This song is stunning. It makes you feel like you've reached the epitome of meaning and life, but at the same time you feel as though there is nothing. Endlessly drifting through life, but forever in one place. It's nothing and everything all at the same time. Love and loneliness. Perfect for just sitting there with a girl, and for 6 minutes in your life, just shutting the fuck up.

Near the end of part 2 he looks out from the black lodge and looks at a road that looks just like this, I had to come back to listen to this song. I wish this song played in the episode.

So glad Twin Peaks is finally back.. and not to name drop or anything, but the Chromatics playing "Shadow" at the end of episode two (with obvious references to the original seasons) couldn't have been a better choice.. unless it was this. 😉
Yeah, it song captures how heart breaking it was that Coop lost 25 years of his life. His soul atrophied and forgot how to operate a body. I hope he comes back by episode 8 at least.

Usually it gets annoying when lyrics repeat themselves over and over at the end of songs. But in this case every lyric felt fresh & beautiful & I didn't want it to end.
i think Lynch is a very emotional artist even though everyone thinks he's dark and strange, his work is very touching :')
This was filmed in Death Valley, California. The road in the beginning is the one approaching Death Valley from Shoshone, CA. Done it so many times I know it like the back of my hand! The last scene, the motel, is Panamint Springs Resort in Death Valley. Beautiful video and music!

Few months ago I watched Mulholland drive and after that I knew MR. Lynch was one of his own kind. His work stands apart . During this period of isolation I watched blue velvet and inland empire. I'm in totally awe . Such a unique and original content and mind boggling.

For me as fan of great cinema his works are in league of Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, Andrei Tarkovsky. Cinematic art at it's best.

@Rishi Eastwood yes he isn't celebrated in mainstream in accordance to the quality content he have delivered over the years.
Maybe his works aren't meant for masses , there is some obscurity and ambiguity in his plots which makes it difficult to understand.
I love how this so awesomely recalls Julee Cruise's songs on Twin Peaks.
Seriously awesome for that feeling and atmosphere to be transferred from the early 90s to be released this year as this great song, featuring the vocals of a woman who would've just been starting school when Twin Peaks was on air.
The Twin Peaks soundtrack is amazing. So atmospheric and strange to go with such a peculiar TV series. You're right, this recalls it perfectly. It has that sad 1950s quality with a mournful refrain.

David Lynch worked very closely with Angelo Badalamenti on the Twin Peaks soundtrack and was very specific about the atmosphere he wanted to create.
I find it weirdly nostalgic when I finally find a song for the first time from 8-10 years ago, and just love it. Where have I been.

I miss the long lonely roads in NV. I miss driving for hours and staring at the beautiful barren landscape.
My wife and I took a 1600mi drive along the BIG 5 National Parks in UT, last year June. This is the view, tranquility, solace, bonding and serenity we felt for the next 14 days.
We’ve been to so many countries and places around the world, walked, drove, travelled, hiked but the view and the feeling in this trip were just mind blowing - it was one of the top three trips of our lives, till date!
Lets take a moment to appreciate that they still drove responsibly, taking to the right completely when not having a good long and clear view ahead.

WONDERFUL TRIP WITH A SUBLIME VOICE!!!
I was thinking about sleep during the video but mainly because it brought back the memory of when I was a teen and ran away to California from the east coast. I drove 3 straight days and as the days progressed and sleep was almost unavoidable, I hit those western roads just like this. Nothing but vast expanses of dirt and a two lane road, night and day and the music on my stereo.
The girl's voice sure didn't help. lol
David Lynch captures experience well.
