didn't know who sang it and one day I was shopping in Home Bargains and this song came on and I couldn't leave until I found out who sang it, luckily one of the employees knew it.
Ever since hearing "Thirst" something draws u back to CG every time... Like T Jones says ..string laden....... great to hear people playing/singing real music again... Just the injection british music needs....

I was gutted when I heard they'd split up, I managed to contact Simon via Twitter a couple of years ago, he confirmed that Cherry Ghost will NEVER get back together which is a real shame.
The trades club gig, due to happen on 11/12/20 but to be rescheduled, says otherwise.... see you there!
